Hi Sam! Good question. These camper ones are some that I recorded a year or so ago and didn’t get published. I have some more recent ones in the make but no Opel ones! lol. I have a Manta that I want to get working on!

Hi opelgtcr8z, thanks for the video. I changed the master cilinder years ago, and found that the 4 plastic ears (2:23) of the complete instrument unit are sensitive for plastic aging. That means that the will break off. Be care full not to overtighten them. My bus: T3, 1980, CU engine, 420.000 km.

@opelgtcr8z491 2 месяца назад
Yes, two were already broken. Same issue with our other Vanagon. Had to use big washers. 1980, nice. I have an 81. T2 Engine a bit underpowered but I love it.

My first car was a 72 Opel Gt with factory AC and automatic transmission. I was a dumb kid and I decided as “sports” car would be better with a standard tranny and the AC would only slow it down. I now realize how special that car was. You car is the only other Opel I’ve ever seen with AC. Years after I did what I did to my car I realized it was now like every other run of the mill Opel that I’ve ever seen. Not sure pulling your AC was a good idea. That kinda made it unique. But its a great looking car, hats off to your wife she did an awesome job.
@opelgtcr8z491
@opelgtcr8z491 3 месяца назад
Yeah, The AC didnt work anyway and would have needed work. They only bog the engine down. There is a place that makes brand new AC systems that look like the old with modern compressors for it. I wanted the timeless classic look like my earlier GT had.

What a beautiful family ! Working together to fix their bus , I have two of them myself , I know how often they brake , & you have to fix them yourself , especially these days , mechanics do not care how simple the old VW Bus is , they will find some way to brake your bank !

I love the 1978 Pace Car Corvette paint scheme. My dad owned a '78 Pace Car brand new so I was 10 when he got it. I thought it was the coolest. I just bought in the last 3 weeks my first Opel GT. It's a '70 and it's been setting since about '97. It came with a 75 Corvette as a package deal. I was way more excited about the Open than the Vette. I've owned a Vette before and I was alright but I've wanted an Opel GT since I first saw one in the late '70's. I actually got mine running and driving the day after brining it home although it will need a lot of work to be road worthy.

So good to see your wife enthusiastically joining in the effort. And not just by running for beer. She did the hard stuff. The headliner looks perfect and that ain’t easy. How long did it take. I sold my 1971 GT to my sons father in law. He is well along on the resto.

I really like this kind of "no BS" diary type channel, not focused on putting up a show for money and delivering straight and honest car content, plus it helps thst I'm also a gearhead of course, but I miss the old days of YT when this was the norm. Not that I have anything against making money with YT, far from it, in fact I think it's an amazing, almost God-given gift, I just see that sometimes, many times lately, the content loses its "heart" by chasing the pay check, and it becomes a cold, heartless collection of images. Anyway, hat off for the great achievements, great collection and top family 👍🏻🖤🏴‍☠️
@nicksothep8472
@nicksothep8472 2 года назад
That was really good, and the car was in such good conditions that you could have easily gone with a soft resto and still end up with a quality job, but I understand and agree that if both the will and the wallet are strong, doing it the hard way is the right choice, and boy that little I4 came out so beutiful, as does the paint, damn, everything looks great 👍🏻🖤 looks probably better than when it rolled out of the line! That's pride right there, many many kudos👍🏻⚡

These have a slave cylinder on the transmission. It does a lot of the work too. Start with some fluid but you may need to bleed the slave cylinder as well. Mine has a plastic pressure tube on the transmission that the DOT fluid flows through. Was surprised it was plastic. Might check that too.
