Some of the best Elvis performances are from his 1970 Las Vegas Live Concert & there are also some great songs in his Aloha from Hawaii 1973 Live Concert …. Steam Roller Blues & Fever are both great ones in that Hawaii 1973 concert. Suspicious Minds is a great one with lots of great Elvis dancing in his 1970 Las Vegas Live Concert …. Bridge Over Troubled Water from that 1970 Las Vegas concert is the Best performance of it (I see you have done it from another concert) ….. Let’s Pretend & You’ve Lost That Loving Feeling from 1970 Las Vegas live concert are really great performances, & the best performance of Polk Salad Annie is also in the 1970 Las Vegas live concert. Las Vegas was a very prestigious place to perform, & The Showroom, where Elvis always performed, is the Most Prestigious, so those1970 performances are the best & Elvis is in top form, physically & emotionally ….. In The Ghetto is also another great song with a message in one of his 1970 Las Vegas live concerts. Also, Elvis Rehearsals are always great, & us fans love seeing them …. & Elvis Funny Moments are another great draw for your Elvis subscribers & there are a number to choose from.
Credence Clearwater Revival did the original of Proud Mary, but lots of artists have done covers of it. It’s a great song & Elvis only sang songs he really liked, that he knew would suit his voice & his style, & more often than not, he would adapt the songs to his own style, sometimes not even close to the original & lots of time better than the original (IMO)
This was when Elvis appeared on the Frank Sinatra Show weeks after he got out of the army & returned to America in 1960. In this same show, he sang the beautiful song Fame and Fortune, which is a favourite of mine, & he also sang a duet with Frank Sinatra, which was fabulous. Love this song too.
His Polk Salad Annie 1970 Las Vegas concert was so much better than this performance. In his 1970 performance, he Really has action & you can see his enthusiasm & he has so much more energy than in this rather mediocre performance. I really do suggest you React to his 1970 Vegas performance.
I love this live version but the studio version as used in the film "Highlander" is also wonderful. Brian sings the first verse so tenderly and the instrumentation is epic. Different but equally wonderful. I think Freddie touches us so much because he gave every song his entire heart and soul and we just feel the truth and honesty of it in our own souls.
Happy for you to experience another Mitchell masterpiece. Another artist from Mitchell's generation that was a songwriter and had a vocal style similar to Mitchell's is Phoebe Snow. You might enjoy her and I think I'd start with Poetry Man (written by Snow and I think from her first album...1974---
