I think your cinematography is spot on. I think you've identified two areas where you could go to even greater heights - the white balance and lighting (mainly lighting). You did nail the composition, framing, camera movements and the overall look, it is really well done and you and your son should be proud :)
@@AndreasSando Thanks for the information! I just bought an extremely used GH5 for like $300 with the 25/1.7 lens and buying the vlog for another 100 seems quite considerably high for me at this point. I am trying to work with HLG which seems to work quite nicely too but I just wanted to know if V-logL is worth that extra money.
@Fusionaire depending on your future plans, if you’re planning on upgrading to a newer camera, I would say that the profiles that comes with the camera is absolutely good enough! I mainly use the natural or standard profile in 8 bit when recording regular videos. It’s only when I shoot short films, or other “important” stuff when I want to have as much DR as possible, that I use log. What are you mainly using your camera for? 🙂
Good walkthrough of how it was made :) Personally I though the lighting was really good, understated and now flashy, it created natural looking scenes that didn’t feel lit, which added to the realism of the whole film :) All in all a great little film with a cohesive and engaging story and good pacing all the way through :)
Thank you Andre for the awesome feedback! Especially glad that you mention that the scenes don’t feel lit, as that was something I really wanted to achieve. 😃👊
@@AndreasSando Mission accomplished then :) The lighting on the subject is just enough in relation to the background to make them separate without feeling «forced» so job well done :)
@@AndreasSando ah Thank you man, My Dad thought it a few years ago and when I decided to create a RU-vid channel, I Used the name Samzilla. Your channel seems interesting so I'm gonna sub
I like the way you think out loud. I just subscribed. I use NATURAL Setting with -2 contrast, -1 saturation, -1 Hue. I have a GH6 (3 of them for music videos). Well done! Thank you!
Yes, research. After purchasing then selling my last eco system, I learned that purchasing used, for me, is a better bargain. Technology is so high today that purchasing used can still "future proof" my eco camera system. Thank you and have a great weekend.
Totally agree with you on that! In my eyes, my old GH5 still holds up pretty well! Have an awesome weekend and thanks for supporting me and the channel. It means a lot! 😃👊
Good video bro! I was doing a lot of researching when I was going to buy my first camera, and haven’t regret it. It’s to expencive to change system after buying a lot of lenses and other equipement, so it’s important to do some work pre buying😊
Thanks man! And of course the internet can be overwhelming with its information pointing in all directions, but just do some research and trust your stomach! 😄👊
Or you could MFT and GH5,with cheapo lens...learn the craft after a year change to a better newer camera system when you know what you need. Worse case scenario you have a great backup camera😂😂😂
It’s the mysteries of RU-vid. But I’ll keep making videos I care about and hopefully the views go up! Thanks for the support, glad you enjoyed them! 😃👍
Definitely a subscribe from us! We definitely agree, most people have no idea of the amount of effort that goes into making even a "simple" RU-vid video. The overwhelm is real! 😅 But never give up! Practice is what all of us need!!! 😊
@@AndreasSando a firmware just got released for the lens - appears to make it produce more crisp images while improving lens-based stabilization. Could you perhaps test and a follow-up video if my observations are correct?
Also use 10 bit 4:2:2 (the subsampling is a very important part, without it you would get more or less the same issues) of you have or want to use log, 8 bit 4:2:0 will break very fast with log profiles
Yes that is a good point I should have clarified that. In my head I already assumed that if you shoot in 8 bit you’re using some of the other color profiles. Thanks for sharing! 😃👍
10bit is awesome to have, I have so much information to work with after getting a 10bit camera 😅 specially with s-log3 like I use 😊 but of course, no profile and 8bit works great to if you are not into color grading 😊
Yes as long as you have the storage and computer power just go with 10 bit and you'll get the best footage to work with! 😃 But I don't want to think about how much disc space all my shots during the years would take if all were 10 bit...haha! 😂
YES, I’m with you! The 35-100 is my next lens purchase and then I have most of the basics covered! Maybe I’ll get some prime lenses and vintage lenses, for the look, as well. 😊👍
The GH6 is better on all the cons you mentioned, but your last point nails it, the GH5 is ~$500-600! That said, I got the GH6 cause 240/300fps and 120fps 4K.... mmm I love my slow motion.
Yes you are absolutely true, the successor is better (thank god 😄) and I may switch to that one day but for now I keep the GH5. I love slow motion as well but not enough to justify the price today. Thanks for commenting! 👊😊
Thanks 🙏 Yes it’s a lot to think of and it can be a bit overwhelming sometimes I think, but if you manage to just keep it cool and not rush things you can usually get most of it right! 😄
