Well it is a mystery. The laptop mike is meant to be disabled but seems to take over from the external mike regardless of settings. I have tried something different so will see what happens tonight.
I was really interested in Mai Kai setup and now know !!!. They have a thumping signal into the SDR located in Southern VK2. Nice to hear a yacht with such a great signal for once !!. 73
I love listening to these on RU-vid. We are at gulf harbour marina and heading to Vanuatu soon. The boat came with ssb and it’s like voodoo - never used one and cannot figure it out. Is there anyone who can be my mentor/coach?
Hey, thanks for all you do. Is there any way you can make the audio clearer? Maybe a direct mic for both. I get it's difficult to hear the SSB but the audio from the two (male and female) speakers sounds like its in a tunnel and should be an easy fix.
It’s a complicated set up Kyla and seemingly beyond my knowledge. We have the radio mike which feeds my home antenna but I cannot receive on this antenna because of local noise. So I use a remote antenna in Northland for receive. That means it comes to me via the internet so unless I turn off the speaker when I talk there is a short echo. We have to use a hand mike as we pass it between us. You cannot have two mikes for one radio. In addition I have a plug in microphone for the streaming but where to put it. I have been trying different positions. It needs an expert and some new equipment but as this is a voluntary job I do not feel I can spend a lot on it. But I will keep investigating. Next move is to buy a new microphone for streaming. I assume it is that which is the problem. Thanks for comment.b without that we don’t know that something needs fixing!
Well listen again as today I purchased a new fancy microphone. Will need to experiment with position and settings but I hope it improves listening quality. Donations welcomed!
