Not shown here but I love the scene where they get eaten by the giant creature and Ashi is like "Haha, Jack is as good as dead!" and Jack's demeanor is like "Oh this is just Tuesday for me."
He looks better with beard & that hairstyle. When i saw the ending ot gave me a mild depression & somewhat meltdown. Glad the game ending has a happier one & it's canon. Wish it was in the show but I'll take it. Better than nothing now.
You know, while the story of Samurai Jack's final season is a fun romp, I do feel like it could've said more about the moral implications of raising a child solely for a singular purpose. In a way, Ashi and Jack were both groomed into warriors without a thought to their humanity underneath, so I feel like that aspect of the narrative could've used more exploration in the resolution. As it stands, the ending absolves Jack's teachers for turning him into a weapon against Aku, and that doesn't sit right with me.
Well what you want? Jack to start whining and complaining about how he didn't get to live a normal life? Aku took that from him and Jack was the Chosen One. He was the only one who could stop Aku.
@@TimberlakeTigerGirl I’ve put your argument in standard form and wrote down my responses accordingly. If I missed a point or mischaracterized your views please let me know. Assumption 1 - The exploration of the trauma of the grooming Jack underwent to make him a warrior would get in the way of the power fantasy the story’s trying to give. Rebuttal 1 - Look at Invincible or Berserk. Those stories explore similar masculine existential crises as the crux of their narratives, but are still action packed gorefests. The inquiry into this kind of subject matter has no impact on the quality of a show’s enjoyability in the hands of a capable writer. Assumption 2 - The alternative to the current story I’m suggesting would only amount to Jack whining and complaining about his childhood that would annoy the audience. Rebuttal 2 - See rebuttal 1. Those other stories are able to give ample time to explore their character’s inner conflicts and it only heightens the significance of their action scenes. Assumption 3 - The way the story ended was the only way it could have in order for it to make sense in the context of what happened before. Rebuttal 3 - If one could use in-universe explanations to hand wave away postulations of alternative outcomes to the canon then no one would be able to critique or transform a plot ever despite the original’s flaws because it existed first. Would you really want to live in a world with only the first cut of Bladerunner? Assumption 4 (implied, possibly unintentionally) - Questioning the traditionally masculine value of earning the right of adulthood through the cultivation of violent potential that’s imposed on boys at a young age is unworthy of consideration because it’s indicative of weakness. Rebuttal 4 - Is the inflicting of violence really indicative of inner strength or just the exertion of power? There are many absurd factors in the world that unjustly give some people control over the livelihood and safety of others. A society completely ruled by such power would restrain all but the lucky few who’d hold the most influence (ironically like Aku) and damage humanity as a whole, so it’s moral to promote alternatives to such constraining worldviews in our media. After all, isn’t standing up to power one of the strongest things you can do even when that power is more an abstract social force than a single villain? Thesis: The assertion that the story would’ve been better if it explored the trauma of being a groomed hero is unreasonable and misses the point of the story. Antithesis: Exploring and critiquing the warrior mentality we teach men and boys has already and will continue to produce valuable pieces of fiction not just socially but as entertainment as well. The fact it wasn’t explored in this show more often was a missed opportunity.
I know it's just a cartoon but man I wish the idiot that is Jack put some more thought into what would happen if he killed Aku in the past... All for the sake of what? Going back home? You ALREADY had found yourself a home you idiot
