I would have a lot more sympathy for players if clubs didnt drag them off for meaningless post season games and pre season tours on the other side of the world
The arrogance of the English media is almost hilarious. "Run out of steam" and "Coincidence" All this talk at the beginning of the season then excuses, when clearly they faced better opposition that was more disciplined, tactically astute and had a proper gameplan. There is a reason Germany and Italy have 5 UCL spots and its not a coincidence mate.
Cherry picking statistic a bit at 1:38, because Klopp is really complaning about how often his team has to play a 12:30 or a similar early games after having played a late game a few days prior, not the average amount of time between games. There was an interesting stat on Viaplay a while back, that showed that during Klopps Career at Liverpool, he has had 2-3 times as many early games after international break than any other manager.

I never thought Unai Emery side will loose in such huge margin; unai have experience in winning Europe elite cup titles but somehow he is let down by english club choking mentality. It shows epl is much hyped league.
after laughing at Birmingham's relegation, fair to say Villa have come crashing down to earth a bit by that - embarrassing result. Should still get top 4 but geez, they should really have won that cup given their budget and resources, not to mention Emery's reputation in European comps.
Just to be clear, I do not disrespect Villa, the name is legendary, they had a great run this year and I enjoyed watching them in EPL, but facts are facts: Aston Villa is being carried into the Champions League (CL) by the major clubs, ManCity, Arsenal, Liverpool etc, who keep EPL at the top of Europe and allow 4 CL spots.. and it just happened this year, Villa to play really good in EPL and reach the 4th CL spot - previous season they finished 7th. Olympiacos was always a CL team coming from Greece, never managed anything great in CL but they do have the experience. although there was a decline in both Greek football and Olympiacos in the past decade, they should always be a team to be respected especially down in Conference - they do have a CL mentality because they always won the greek league and entered CL every time. For me there was no surprise here. The only surprise was, I expected Villa to win at least one leg. And just for a heads up, both last season and the current season, the top 4 teams in the Greek league, they all had a chance to be Greek champions to a point's difference, things changed due to the greek playoff format where the best teams had to face each other again at the end of the season. So we could say that Olympiacos was good enough for CL both years, but lost points playing against the best teams in the greek playoff format. And also this 4-team-to-a-point's difference, is a very good indicator that Greek football is being more competitive and getting stronger and stronger by the years.. before that it was only Olympiacos with at least 15 points difference from the 2nd. And before anyone says that Villa was tired, they probably were yes... Olympiacos is tired too, the greek playoffs are still running in close dates, facing the top teams of Greece for the title..... I wish with all my heart for Aston Villa to improve in the following years and see them play in Champions League. They do have a legendary name to carry on...
PL teams certainly had a bad year, but let us not forget that Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City have all won the CL in the past few years (a PL team won it last year). Three CL teams winning it in a short space of time. Only one team from other leagues has won the CL over the past few years - Bayern and Real Madrid. It certainly shows that the PL has better overall strength. And let us not forget that PL teams have dominated the last stages of the CL over the past few years. So one bad year does not mean that the PL is inferior as some of the comments seem to suggest.
As a Villa fan I am sad we didn't win but if I had to choose winning the Conference League or going to the Champions League. I would defiantly choose the second!
