I dont think geo users are ‘often handicapping’ themselves though. Thats just how it seems from a story standpoint from our perspective as players. If you look at it another way geo users instead seem to share a knack for being supporters in the background. For noelle she is a knight just simply without the title. As you say, she appears to carry more of the burden for most of the knights of favonius. She isnt handicapped in her ambition, shes just abit too shortsighted to see how shes already basically achieved and still vontinues to fulfil the contract she made with herself to help others in need whether it be with or without the title as a knight. Same for gorou, he isnt handicapped from his goals as a general just because he puts himself at the face of danger for his people. If anything he solidifies his desires by doing so as it is his job as general. Same goes for every other geo character. Visions merely go to those with particularly strong desires. Not that the video doesnt point out similarities in the wielders but i think more could be said than just geo is the element of users who often are too busy to help others than themselves. Tbh you could even say being a geo user means supporting others’ desires
This one interests me so much, as Dottore is leaked to be Cryo. He is someone who is torn between Sumeru and Snezhnaya, his homeland and his future, desperately wishing to return and yet exiled from it. The Akademiya's most brilliant student of all time, yet not recognised for it. The most important member of the Fatui, yet disliked by most. Someone with a noble goal (to liberate humanity), yet achieved through at times ignoble means, much like the Tsarista he is so devoted to. At once desperate to belong, yet forging his own path. And someone who has similarly lost everything (from Sohreh to his place at the Akademiya, his homeland), having to build a new name and even then, he has lost even more in service of the Fatui (the research, his own segments, etc.) And someone who loves, underneath his cold exterior (despite declaring himself an enemy of Sumeru, he at no point places them in any danger at least during the AQ, and even allows for the purification of Irminsul, and doesn't take Nahida's gnosis by force or even attempt to, making him the only Harbinger not to do that where an Archon was involved [Scaramouche couldn't because Ei didn't have a body anymore and he knew that Miko had it.]) I wonder what Genshin will have for his story, all I know is that Zandik's will be great. ❤
Sara isn't a fan girl, she reveres the Shogun because she believes the Electro vision she received saved her life. It's a devotion similar to Ganyu's more than Keqing even tho it's played for laughs. I think the better fit for Sara would be that she is this strict general and whatever, but she was childhood friends with Itto, and still cherishes that friendship even though she tries to reject it on the surface, she is either present or mentioned at every Itto-centric event, showing her importance to his character and vice-versa. Additionally, she is also a Tengu in the human world, adopted into a human family (why Itto is so important, as a fellow Youkai, since neither of them fit in either world, and Yae ofc is of a higher station and also older than them both), where she is made to feel as an outcast (forbidden from playing with toys or showing joy, yet she keeps a toy in her pocket - a spinning top - to amuse herself, and again, she does not entirely reject Itto at all despite making a show of doing so. If she truly wished, Itto would already be in far more dire consequences for his constant seeking of her alone, which if it were truly unwanted would amount to stalking, but we know Itto isn't that kind of person and Sara doesn't reject him at all in her heart.) I hope we get to see more of Sara and have a hangout for her that involves Itto. I should also mention Sara has never met Ei personally, she has only dealt with the Raiden Shogun puppet, which is why she asks Yae about Ei's tastes, etc. (Also why the voice lines about her are from the Shogun, and the ones about Yae meant to contrast her are from Ei.) She is, however, a descendant of Sasayuri, who was Ei's Tengu general/possible lover, lost in the war against Orobaxi. As Itto is the descendant of Chiyo, the Oni friend of Ei. And we know Yae is from the same Kitsune 'tribe' as Kitsune Saiguu, the one between two worlds (similar to Ganyu in that she is in the past and present, except unlike Ganyu she isn't conflicted about her place in the world, hence no Cryo vision.) I do wonder if she could be a secret child they had together though that veers a bit more into fanfic, though it would explain both why Sara works so well with Ei and also why she was "saved" by her (via Electro vision.) Also the purple hair considering Sasayuri's was completely black, but this last bit is more fanciful, I bring it up however because it was Ei's most dramatic reaction aside from losing Makoto to date, despite losing Saiguu and Chiyo in the same battle, at least as far as we know, Ei didn't leave any permanent marks on Khaenriah, and her mowing down Chiyo was not really personal (Chiyo attacked first.) She went all-out against Orobaxi and Watatsumi after Sasayuri died, so much so that Yashiori Island split into two. That is crazy strong, and a bit overkill for targeting a relatively weak god. Guyun seals a ton of dead gods, and yet it doesn't look anywhere as busted, certainly not dangerous despite Morax being as strong as he is, unlike the toaster bath in Yashiori. We do also know Ei has a tendency to abandon children lmao. And we know Hoyo does sometimes show characters being related through design, like Jean and Barbara, Lyney and Lynette, etc. (In this case, the hair, and both being generals.) That last one is more fun to think about than a serious analysis of Sara, but everything before that stands.
I want to see a really good 5 star Cryo Shielder when we go to Sneznaya. We've had many shielders but I feel nothing has come close to that of Zhongli. Don't think the Tsaritsa would be that character but still I wouldn't mind seeing someone new with a strong shield not quite as good as Zhongli, but restores health upon shatter to make up the difference.
I don't think we'll see a shielder as strong as Zhongli, seeing as archons seem to be the strongest in one very specific area. Venti has the best CC, Shogun the best recharge, Nahida the best EM buff, Furina the best damage buff. Zhongli's is the best shield. Although, for regular play, I personally haven't needed anything close to his strength. A 3k DEF Noelle, with the second strongest shield, can face-tank any single attack in the game that isn't a guaranteed OHKO. I would also like more shielders, though. We have so few good ones.
I'd say geo characters follow traditional ideas with a modern twist, and often feel like they are 'other' from everyone else. Albedo is an alchemist, but he toys with the taboos of alchemy, and pushes it in new directions. He also feels like an outsider, since he is a product of Alchemy himself. Gorou is a general, but unlike Sara, he tries to get to know each and every soldier. He also likes giving advice, despite seeming to worry about how he fits in himself, and seems a little insecure about this and his canine genetics compared to other humans. Noelle wants to be a knight, but also a maid. She often feels like she doesn't fit in with the knights, despite this being anything but true. Itto is an Oni that respects the sacrifice his brethren made, but doesn't want to perpetuate it, and wants to live freely. He often struggles with being an outcast from humans due to being an Oni. Yun Jin performs Liyue (Chinese) Opera, but wants to perform operas about the every day. She often struggles with being a celebrity and wants to be treated normally. Ninguang wants to be the (forgotten the term for leader) of the Qixing, but despite respecting Rex Lapis, wants humans to be in control. Despite this, she gets treated as 'above' other humans, despite not really wanting to be. Navia as the head of the Spina, respects her parents, but wants to run the organisation in her own way. She struggles with making close friends outside the Spina, and even within, as the head, struggles because like Ninguang, she is seen as distant, even if she isn't. Chiori respects the concept of fashion and Inazuma style, but wants to modernise with her own ideas without chasing trends. Because of her blunt nature, she inadvertently pushes people away from her. Zhongli wants to live as a human, but struggles to do so as he is actually a god, and doesn't really fully understand human culture, and so struggles to fit in.
Ice is the element of solitude. The wielders of Cryo bear cold exteriors to keep others from being burdened by their mistakes. But that does not mean they are distant from the wonders of the world. They believe that connections should be earned and developed in order to maintain a sense of self worth.
Grass is the element of devotion. The wielders of Dendro are committed to their duties to the best of ability. So much so that they will make any sacrifice necessary to fulfill it.
Lightning is the element of abnormality. The wielders of Electro perceive the world as more than a pattern of mundane matters and strives to bring creativity and personality within everything. And like a flash of lightning, it comes when you least expect it.
Ah yes best girl at last Although... how does Geo differ from Electro then? Geo is the resistance, determination, perseverance against the odds, struggle for the impossible - while Electro is denying something and striving to put your own dream to reality - isn't it very similar then?
I don't see them as very similar. Geo is akin to playing an RPG and going after every side quest. In this metaphor, Electro would be role playing as someone else. Electro is all about how one acts. Like Hydro and Cryo, it's a state of being instead of a goal. Geo has a very well defined goal and they often don't know how to reach it and get distracted by helping people while they figure it out.
yep and this is why I love Geo sometimes reaching the goal isn't as important as the journey to get there, even if it looks distant and out of reach and after failing over and over what really matters is not giving up keep trying and you might find out you've accomplished more than you think. noelle really captures that essence

I heard a theory that the previous Cryo Archon was rev child (orsomeone close to) of the Tsaritsa and the whole thing with the fatui is a revenge plan against celestia cause they took the one thing she loved, so now she can’t love anything or anyone anymore. I do not have any evidence to support this idea but I just think it’s cool idea. Personally, I’d like to think she is the god of love who is in stasis, her heart left frozen from what happened 500 years ago in Khaenri'ah. The goddess of love no longer has love to give. I think that would work for the whole “contradiction”them most Cryo users have.

When Clorinde completed her training, she decided instead to battle lawbreakers in lieu of beasts. Furthermore, while off duty she becomes an intense lover of tapletop RPGs. (+Expectations-) Sethos lives many lives, never wanting to settle on just one. Leader of the Temple of Silence, ordinary citizen, socialite of the Akademiya, part-time desert guide. They are all equally valid to the young man and he would have it no other way. (+Expectations-)
I feel you missed the mark on a couple of your examples, so here’s my thoughts: Layla- got her vision by stubbornly and successfully defending a paper which rejected firmly established doctrine, fighting against the entire academic establishment. Ayaka: Because of her noble status, she had a wealth of social connections but no one she can call a genuine friend, and thus still feels very isolated and alone. Mika: suffers from intense social anxiety with a dash of impostor syndrome, gets really nervous when people are giving him any sort of personal attention because he’s afraid of disappointing them.
I think something you touch on here, but sort of skim over, is that Pyro users overwhelmingly harness the legacies they inherit to spread warmth/comfort/joy to those around them; this puts them in opposition to Cryo users, for whom legacies are great burdens they are forced to carry.
I still believe that the elements/visions represent the 7 stages of grief and the Archon quests represent the 7 stages of revolution. Anemo = Shock | Mondstadt = Normal Geo = Denial | Liyue = Criticism of Existing Regime Electro = Anger | Inazuma = Widespread Dissatisfaction Dendro = Bargaining | Sumeru = Transfer of Power Hydro = Depression | Fontaine = Civil War Pyro = Testing | Natlan = Reign of Terror Cryo = Acceptance | Snezhnaya = Thermidorian Reaction Now, the Fontaine Archon quest did deviate from the theme, but there were leaks during development that pointed toward a class war storyline and that Meropide wasn't as pleasant as at release. Some speculate that censors might have been involved in changing the direction of the story. It would actually make the most sense to have a civil war in Fontaine when you look at the way the nation is designed. They set up distinct areas of the world to show rich vs poor, but didn't really tap into them. They also made the law and justice entertainment for the rich and the "Archon" would put on a show while people's lives were at stake. If Meropide was also terrible and filled with the lower class who were condemned by the rich (the ones judging and creating the Indemnitium), it would have been the perfect setup for a war. The end would have probably remained similar, except that the people judging her would have been the people that suffered while she pretended to be a god. Some might say that Inazuma doesn't fit because it appeared to be a civil war, but the story was entirely about trying to get the attention of Ei herself and not an attempt to overthrow her. They just wanted her to reconsider her position and pay attention to her own nation's needs instead of chasing her false idea of eternity. Natlan will probably deviate from the Reign of Terror story, especially if there were/are any parallels that could be made to our world. Don't want people considering that they, too, might be living under that kind of government.
Omfg relax bro. Cryo will see its time when Snez comes out just like Hydro saw changes when Fontaine got release and so will Pyro in Natlan. Come to think of it, there are rumors on bili bili about Physical Damage making a comeback as well. Perhaps during the super conduct buff that was rumored

I love these videos, so much interesting ideas and insights. I can't wait for Geo. Personally I think it's going to be the element of ignorance, or to rephrase it the element of discovery. Whether that of discovering oneself, the world or others.
@@aetervespernoxch.6697 ganyu was like good on freezable aoe but falls off when it's not freezable and in single target, rosaria is good but circle impact, and diona even tho she has alot of good utilities no characters really need them + there's better alternatives.
@@Bravo6 I think Ganyu is still quite good on single non-freezable targets. My own (with a non-meta build) deals 76k per charged attack without a crit. This increases to over 100k critless with reverse melt from Dehya or Bennett-Kazuha.
Another grate video that makes me think I would never get a vision. But I don’t believe the „Tsaritsa had a lover” theory. I speculate that she actually grief the death of her child/mother (depending on if it’s Bronia or Cocolia) because the familiar bond would be easier for the traveler to connect and understand her, and also because genshin never focused on romance, yet it had a big focus on complicated family bonds (ex. Crepus, Diluc and Kaeya, Jean and Barbara, Klee’s dedication to her mother, that basically told Albedo to raise her because she’s absent, well even Albedo and Rhinedottir. Also Cloud Retainer, and Arlecchino taking parental roles over orfans, the relationship between Scaramuche and Ei, or Childe and his familly) The game is constantly reminding us about famill, something that the Travelers lost.
If that's the case I hope Hoyoverse gives the Tsaritsa a unique tragic backstory regarding the loss of a close family-member to her that stands out from thr rest even from that of Ei and her twin Makoto, even if the Traveler acknowledges the Tsaritsa is still dangerous it's possible they'll somehow still find a reason to empathize with her.
Great series so far! I think your takes/summaries make the most sense compared to other element-characteristic matchups. Can you elaborate a bit more on electro vs cryo? What's os different about the characters defying logic versus the characters having a contradiction between their personality/goals?
I'm glad someone noticed the similarities. The difference is quite simple: Electro users choose to contradict while Cryo users naturally contradict and (usually) want to be normal.

Electros purposefully creating imbalance vs cryos wishing to restore balance to themselves. Do you think there is a special connection between the elements, or did things just happen to go this way?
@@nayayam I'm not sure if there is a connection with every element, but Electro and Cryo certainly do. Noelle has also gone on record as stating that Geo is Anemo's opposite, though it's impossible to know if she meant 'the opposite of freedom is contracts'.

Every other element has some sort of flow in it too - be it lightning, rivers... While Geo is the most "stable" of all, the unmoving rocks. Noelle was too obsessed with the Knights of Favonius (and their leader being literally the Dandelion Knight, a powerful Anemo vision owner too) and Mondstadt being the land of the wind to understand that her Geo Vision is a testament to her unyielding will too Btw amazing video, couldn't grasp what connected Cryo Vision owners, can't wait for the best girl video
There are alot of theories as to what the tsaritsa is the god of. God of: love, apathy, peace, malice, duality, paradox and masks. I like god of paradox or masks Paradox: the tsaritsa is a god rebelling against gods for humanity (also the shivada gemstone talks about burning the old world) Masks: every cryo character masks their true personality. And decieving the heavenly principles is a thing Kaeya: double agent Eula: lies that she wants vengeance Mika: pretends to be anxious to show respect Chongyun: pretends to be stoic Shenhe: true personality restrained Ayaka: maintains public image Wriothesely: LITERALLY HAS THE WORD IMPROV ON HIS BANNER
Layla: goes out of her way to lie to _herself_ so that her very existence can remain a secret from... herself (because Stars' Blessing is afraid that Daylight knowing about her would just worsen her impostor syndrome and essentially abandon life by permanently giving control over to Stars' Blessing. This sounds extremely weird, but I've seen evidence of this actually being a thing that can happen... in real life). The Tsaritsa was specifically described as having no love left for her people, which is what made people latch onto the title of "god of love", but being a "god of love with no love" is itself paradoxical, hence also earning the potential title of "god of paradox".
love the video except for the 'tsaritsa has a lover' theory. I argue that the tsaritsa loves all of humanity, even those who don't believe in her like the khaenri'ans. I think a 'the tsaritsa loves humanity so much that she has to destroy the unfair world they love and live in' is a much more interesting plot than 'she had a lover who opposed celestia' narrative. In my opinion at least.
I agree on that, many people probably assume the Tsaritsa will have a lover because she could either end up being based on Bronya or Ana ftom HI3 both of whom have something of a romantic interest. I personally too like to think Tsaritsa is a lover of humanity and her means of showing love to them seem to have become more twisted and as a means to an end.
I saw another video talking about how cryo characters' are kinda like contradiction of their goal/personality. Amazing video btw, your series are my best source of info about each characters.
