I recently learned of the cultural significance of the traditional wooden lacrosse stick. The wood lacrosse stick is spiritual to the indigenous people as the game is given by their Creator. A wooden lacrosse stick is placed in the cradle and indigenous people are buried with their stick. It holds great reverence and it is believed the the spirit of the stick maker is with each stick they make. However with modern shafts and lacrosse stick available there is no longer the need for non Indigenous people to possess one. Because fr the most part, non indigenous people are very disrespectful to the stick by smashing things with a wooden lacrosse stick. And I point out to recent video by the great Larry Bird, wielding a wooden lacrosse stick and smashing various things around the house. Now they didn’t choose to use a baseball bat, hockey stick, golf club, bc those are non Indigenous peoples games for the most part. So I’ve been on a new mission to return the wooden lacrosse stick back to the Indigenous people bc that is the right and honourable thing to do. I believe other non Indigenous people such as myself ought to do the same thing, bc the Indigenous peoples are the true caretakers of the wooden traditional lacrosse stick.

The face black helps as well as the sticks are symbolic weapons. Lacrosse players aren't as bulky as rugby players so it loses a couple of intimidating points there. Still better than thy Kiwi basketball team
Thats changed from my day, or maybe its a Long Island thing. I enjoyed standing on the sideline and watching my teammates get time in a championship game. I had a chance to reflect on what I had done.
