We should count our lucky stars that they aren't roaring full volume...a lion's roar can carry five miles. So if they were roaring as loudly as they could, we'd get permanent hearing loss.
If you're in Tsavo, this is not beautiful...... It's a laxative. There is a deep, primal fear that rattles your core when you feel the Earth shake under their sheer, raw power.
Sounds like it's getting close to dinner time. I used to live a few miles from a sanctuary for them and they'd get like this as feeding time approaches.
