Thanks for doing my tag, Kevin. Happy to have found your channel this way. The short stories you talked about sound very interesting. Totally agree about Pillars of The Earth. 😊💙
These are some good picks! I am sure you can grab them all in one bear hug. Let's hope we never need to. I will make my version soon! Thanks for the idea!😊
That is not what I thought that The God of Endings was going to be about at all haha. I had also assumed it was some sort of medieval romance or something. Can't wait to see what your daughter picks for you next!
Kevin! You are a Mind Reader! I was thinking if the books could be read out of order when you suddenly started explaining that the reader would miss a lot of stuff by reading out of order. Amazing! Another solid Deep Dive! Thanks Kevin. -James
Of the 4 standalones that I read from L.A. novelist Robert Crais, my 5-star Heavyweight Champion book of the four happens to be HOSTAGE by Robert Crais. I would say that it's kinda the mystery version of movies like SWORDFISH with John Travolta. The movie adaptation of it with Bruce Willis was good as well. Would love to have your thoughts on it sometime in the near future.
The Count of Monte Cristo Alexandre Dumas, Les Miserables Victor Hugo, Lonesome Dove Larry McMurtry, and one I just finished, Tai-Pan by James Clavell.
Oh man this is a hard one. I have a few 5 stars but 11/22/63 by Stephen King and Piranesi by Susanna Clarke are the two I’m throwing in. I highly suggest you check out Piranesi if you haven’t already. It’s not in your normal genre of books but it’s a fantastic story nonetheless.
I watched Hide&Read this morning and just now seeing yours...It was not lost on me that he had a hoodie on...but I thought it was just a coincidence till you popped up just now with your head covered, That was a fun take/addition to the fellowship read! Sounds like it was a positive experience. He seems like a very cool guy. From the sound of your reviews, this would not be a book I would actively seek out, but if I came across it at the thriftstore, I would pick it up for a try. Thanks!
Plenty there to keep you busy. Food for thought. The only problem with watching other book tubers channels is that it only increases the tbr. Best wishes with your reading and to your channel.
I really like Harry and Bob not enough characters like those two. I didn't like the stories too much to be honest. Read the first three, I might try again in the future. Lots of cool story elements though, wish I liked it more.
@@kevintowle9665 if I remember correctly book 1 was his first published work, followed by 2, 3, etc. So Ill read something more recent when the time comes.
I've only read the first 2 and they are such great fun. My plan is to space the reads of the rest among more serious books every couple of months or so.
I'm currently wrapping up The Gunslinger by Stephen King. I'm super excited to continue The Dark Tower, however, I might be trying Mr Mercedes out first haha.
Yes! Support your local Library. Great book haul! Okay, this is the Third video that I viewed where the content creators mention "Faceless Books"! I am about done got tired of hearing about Faceless on every video I view! Who is Faceless? What is his appeal? I am going to his channel right now and get to the bottom of this. Okay, I need to calm down. Sorry Kevin. This is your channel. Sorry. Whew, -James
@@kevintowle9665. I am already a subscriber to his channel. Actually, I was making a joke. But it really is the third video where he is mentioned! Just wait until my next video, I will have plenty to say!
Holy cow, you are turning these videos out almost faster than I can watch them!😄 Thanks for the Scudder reviews and congrats on nearing the end of the series.
Started the last novella tonight. It helps that i rolled into the week with 2 books almost finished lol. Nevertheless, I am enjoying the books a lot. Thanks for the continued comments and likes! 👍
See I do this all the time... I comment before I see the end of the video... I need to make a list of the 7 I don't have and start looking for them. Did you say your library or a little free library? Guess I could rewatch. 😂
Slowly. Stitches are out, have a follow up in 6 weeks. I have read 5 out of the 9 Baldacci books before, but I enjoy them. Easy reading thrillers! How are you? Still basking in your score of Louis Lamour? That’s a once in a lifetime score
@@kevintowle9665 Glad to hear it is healing up. I have actually never read a Baldacci... I might have to give it a shot sometime. Yes I'm thrilled to have those books... I'm exhausted from the trip... the day before that I went on a 280 mile motorcycle ride so I put some miles on in 2 days... Loving the channel my friend!
Another solid weekly wrap. And I appreciate the Shout out. I'm glad that your channel is growing. It's a fun and informative channel. See ya next time. -James
Good, I am curious if the Cork O'Connor series will continue to be a solid series. I have another O'Connor book but I don't want to read them out of order. One of My top 5 Western books is written by a female author. And I'm thinking who knows better what you might like to read other than your daughter. I'm betting that you will at least enjoy her pick. Nice book haul. Enjoy. -James
Love your copy of the book.😂 How long have you been reading this series... I'm always shocked at how many Prey series there are. I heard someone say they don't believe he is writing these stories anymore... Do you believe this or do you think it's still him?
I believe i started and stopped after the first 8 books, then over the last 4 years have been reading them from the beginning. Read the last 10 since March. That is a good question, this last one was a tad off. I still think it’s him.
Loved the high tech visual aids!😂 This series sound interesting but I think I will get to the end of Michael Connelly's books before I get to this one. Thanks for the review!
lol 😂 thanks! Understood. I have been on the lookout for book 1 of the Bosch series at used book stores, haven’t found it yet. I have been bummed, but also think it’s fate telling me I have too much on my reading plate to consider that at the moment….one day soon!
I know Elmore Leonard from his short story 3:10 to Yuma that has been adapted into 2 films of the same name. His book Rum Punch is one I've been thinking about reading for a long time.
I get the feeling about having so much that you want to read but you can only read so much. I limit myself by only reading two books at a time. One book from a series and one standoff that way I don't get overwhelmed or too burned out lol. I've never heard of The God of Endings. Looks interesting and I'm excited to hear what you think about it. And you need to remind your daughters that your ONLY 5/5 on the channel is a book by a female author!
Havent read maximum bob but am familiar with some of his other books. Id be very surprised if you dont enjoy it. The only 5 star review is a female author! Most inclusive channel on the website 😅
Elmore Leonard is so good. I've read all his westerns some of his crime novels. Maximum Bob is great from what I remember having read it a number of years ago. Interesting haul!
first time viewer new subber led here by faceless i read the first 12 published hard case crimes last year, love that type cant recall the name right off, but charles ardai signed one
Welcome and thanks for dropping a comment to let me know! Wow, that is awesome, always cool to get a signature. Also good to hear of others who like the pulp crime noir! Have a good week.
@@kevintowle9665 I think I shoed it in a video this past December or January when I was doing a cover fun time for my twelve, I love that genre, I'm about to finish a novella collection called Transgressions, edited by Ed McBain, it has 10 stories in it that fit that type Good stuff Thank you, you as well!
@@kevintowle9665 I do, we'd be happy to have you join us! The last story in that book edited by McBain, which I finished today, was by Lawrence Block, lol, small literary world.
i wanna start reading, i only read comics when i was a child. dont have any inntrest or the hope to go and finish it. what's u guys books, best, bad, starter, short or long etc(: good video man!
@@kevintowle9665hey, I am inntresert in comics, horror and learning new things, science, history, i always find my way back to jesus so I mabye read the bible, but I still haven't started on it yet/: U know some good books, in history its mainly war stuff, wechlie, weapons, important people(: 😊
@@bozz3058 A little tip I found when I struggled focusing on reading was to read while listening to the audiobook at the same time. It really helps you get immersed in the world and engages more of your senses. That being said since you are on Kevin’s channel you should check out his videos on Why You Should Read certain authors. He does a great job of pitching the authors books and you should be able to find something that sounds interesting! Hope this helps in some way!
I agree with @OddOdieOnline. Great suggestions. As far as History, not a genre I typically read, but check out Michael Kist. Kistreadsbooks I think is his handle. He is all over Tik Tok and reads History genre some. He gives recommendations.
