Wish you would’ve known this about an hour ago I wouldn’t have called off of work! But at least now I can make it to the dealership and get a new fob because when I have it super old, I’m tired of doing with it. Or at least I can get new batteries. But thank you. I’m very grateful that I know this now.
You got me going when seasoned Ford Service advisors didn’t! The right hand side of my steering column has the carved out slot with the key icon, supposedly the place to place my fob (x2) per advisors and multiple RU-vid videos, but I still couldn’t get the vehicle started despite doing everything as instructed and demonstrated. While waiting for a ride and planning to call for a tow to haul my 2019 Escape to the dealership, I stumbled across your video and casually tossed my key to the console area you showed and half-heartedly tried one last time to start the vehicle. BOOM! I was seriously shocked when it worked! You are THE MAN!
@@lostcarkeysreplacement no it was fine I was just trying to add a key then it failed. I get to step where it says does it flash 5 times but it does not
Dealership total cost is around $1800 for BRZ push to start key replacement. They want to replace the ecu, key certification ecu, steering wheel collar lock, the key itself and coding.
@@youngc1987 if it blinks, it means it doesn't recognize the chip because of the dead battery. Or you don't put it close enough. Assuming the key fob is codes and worked before of course
A question: If the key needs to be programmed and the programming that's done on these newer QX60's is with a special tool such as a OBD2 scanner/code reader that connects to the OBD2 port, then wouldn't it be much cheaper to have the programming done at an automotive repair shop by a repair mechanic rather than the dealer or the locksmith, since they're not a an automotive locksmith who knows how much to gouge and overcharge because they're in the business to do specifically just that - automotive keys?
Great video! A little side note, you keep mentioning 2018-2021 Infiniti QX60 at 0:55 and at 2:06, and the thing is Infiniti did not make any QX60's in 2021. So any QX60 that you run into is either going to be a year below or above 2021, so either a 2020 or a 2022. (But the 2022 QX60's design has been completely changed, and most likely they changed guts of the Key too, but that's whole different issue). Thanks for the informative video.
replaced the battery but buttons are doing anything, possible I might need to reprogram? battery been dead at least a month before I was able to replace. key starts car up though
As long as the car starts, you don't need to reprogram. I think its a problem with the buttons that it. Here is a link for a replacement key: amzn.to/4fQ7Jfh Hope this helps
