Enjoy watching first-time nesters, Oren and Ruth in a tall ginkgo tree on the Syracuse University campus.
Oren is a 2020 progeny of beloved SU hawks, SU-Sue and Otto who died from avian influenza in January 2023. Oren returned to the SU campus that Spring with their mate, Ruth, and built this nest but they didn't procreate. Happily, this year their efforts have been successful and we look forward to following their first brood through incubation, hatch to fledge.

How exciting and precious was this? I can't wait for this year's 'first glimpse'!!!! I didn't know this channel existed! So glad for this reposting via FB so that I discovered it and subscribed! Thank you!
Well, now I see what everyone has been talking about: namely, C's "now you see 'im, now you don't" fledge missed by the cameras. Rats! Very unsatisfying and yet perhaps appropriately mysterious. It exposes the mistaken impression that nest cameras can really give us the whole story of the miraculous lives of birds. I think I like it.
