This could be very informative if any information was given on how it was done

Do you know what kind of gems they use on horses with bling? Are they real crystal? I'm having a hard time finding crystal or even glass gems of a large enough size. All I can seem to find is acrylic, resin or plastic. Thank you!

Great job! Questions: What paint did you use? What technique did you use to get the highlights and shadows in the maine?

What kinds of paint did you use? Acrylic gloss, enamel? I'm painting one here soon as well and I want it to be one point.

How did you remove the paint? I have a carousel head that was given one coat of white paint. I want to remove that and repaint it. It has been dated from the late 1800's to 1915.

I may be taking on a project of restoring carousel horses. If you had to document how many hours it took to refurbish this horse, how many hours would it be?

I am working on a carousel. Well I should say that Pottstown Pa has a project going restoring a carousel. the name of the carousel is "The Dereck Scott Saylor Memorial Carousel" The project is "Carousel at Pottstown" and I am luck enough to be volunteering for this project. the carousel is #9 from the toboggan Co of Philadelphia. I sponsored a horse. His name is Buddy. And I would like to fancy up the things surrounding his saddle but am afraid of messing it up. Also I think they use oil paints and I have never used oil paints. I really like the checkered pattern of the horse you did. I wish I could do that to Buddy

You have done an absolutely beautiful job here. The colors are marvelously chosen! I noticed that the left side of your horse is the "romance" side. Is this horse from a European machine, or were the images reversed. American carousels rotate counter-clockwise, ergo the right side is more ornate. Again, beautiful work! Rob

American english and most steamers run clockwise ..all other european carrousels run counter clockwise .. if you look topdown .. and indeed mirrors are on the outside .. so are the manes .... but ofcourse sometimes horses are inter changed and for example you would see english horse going the wrong way on a europen ride .. which will look better standing from the inside .. as there is space to stand inside .. where for example a real horse used to tred ... i dont have this picture anymore ..

The horse was done 'on spec' for Six Flag's carousel restoration but they ended up not having it in their budget to restore the carousel to its original 'quality' :( I was told that the horse I restored is now on display in the Six Flag's corporate offices..!
