Hi, I'm RSKT! An artist based on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia. Over the past few years, I've been trying my best to learn how to create my own music. I've learned a lot by doing it, so I've decided to make this channel not only to share my progress but to also provide some tutorials for how I do all of this stuff.

I have an art channel too! Check out my Featured Channels section for "RSKT - The Capable Artsist."

I've been looking for a better work-through of live-looping on the deluge, & frankly there isn't one- this is excellent, clear, snappy, concise & thorough. I have a question, though- I want to use this live looping functionality to record multiple *takes* of an overdub, ultimately to discard one or more of them & plant the others as a comp or as multiple variants within an arrangement. so say I record a rhthym guitar part several times into adjacent audio clips... all the same length, played against pre-existing clips of percussion, bassline & so on. I end up with six new audio clips, but 1 & 4 are awful. (I'd also quite like to name the underlying audio files of them all, so I know which take is which later.) I want to delete the clips containing 1 & 4. are they gone for good when the song is saved? or are they still on the card somewhere, un-house-kept? workaround is to record the takes one after another into the same clip & cut it up afterwards, but that'll take longer & breaks the workflow; I'd have to make multiple copies of it & edit each one in turn, & that'd mean having audio running in reverse while the start is tweaked, & that's going to break a live-use paradigm I'm into. any ideas? on the housekeeping aspect, especially.
@RSKT_music
@RSKT_music 14 дней назад
Thanks for the kind words! I think I understand your question, but I might not be able to answer it all that well. I think if you delete the audio clips they're gone (could be wrong though). I'm pretty sure if you resample something and delete the clip, it still gets saved in your resample folder, but I'm not too sure with audio clips, and I'm not too sure about saving them either. In terms of reversing the clip to remove the start though - you don't need to do that anymore. As of the Beethoven update, you can now adjust the start of audio clips in the same way you shift midi clips back and forth. It's awesome. Anyways, I hope that helps in some way. You might need to experiment with it all to find your ideal workflow.
@duncan-rmi
@duncan-rmi 14 дней назад
I'm on one of the recent nightlys, not sure if it's beethoven, but I'll check that start-point thing f'sure. Ron C's live-looping tutorial isn't quite as snappy as yours, but he touches briefly on the house-keeping; the audio files are in a temp folder, but can be saved to the song folder explicitly by using the gather-audio song-save feature. what he doesn't say is if that includes ones you've discarded from an arrangement, & deleted the clips. guess I'll have to have a play with that. one reason I'm digging into the live looping is that I have a torso S4 here, & I don't trust it yet! the deluge is a good two-thrids of the audio looping functionality I'd hoped to get from the S4, & they've only just added syncing, & it's a bit unpredictable at the moment.

Hi RSKT, Any advice on why when I'm on arranger view, everything's displayed in White and I get no sound whatsoever ? Cheers
@RSKT_music
@RSKT_music Месяц назад
Hey hey! Thanks for watching. White clips are unique to the arranger view, and represent a new clip made solely to happen in that spot. When you make one, they wont have any notes inside of them. So lets say you have a blue clip, this will be pulling from a clip you made in song view. But lets say you wanted to make a fill, or a unique instance of that instrument doing something before moving back to the loops you've already made. Well, you would use a white clip for just that. A quick instance of something unique. Hope that helps!

It seems I've made a couple of mistakes during this demo, so please read this pinned post for futher clarification! When I demo the NAND output, it behaves similarly to the AND output. This could be because the triggers sent by Euclid Grid are so short that the AND and NAND outputs (rising signals) are basically the same except for a very short delay. A big thankyou to Robert Schwarz on my discord for pointing this out! I'd also like to add a comment here left by Sean Luke on the AE Modular discord server in reaction to my video. It seems I made couple of mistakes with this demo, so hopefully this can clear up any confusion. Here's what Sean said to me - "At 3:26 you say "let's start with NAND". And that's what you hook up. But the function being described is AND, not NAND. So call me confused. AND is high when both its inputs are high, and low otherwise. NAND is LOW when both its inputs are high, and HIGH otherwise. In your example, your have a trigger sequence which, presumably (I don't have that module) outputs a high trigger on each drum beat, and when they match the drum gets a high trigger? But that would be AND.... I think what's happening is that with NAND, it's normally outputting HIGH, and when two matching triggers come in, it goes LOW, but then when they both stop triggering it immediately goes HIGH, which the RBSS interprets as a trigger."

Yeah, I'm sure there will be great things to come. Very happy that the reverb is so much better now. I guess I just wish there were other update options which would implement hardware - like an expression pedal input (to use in lieu of a modulation wheel, etc.), perhaps something as basic and useful as a Sustain pedal input!? I know that these things aren't possible without dedicated jacks, etc. I guess some of those features could be best implemented via MIDI, but it's not ideal. I still love my Deluge and enjoy working on it, and at least they ARE making improvements quite regularly. So glad that you continue to upload such excellent content - I'm sure for many people your videos are a big part of what keeps the interest up, and people educated and updated. Very helpful. It takes time, but it's hassle free and would make life a lot easier for finishing things off in a DAW. To be honest, the first time I noticed sample dropping on my Deluge was when they introduced Wavetables. Old songs I'd made wouldn't play the same, and it never seemed to be resolved. I haven't noticed any sample dropping on the new firmware that wasn't present during that particular update, but that's just my own experience.

Hey, good to see you here. Thanks so much dude! I'm on the fence about covering Beethoven soon, or waiting until it's out of beta. Not sure yet :/

Ya, I’m sure the production time is heavy on these. You’re quite excellent at covering it all and in ways an idiot like me can understand it. FWIW this vid is still helpful and enlightening to me and I’ve been on Amadeus since it released. Woulda been a godsend a while back when scraping this info was pretty difficult. I doubt Beethoven will change much outta beta so it might be worth dropping that one sooner than later. Even your quick community features vid from a while back is still the best for that. 😉 excellent work as always my friend! You’re very appreciated!!

@@oaklandghosts0510 Thanks for the advice man, and the kind words! I'll try and start production on Beethoven sooner rather than later then. Might mean I'll get to covering the next firmware sooner too haha

Thanks for your teavhings. Don't know why but in grid view, even after selecting green on, it just doesn't stays there. How do you erase a clip on grid mode?
@RSKT_music
@RSKT_music 3 месяца назад
So you need to go into the settings to change the latching between green and blue mode. I think to erase you hold down on a clip (in blue mode) and then press delete. Definately have a read of the release notes on github for this if you need more info. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching.

@@djoy38 Hmmm, that's definately weird. Maybe have a look at Ron's videos on grid view. He does a great job of showing the setting of at the very start of his video.
