Wow! so sorry to hear of your experience. I'm glad you guys were ultimately able to make it safely and I hope you reported that driver to Uber and got your money back. He definitely should not have done that. I traveled to Baru a couple times but it was only to playa Blanca and I always used the beach club's (hotel's) transportation. I planned on taking an uber to the Botanical Garden in the near future, but this video is definitely making me reconsider that plan. Thanks for sharing!
thanks for watching! I hope you have so much fun!!! Definitely check out some of the spots in the video. The people there are so nice and welcoming too!
I just booked my solo trip to Aruba last week. I’m gonna make sure I purchase weights for my tripod because I’m gonna have to get all my own footage too. I was a little nervous about staying at a Airbnb solo but I see you’ve done it successfully.✨🙏🏾👏🏽✈️
LOL that is a must! I'm surprised I didn't break anything the amount of times my tripod fell. I got pretty lucky. It was a real cheap one though at the time
Great video. I’ll be traveling there soon. I will definitely take your advice and pay for transportation through a hotel or whatever if possible. Glad you all are safe!
If you're going to Getsemani though, it's pretty walkable and taxis from the airport are very reliable. Thanks so. much for watching! I hope you have a BLAST!
I just came back from CTG and my worst experience was with cab drivers and street vendors. Some drivers are just crazy and reckless. Vendors are like a bug infestation. They are everywhere pushing their stuff and don't let you enjoy your privacy
So true! I understand they're trying to make a living but it definitely gets to be a lot :/ ... Getsemani wasn't as bad though even though it was kinda touristy.
Absolutely! I think there's a right way to do it for sure. I had a lot of fun! Check out my other Cartagena Vlog. I think it gives a better idea of what to do and it's pretty affordable for the most part. You can get real good food at a reasonable price: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nQUFLbzMoFM.html
@@BereniceAchille that's what I wanted to hear!!! How bad was the rainfall/winter?? Flights in june seem to be super affordable but the rainfall seems vicious.
@@primetimeprima8934 when it rained, it was only for 5-10 minutes or just over night. It really wasn't bad at all! I went end of June. Just take advantage of those sunny days :)
Colombia ahaha, wag masyadong magtiwala sa bansang Colombia lalo na sa airport nila, ahaha dami Adik diyan at legalize drugs Jan, fuck Colombia greetings from Philippines
Can you Venmo me 10 bucks for it? Just kidding!! Here it is below, have so much fun!! www.airbnb.com/rooms/51745728?source_impression_id=p3_1713273265_90yxtMeQC0PKB5Jh
We were soooo scared! I really think this captured that fear. I'm also trying to improve my storytelling so this comment made my day! thanks so much for watching!
Hi! I believe it was somewhere between 3 and 5 dollars for the guide (not including tip/optional) and then we had to pay again at that stop but it was less than 10. I think about 6 USD. It's cheaper for nationals though. Definitely worth it!
It's really unfortunate. I think it's worth giving it another try with a different perspective BUT there are also so many other places to visit in the world that I see your point and understand the feeling.
LOL!!! I love this! We took an Uber from that hostel. I don't remember how much it cost exactly but I think it was around COP24,000, definitely less than COP25,000
i’m from Cartagena working in tourism and i always advice against going to Baru by yourself, people are assholes in that island, they take advantage of tourists, your uber driver was the biggest asshole, i’m sorry you had that experience, next time take the hotel transport
I couldn't find much info about going to Baru when I was looking at how to get there. BUT I'm glad to have made it safely. Thank you for watching and for your advice for next time!
It's a privilege not to have to think about your race as you move through the world. That's not everyone's reality unfortunately. “Race doesn't really exist for you if it has never been a barrier. Black folks don't have that choice.”
You are such an inspiration. I have been dying for going traveling, but I have postponed because am single, I really wanted to share the journey with someone special, but you just taught me a huge lesson, I will just have to do it on my own, maybe I find my better have in one of my travels. By the way, I love your hair, you are so beautiful, I taught you were Dominican. Thank you for sharing, you did a good job.
Thank you for your comment! Definitely take that leap! You meet so many cool people while traveling and it helps you grow so much. I hope you get to experience a solo trip soon! Keep me posted.
Hey! I booked it on getyourguide.com but I also checked viator. A lot of the companies advertise on multiple sites. I'd compare to get the best price. Thanks for checking out the vlog!
Absolutely! This was filmed this past December. Medellín is nicknamed the city of Eternal Spring for a reason! Also Cartagena was in the mid-90s fahrenheit in December.
who was filming me at which part? If the video is still (not moving), I used a tripod, If my arm is extended I'm using the same tripod as a selfie stick.
Also fyi traveling solo doesn't mean you don't talk to anyone. You can meet new people while you're in a new place. You can ask them to film you or take your photo but in this video, I recorded myself and on my phone :)
This is the type of travel vlog that I love to see and hope to aspire with my future travel vlogs ♥️ I relate so much with being careful who you tell your goals to and whatnot. I went on my first solo trip to Ecuador last year and I didn’t tell anyone til 2 weeks before my trip. I only told my family just because I was having my brother take me to the airport and my parents just in case of emergency. That was the best decision I have ever made because it is so true with people projecting their fears onto you. I didn’t even tell my best friend until AFTER I came back even though she likes to travel and is free spirit but I knew she would tell people that we are mutuals with and they would have projected on me. I only spoke loosely with 2 people at work about traveling because one of them travels internationally every year with his family and the other person was interested in doing travel. Even they didn’t know where I was going until I got there 😂 But yes I only speak to people about my goals or things I’m planning with people that have already done it or is on the same path as me. Thank you for this video. El Salvador is on my list for my second solo trip. I’m subscribing and about to watch the rest of your videos 🫶🏾
Thank you so much for watching and for your comment! It's unfortunate that people project their fears onto others but I know most of the time they don't do it with malice. Even so, gotta protect your peace and fully enjoy travelling! lol... We can tell them when we're back and show pics LOL. I hope you love El Salvador! there's so much to do, the people were so nice. I really loved it.
9:36 Yup! I agree with you 100% on that one. Have fun and Live your life to the fullest. My sister goes through the same with my mom. Mom tells her not to go alone cause something can happen out there yet she’d be staying with our aunt who lives out there and is even more over protective. I have to remind them that she’s a grown ass women in her 40’s. 😂
