Metallica hasn’t released anything truly great since 1991. If everything that came after had been put out by another band, it would have been completely ignored. Metallica really only existed for 10 years, and they’ve been riding that hype ever since.
I know a lot of people that would agree with you. The quality certainly dipped after 1991, but I still think there is some fantastic music put out by the band after the Black Album.
Hi, it seems my comments get deleted by YT for whatever reason. I wrote a fairly long message like 10 minutes ago and it was already removed. In it I was recommending you the Guitar Hero version of Death Magnetic because it has a far superior mastering compared to the album version. I'll keep this one short then. My own ranking is basically Kill 'em All at #1 (which I think should say "by Metallica and Dave Mustaine", though), then Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets tied at second place, then And Justice For All (significantly lower although I still love most of it), and then it doesn't really matter to me. I bought the black album the day it was released 33 years ago and it was a crushing disappointment. "My Friend of Misery" could have been one of their best songs ever, Jason's intro and the verse are absolutely amazing, but the singalong happy happy chorus absolutely kills it for me. As far as I'm concerned, they've never made new music anywhere as good after that. I love rock, hard rock and even a lot of pop music, but I never found Metallica very good at it. To each their own, of course.
I just love more progressive and complex (but not too complex) songs on And justice for all, so I have to put it as my number one. Also I am not AS down on St Anger. Of course it's badly produced, but emotionally it made sense. Personal issues, band's internal problems, at least it's a capture of time
I only own the first 4 and I don’t know if I could pick a favorite. I can throw each of them on and listen to the entire thing without skipping a track so I would be tough to choose.
@@WallofGainI set my whole schedule aside for it. The performance for Stella! But now some things are surfacing with her background and Scientology and supporting the very thing Chester fought against. It just doesn’t sit right with me.
I really don't like the new cover with all the members of the band removed from the room. It's such an iconic cover, why did they have to mess with it with a BS modern reinterpretation...
Getting double albums on CDs are much easier, for example vinyl repress of Melon Collie is really expensive where I live, because it's a big 4LP package

Billy tries too hard. I remember when he made Adore and said he'd already did everything possible on the guitar. I remember Monuments being billed as "guitars guitars guitars". Billy chooses to sing this way which was ok with me ten years ago but now he doesn't need to, he can still sing the old way but won't for some reason. It would really do the music more justice but hey he'll do his thing. Dude is 57 and still going so ok i just don't see anything historical here.
Great review! I thought the album was ok, the only song I’d come back to is edin though. My only problem is that it sounds like Billy’s trying too hard to sound smart.
Thank you for the feedback. I agree, it really sounds like he is trying to sound like "old school pumpkins" on some tracks. I'm not complaining though!! 😆
Apparently, they were singing SANBORN (NOT Sam Hall) ... in tribute to the famous saxophonist who had died a few days earlier. Eric had worked with him previously. The song is, though, called Sam Hall, as also sung by The Dubliners, and others.
