It sounds like the monthly retainer from clients include the tax return, but he is sending them to a strategic partner to do the tax return. So did he work out a price for that return with that partner, that firm and he is paying that from the retainer?
How does a bookkeeper make time for all that mining? RU-vid videos, calls, messages, and networking events is practically a full work load on its own…..how does one manage this while also having a handful of bookkeeping clients as is?
I bought my first investment property in February. It was a duplex with existing tenants. They were paying under market rent with previous owner. When i took over , both tenants decided they weren't gonna sign my lease or pay rent. Lucky i was able to get to leave. Had to pay to clean it and get ready for next potential tenants. Sad to say im still looking for a tenant. So its only cost me a bunch of money!

so you sell to bookkeepers like everyone else but you dont do the biz of bookkeeper cause thats hard. again, you jumped out of the low paying biz (smmmart as hell) and became a content creator (brilllllant) 🎉
I don’t sell to bookkeepers because they’re a good niche, I do it because I built a special firm, have credibility in it and it’s a path of least resistance. Trust me, my remodelers, concrete contractors, home builders, and just about every other niche is 100% more efficient to sell to - I teach bookkeepers and offer the course and the services because it’s something we’re able to deliver on… Also, are you suggesting that Bookkeeping is harder than finding business clients, selling to them and landing them? That’s not what 90% of folks would suggest. I appreciate the engagement.

One correction/clarification, any rental property with an average stay of 30 days or less has to be depreciated over 39 years over 27.5. So Airbnbs/VRBOs fall into that "commercial" category of 39 years (unfortunately).

I’m not your lawyer, but if you don’t give investment selection advice and you don’t call yourself these the wrong name, you’re able to give quite a bit of perspective. All the tax and budgeting and future value stuff isn’t really regulated - it’s selling advice for investments and selling securities and selling insurance.
I would say it's great for bookkeeping but with taxes even though firms like KPMG outsource, taxpayer info is too sensitive and they would get access to my tax software that has personal information of 100s of people. I hate Quickbooks and outsource that. Im sure 99% of tax clients would not want that outsourced as foreigners have a stigma in the U.S for scamming even though most foreigners actually do great work and are trustworthy.
Fair enough! I’m always surprised how every accounting firm will outsource, value and spend extra time on various things. Most tax firms that offshore just want help getting things organized for review. The accounting and bookkeeping is sure nice to offshore
You know, lawyers can't suit software. Businesses will still need someone to take responsibility and ensure it's right. I really think the need is for a more complete solution - bookkeeping, with tax planning, with CFO style guidance, with sales/crm/project management. The key is to provide a highly integrated, highly valuable service.
‘Saw something in me.’ CFA likes churchy-church wimps who will do the song and dance - pull out Dan’s shoe shine kit and polish black’s shoes (search RU-vid for Dan Cathy shoe shine) to work as their owner operators. This twit obviously fit that bill.
