There are some multiple places in Le Morne where you can learn wingfoiling, it is where the depth is more than "shoulder" level. And for skilled foilers it is rideable in most places I believe. Of course it is better to do on high tides.
Nice video! And some nice gybes! Would it be true to say that as the power comes in you tend to lean back and ride the fin? I'd suggest instead keeping forward and crunching to keep the board flat and drive the power through the mast foot. That should stop the nose and tail from wandering about in the chop. I'd say the same thing to all the other sailors in that clip too - and indeed to my former self, but then I went to a clinic and they 'fixed' me!
You are right - it is a mistake to lean back, because it immediately increase the drag. Instead it makes sense to close the sale, effectively de-powering it. But it is so natural to make this mistake, so I personally make this mistake when tired + strong gusts + large chop.
According to www.soaringusa.com/neutrino-f5j-4m-x-tail.html it is DI8120~820, 6.9~5.0%. But I'm not really knowledgeable in this area, so cannot say anything more.
Yes, it is in Mauritius. Unfortunately the wave conditions are not consistent last 6 months. But for sure they are seasonal. High season is from May to October. Low is November to April. It's all relative of course.
How were the locals? I know they aren't too friendly to tourists. I'm heading out 3rd of Feb but would love to score a few sessions. Obviously respecting locals
@@lloydjones1954 When you respect locals, they are not offensive. At least it didn't happen to me. But, frankly speaking, I'm a beginner, and almost never share the spot with them. In Tamarin they surf mostly on the reef, which is quite dangerous when you are beginner. I tried few times and gave up. So I decided to practice on the Small Reef in Le Morne. There the atmosphere is more friendly.
@@timofftube 2:38 - that's me getting dropped in on out the back by this beginner lady. It's getting more and more insane out there. Respect the locals and know your limits / don't go to the reefbreak if you don't have the appropriate level. If you think you do, remember that the main peak is reserved to the best local surfers and old timers. The biggest problem with beginners is that, once they learn how to stand up, they think they can surf any break when that's clearly not the case. The reefbreak is fast and shallow, even for intermediate surfers. Learn the etiquette and look at the wave when you are positionning to go, not at the beach. Maybe take a lesson or two with a surf guide to understand what I'm talking about.
Deadly locals when the wave is firing up. It’s a very rare wave. Works with very tiny window of swell direction and strength and period and height …. This guy on the video is surfing the bay. The end of the wave into the sendy bottom of tamarin bay. You don’t even need booties where this guy is trying to surf 😂. But good on you keep on mate ! We all get thru your stage of surfing.. the real wave is the one we see … the powerful left …Dal and blackstone, the right on the other side of the bay. Tamarin bay is magic
How much does that weigh ready for flight? It appeared that it thermals pretty well. I did a search on the battery you used for it...Hobby King has them for...$8.01(?). That seems hard to believe for a 3S45C battery. I didn't see anything about it actually having graphene in it though, must just be a marketing thing. Very misleading.
Flight weight is approximately 1.4 kilo, can't recall exactly. The battery was not expensive, but again, purchased few years ago and don't remember the price.
Thx for sharing!👌🏼 Coming from Germany, I‘m absolutely not used to this amount of water in such a short time.🫣 Two years ago I‘ve been to Mauritius at exactly the same time and it was always sunny for nearly three weeks. I‘ve seen some footage from Souillac and it was devastating. Hope that all inhabitants of this lovely Island are doing well and that no one was hurt. 👍🏼
Rain is good, but high carbon footprint 👣, used to be green area. A small island overdeveloped to the point of disappearing The cause of this situation is the chief of this village failed to take advice from geologist on flood prevention, overpopulation
Yes, it was quite unexpected. But the level of water lowered back quickly, in 1 hour after the time of filming it was much better. Quickly came, quickly gone.
I just gave 7 thumbs 👎 down for videos because I wanted to just see someone fly a yak55 around so I can see how it performs but you just can't find any out there that's not doing ridiculous moves flying them like they are broken or something it just gets old So thank you very much for the video of you actually laying it. 👍
Even looks scary the big wave ocean. But beautiful thank you for great sharing. The music was epic like movie. Regards from new friend here sending support. ❤🔔
