What, no 33 inch muddies, no turbo diesel, no Performance chip, no 4 inch lift, no snorkel, how in the hell can you expect that old girl to go anywhere but the shops for a chiko roll and coke! Just goes to prove most just waste their hard earned on show and no go. Mr Beadell trail blazed most of the interior long before any tracks, he actually made them, surveying those tracks and making them in a basically standard SWB government Landrover standard wheels engine with a few changes, brush guards roof rack winch ect, all primitive by today’s standards. Thanks for your films, a wonderful source of nightly entertainment, no frills, no BS, no advertisements, just honest adventures. You won me. And what a great series 2 you have, nostalgia in spades. I might be lucky enough to actually own one in the future. All the best. Rob…
I know that in Australia in years gone by the series LR was competing with the Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 in serious off-road applications. How can you compare the two as they are differently built and have different design features. What are the realistic / practical advantages of one over the other in the Australian outback environment?
So Australia has become a brainless nanny state with screw the people laws. Not all 4 wheel drives have a center diff, my 2a Landrover didn't, and my 3 4x4 GM trucks don't. You need to get educated, or find a different subject to comment on.
I have a series 3 with a holden 6 in it but the front cross member has been removed but I am not sure why as the engine would of cleared it, surely it wasn't done just to fit the old radiator back in. Do you know what radiator is fitted to yours as I can see the cross member is still installed.
Thanks for your thoughts. I run 265/75 R 16 on my 1960 109. They are on steel 16" x 8" - 4.25" Backspacing rims fitted with KM2's. I went with these rims to clear the Timm Cooper disc brake conversion. Works awesome! Tires have worn great with several trips to Nevada and the Mojave Desert.
Great video, just wondering how the poly bushes do in the front end of the series. Ive had quite a bit of trouble with them, especially in the spring eye. They end up with the flange torn off in 2-3 months time. Not sure if its another problem or weather different shackles are needed to clamp the bush in place.
Hey there Geoff, First off very very nice video and actually the only one of its kind on RU-vid. However i wanted to ask, as i have been reading about LT95As lately due to the fact that i wish to use one in my 83 110 V8. I actually found that the Perentie LT95As have the higher ratio in them along with the 12C LT95 Rangie boxes at 0.996 : 1. The Perenties though had a great big torquey Isuzu up front compared to the civilian Landies. The lowest LT95 ratio i think is the early 110 one at 1.336 : 1. Correct if i am wrong however. Take care !
@seriouslyseriesaustralia High Range. Did you mean low range ? If so then disregard what I said previously. All LT95s I think had the same low range ratio.
Good advice Geoff, I think that tires with a very aggressive tread are not an advantage on a classic Land, the same for the heavy reinforced rims, keeping the weight down is a great help for the halfshafts.
Hi there. I run a fleet in WA doing remote exploration work. Damon runs a fleet in Tassie. I run a Geology Consultancy company on the side of Seriously Series. Cheers Geoff
Will Road to Ruin be available on South African Apple TV+ any time soon? Been trying everything to connect to the Australian catalog but no luck!! Please keep us posted Geoff!
Hi Franco I haven’t released this information yet, but it is our on AppleTV, Google play, RU-vid movies and soon to be out on Amazon as of the 16th of this month. Cheers Geoff
Thanks for all the videos, really found them useful having picked up a Perentie in the UK. If you've any videos planned where you're driving the Perentie and showing what the gear changes should be like that would be awesome. I suspect the synchro in mine is gone, but I'm unsure what a 35 year old gearbox is supposed to be like 😂
Hi Matt. Good point, though these springs have e a different profile and load rating, so the give a smooth ride when they aren’t carrying a load. Cheers Geoff
Love the 109 Station Wagon, I think it’s one of the most versatile Land Rovers ever made and the ride is a bit less choppy than an 88. Look forward to following your progress working through all the well known issues which are often found on a vehicle this age. A long haul but will definitely be worth it when completed.
I know that for the Perentie, different high range output gears were fitted depending on the model. You can buy these independently to fit, but need to make sure you get the correct bearing type. That applies to the gear lever too, as slightly different ones were used for the Stage I vs Range Rover vs 101 FC vs Perentie.
the LT95 transfer has about 9 different ratios . The Range rover were the that had the smaller brake drum The isuzu powered country on had the bigger Hand brake drum
the fastest race Land Rover ? Clickbait !! Not being rude, you need to do your hone work! , there’s race landy in the uk running 600 hp + and then there’s the US ones As for the landy it’s nice and bloke that owns it is going to have some fun I’ve lost interest in watching any more Of your misinformed Clickbait by
@@seriouslyseriesaustraliaalso the you did a video on where to buy parts, when ordering being in Australia do you buy multiple parts. So what do you carry as parts or class as consumables regards Matt
Geoff , A Perentie I drove once with a "new" Lt95a gearbox didn't have a rear main seal fitted! 2.5 days of additional 15mm & 17mm adventure followed. C.
It is out on Apple TV, VUDU, Google Play, RU-vid Movies and is just about to be released on Amazon. Netflix's wasn't interested in it they just want more of the same stuff they already have. Link below, Cheers Geoff ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-PQe0OrlDyDc.html
I have the issue with several things for example ebay I need to change my location to Ukraine for example to find tobacco seed for purchase or to the US for mantles for kersene pressurised lamps and heaters, it is a pain but currently a necessity, I don’t know if Amazon lets you change location though
Hi Matt. I have had to change wheel nuts to a 16mm to suit the dynamic rims we run, I haven't had to change the wheel studs as the rims are the same thickness as the original land rover rims. Cheers Geoff
Going on about jerry cans on the roof.. So many people put roof top tents on the roof these days, unlike jerry cans which the weight goes down as you use the fuel. A rooftop tent is a constant 60-70kg all time.
Hi There. There hasn't been a follow up video as of yet as i am still waiting for the Series motor to come back after its third rebuild. Kind regards, Geoff
Alot of people spit on rovers and a disrespectfull to the marke. Seems like somone grumbled and did a crap rebuild. Have you pulled the motor apart yourself geoff? I think you can have good compression butnupon installation maybe an oil ring was broken? But wouldnt a spark plug be oily?
Hi Matt. The motor has been stripped and has nearly been rebuilt for the third time. Alot was wrong with it, the ring gaps were way off and the oil pump failed, timing was out by 180 degrees and the list goes on. Kind regards, Geoff
