So happy to have found this video!! I know it was posted 7 years ago, but this information is still just as helpful as I’m sure it was back then! My locs were thinning at the root and I couldn’t for the life of me figure out why! I had so much new growth, but the locs, especially the ones in the center of my head were thin. I found myself either having to tie a knot to prevent them from snapping off or twisting the new growth into the loc. I have an appointment to get my hair retwisted this weekend. I’d been going through major depression over the last year and when I sat down to make my appointment, I realized I haven’t had a Retwist in over a year! Hoping they can save/restore my locs.
This is sooo helpful! I’ve been wondering what I’ve been doing wrong and hadn’t considered it’s how my hairs grows. I get this right at the back mostly since I started locs 18 months ago. The first time I had my locs combined but will manage this issue like this moving forward (starting with two locs).
Lost pretty much half my length over the last 3 years. Long story short I went through some shit and just stopped taking care of my locs. 3 years ago they were at my waist now they are all different lengths due to my locs thinning. I'm want to save my locs. Please help. Can't find anyone in Jersey.
Hi! It still amazes me how "guys" really get into & embraces their own locs...when you think of hair & ..you just think of woman worrying about their hair...but i have learned that men....too. care about their hair/ locs! Too. Wow...congrats I started my journey b4 2024....it is definitely trying my patience indeed.. my hair is currently budding...& almost 8 months in...w/ soft fine hair....little did i i know....thinking i was 4cccccc....yeah right. Finding out something different. I am loving my process...& all stages. Ty...for giving me a guys perspective on locs!! Congrats 😂🎉 .
Thanks! Yeah, I don’t think gender matters when it comes to caring for your hair. Guys care for the short hair as well, making sure those cuts and lineups are crispy😂 Locs are just a different length which requires different maintenance. Anyway, congrats on almost 8 months!

I tied a knot in a few dreads like 5 months ago and didn't even to see if it was safe or anything until and recently was thinking about it again as i was feeling my the knots in some of dreads thinking "no no what did i do??" haha glad to see it usually isn't really that big of deal and my hair is probably not going to just start breaking off
SIR!!!!!! u have single handedly saved my locs i was so frustrated thinkin i was doin somethin wrong all the while my hair was growing away from my locs…i did this technique nd fell in love all over again wit my decision to loc…a huge thank u…forever grateful 🤎🤎
