When it comes to your good drawing (not sketching) I recommend a good quality paper like Arches hot-pressed (smooth) watercolour paper 300 gsm or similar. The weight is vital to be able to take the layers of pencil. It does come down to personal preference, you may have to try a few brands to see what suits you.
I have started using multiple layers of this amazing film. I love it and using coloured pencils that so easy and now pan pastels, this is exiting. Thank you 🙏
I never thought that pan pastel on the film so I am excited about using them on the film. I have used one and two layers and what I also like is using a frame that is two panes of glass and the film works well in this situation. Thank you Kate for your knowledge. 🤗
Affirmations are the starting network in the brain, neurologically building a network 💪, it works because this is how the brain works 🙏🏻❤️ thank u for bringing this to peoples attention ❤️ love the video 🙏🏻❤️
The paper I used here is Arches hot-pressed and it does look grainy in the video because it's zoomed in, it's actually a lovely paper to work on, same paper as the bald eagle is on.
It can be known by its brand names like Duralar, Polydraw or Grafix and there is a printing 'vellum' very similar to drafting film but not the same. Hope this helps.
Great video I find that the softer pencils get better results, if you use gouch paints if you put it on to thick its a lot harder to go over with colour pencils.
Nice palette Kate, think it would work well for my Airedales, could you tell me what the golden color and the reddish brown on the rump of mom are? Thanks
Thank you! The golden colour on her rump was Light Yellow Ochre moving to Brown Ochre and the reddish brown was Burnt Ochre with some India Red and Caput Mortuum drifting to Caput Mortuum Violet for the darker shadows, these are all Polychromos. I think these colours would work well for Airedales.
I still have Karisma color pencils, a complete illustrator box, but I needed watercolor pencils and now have albrecht durer aquarel pencils, I wanted the carandache but tooooooo expensive 🤦🏼♀️but the Faber castell is wonderful and does the same as carandache . Loved the video 👌❤️
The albrecht durer are lovely pencils and so nice to use. The Caran d'ache are expensive maybe you could buy as singles to add to your collection? Thank you too! ☺
@@katejenveyfineart It is a pleasure to see your passion even at this age and Is this your first RU-vid channel? and And do I know about NFT where it is sold?
I sign right under corner always for the last 40 years , but always in sight , and only my last name ‘Van Eijk’ . Love the video , lots of beginners artist don’t know where to sign, so helpful ❤️👌✨
I sign my artwork right before it is about to be finished..as opposed to when its finished..and then i would find it sticks out to much attention is paid attention to it.If it blends in, then im happy with it!
@katejenveyfineart yes if I find it out of place when finished...and can't do anything about it I just blend it in beforehand...then finished it. Found that's the best for me .
Hi, I'm new to drafting film. I was wondering why you can't use the Panpastel on the front of the drawing as it lays down beautifully on the surface. Thanks!
Thanks for your question. You can use it on the front for sure, it's just a personal choice. If the film you are using is double matte you could use either the front, the back or both.
