In terms of the not converting, the few balls before you got out you ran a few quick 2’s and you where a bit out of breath and then swung at 2 wide ones, 2 balls in a row. The ball before you got out was the warning when it nearly spooned to backward point and then you played the same shot again and was caught. Probably just down to mental tiredness and fatigue from the running so didn’t play great shots. But other than that batted really well and as if you where in a T20. You can build a bit slower for 30over, especially opening. If ever my breathings heavy from some runs. I always get that back under control with. Few defences or leaves and then play shots again when I’m back in my zone! That’s what I’d say to think about anyway. You will accurate more runs the more time you spend in the middle.

He was bowling a consistent 4/5th stump line and I was playing and missing a lot. I guess they figured one would eventually catch the edge. He did the same in the next game.

I've definitely been trying to work on my bubble and controlling the focus. If something doesn't feel right I'll walk away then come back, tap 4 times and go. I didn't realise til watching I played the same shot three times in a row.

If the ball is short, wide outside off try to play over it rather than going under is ( as a result you got out) otherwise well played......

Have they heard of mowers over in Canada? What's the story with the luscious growth in the field. You smash it and it doesn't even make it to mid on?
@alpinecricketer
@alpinecricketer 12 дней назад
The story is that a lot of the pitches are on city/council land. Unfortunately their groundskeepers are very stubborn and often ignore requests from the clubs. Our outfield is cut at 2.5 inches which is about 3 times more than it should be and there's sprinklers underneath!! But I believe I convinced our groundsman to slowly start reducing the length. It felt like it went a little quicker along the ground in the following game.
@AVRCricket
@AVRCricket 12 дней назад
@alpinecricketer in our comp in Australia they're all on council land and it's rare that we get grass even a quarter as long as that. And we have mens matches on Saturday, women's on Sunday, juniors Wednesday and Friday. Guess it shows their priorities? It really hurts your style of batting since some of your shots would have at least a single, but instead get stuck in the grass for a dot.
@alpinecricketer
@alpinecricketer 11 дней назад
@AVRCricket I'm with you. I think there's a few that would otherwise race to the boundary. Something to work on, might have to leave the groundsman a nice bottle of something end of season to butter him up for next year haha! They just love to have pristine green lawns, the sprinklers come on every morning which makes early starts spicy.

yes, you were the cause on the confusion. the calls are waiting yes or no, not just nooo or yess. waiting is your first call
@alpinecricketer
@alpinecricketer 23 дня назад
I agree for when the ball went behind that was my call. But often when I was at the non strikers end, the striking batsmen would just hit and run which was a real mess for me. I got flustered and started forgetting to call. As for my mixed calling, I found it hard to judge if there was a run due to the long grass. On a normal outfield, a lot more shots would have beat the fielder. But instead I'd find the ball would just stop so I'd have to re assess after it let the ball and called. Nothing wrong with changing my mind though.

The reason why your struggling against his bowling is because when your going to score runs through a drive for example your not moving your foot closer to the ball leaving a big gap between bat,pad and ball as soon as it moves closer you'll feel yourself having better capabilities to score more on the off-side
