A prompt about when to breathe in and out would be very helpful for those who are new to these exercises. Might you consider putting up signs as reminders?

My Dad has Severe Progressive Lung Fibrosis. His Oxygen level was going down to 79. I took him to the Hospital with Lyft last Wednesday. The Determined he has Severe Progressive Lung Fibrosis. The Doctor called me Saturday and told me his Prognosis is months to maybe a year. Its totally not realistic for some People to Swim,Walk,Run,Ect..Ect...Ect...Ect....NOT REALISTIC AT ALL!!!! The Doctor Sent him hom with an Inhaler and some cough pills that seem to be helping him and he decided to go for a walk around his bkock yesterday andbhe said hed walk 1/4 of a block or less and stop and support his weight on his cane and he mad eit around the block barely. He says dbit dn near killed him. He could not even make it into his house when ue git home. He had to sit in his Rocking chair oitside first. He also did laundry and Made himself a Steak. So he went on a walk around the block,Cooked and laundry and hes down exhausted today. He cant do that much. Also they sent him home on level 6 with his oxygen when hes doing something. Sitting down its 2 or 3. He was on a 5 before....when doing something. Also he had Covid 3 times amd it further damaged his lungs... Boundless energy!!!????????? How is that even possible? We can build him up little by little since the Covid pandemic. But its unrealistic to think my Dad or anyone with Severe Progressive Lung Fibrosis can Run Marathons. It's unrealistic. How often and for how long do you do all these activities.. I mean it sounds like that is Literally most of what you do.My Dad had been extremely active his entire life...And in very good shape. He mhas jad always pushed himself and still does and he got dizzy last week and hemis oxygen drops down to 79 or even 85....So it not good. Hes always been a go getter and doer. His progressive Pulmonary fibrosis that was CAused from working around Nuclear Weapons while and Aspestos on the Airplanes he was An Aviation Mechanic for the B-52's,in the Military and Aspestos Brakes while an Auto Mechanic for 25 years once he got out of tue Military.
I'm sorry to hear about your dad's lung condition, and I sincerely hope he finds the strength to cope. It is tough on both family and friends, and my heart goes out to you and your community as you navigate through this condition. You are absolutely right-exercise can vary greatly depending on individual circumstances, especially with severe lung conditions like your dad's. There's no one-size-fits-all approach, and it's essential to tailor activities to each person's capabilities. The interview was intended to offer motivation for individuals cleared by their healthcare providers to engage in movement, but by no means was it meant to advocate for intense exercise sessions. I understand the significant adjustment your dad must be facing, transitioning from an active lifestyle to his current situation. Starting with simple seated exercises may be a gentle way to begin, but it's important to have a conversation with his healthcare provider first. They can provide personalized guidance and ensure his safety throughout the process.
TODAY I HAVE MET YOU FOR THE FIRST TIME. AND I LIKED YOUR WORKOUT VERY MUCH. ALL CARDIO EXERCISES INTEREST ME. BECAUSE I HAVE HEART PROBLEMS. YOUR EXERCISES ARE INTERESTING AND DOABLE. THANKS A LOT. I WISH GOOD LUCK TO YOUR CHANNEL.
thanks Jill! This was great! I know its different for everyone, but when would be a good indication to stop exercising and take a rest before the time is up? I found my shortness of breath was a little more severe but not too bad.
Glad you enjoyed the workout Leeanne! It is a good idea to take a rest when your breathing is at or just above severe breathlessness. Great work for taking a break when you did! You can refer to the dyspnea or shortness of breath scale to help gauge your exercise intensity. This is a scale from 0-10. 0 = no shortness of breath, 5 = severe shortness of breath and 10 = maximal shortness of breath. Check out this blog post that includes the scale: www.imasterhealth.com/2022/06/16/cardiovascular-training-with-a-chronic-respiratory-condition/ Hope this helps!
Hi Shalini! HIIT is short for High Intensity Interval Training. It is a type of workout that alternates short periods of intense exercise with brief recovery periods or low-intensity exercises!
