Author, coach, and more! Founder of Dora Kurimay Inc, Dora is a Mental Performance Coach, Table Tennis Professional, and an Athlete. Dora started playing table tennis at age 8 in Budapest, Hungary. By age 14 she was encouraged to seek help from a mental performance psychologist, "even though I didn’t want to, this helped me become a better player and allow me to become a European Champion in teams in my age group and one of the top players in Europe under age 18".
"When I first picked up my table tennis paddle at the only female table tennis club in Budapest, Hungary, I never imagined the places I would go playing table tennis as a table tennis professional. From traveling around the world playing juniors to meeting other amazing athletes - table tennis opened many doors for me to make friends, experience other cultures, and ultimately find a passion for sport psychology".
This is awesome information. I am a 1400 level player and have experienced the ‘Flow’ but want to be more consistent. Just bought your ‘Game Face book. Thanks🏓😊
Do any exriesie with one of those 11 yr old who have been playing since thay were 3. No matter what exrise thay will smach evry ball at you with kinda bad placement. Play with them before a match you'll move much faster and be redy for evrything.
If your a defensive player choping far away from the table. Your legs should not be as far down, but remember to go down again when you get close to the table.
This is really interesting, but maybe a preview picture in picture would be great for those of us not aware of all the drills. Definitely going to try this through Xmas though.
I have been teaching myself the forehand topspin with a robot and the problem I have right now is that I dont shift my feet into position when I get information from the angle of the opponents racket. The robot creates a fake situation where you dont look at the movement and balance of an opponent, so I have the habit of waiting to look at how the ball is moving instead of looking at where the ball is going to go even before it hits the opponents racket. This takes a long time to train, and all I have right now is decent form and physical. I hope I can put it into a practical game setting soon because I rarely ever get to use it. I am an adult learner and I have to pay loads of money to even have someone block for me. Thankfully, I have been able to get myself to a level with the robot to where some good defensive players are willing to practice with me and do drills :-). I think the social aspect of table tennis is very interesting and having the right training partners are also very important. Some players are too hung up on only wanting to practice with players above their level, but I think practicing with people with low rating is also good if they know how to cooperate in drills. If you want to play sets then you can purposfully play to their stregth or you can simply compete with yourself in giving as little points as possible, setting a limit like only giving away 3 points or something like this. Table tennis is about consistency, and if you are able to consistently drill with someone that are not accurate, then you are doing a lot of important footwork and adjustments which is good training.
Dora is the epitome of a high-spirited young woman who sounds like she surely knows her life's craft. I had the pleasure of experiencing it for myself and watching her work her magic in person at a Ping Pong/Table Tennis Sports venue named PINGPOD in the heart of the Big Apple. If one way I were to best describe her as she is paying it forward, besides everything else, I might say she is adorable. Hire her and check her out. You will not be sorry because, amid everything else, for one thing, she will improve your outlook on life, which in today's world, the way things are going is not that easy.

Dora, what would be the topspin from backspin equivalent to this drill? it's harder to block with backspin to your partner eh? i think, for my level, is where the biggest inconsistency is...in attacking backspin after another shot/movement. i would love a video with say....5 top drills for intermediate players (or any player) to improve consistency across the board: attacking topspin, attacking backspin, defending, serve and serve return, attacking serve...for instance.
