The unfortunate thing about social media is people create these videos and its clear that they know nothing about train travel in America. It has turned what once was a spiritual experience, into revenge travel and how can I make a buck. You use the incorrect terms, You ask questions that the average train traveler would NEVER ask. You imply that Americans are nasty (wpe down everythiung) We railfans Know what we need to do. You asked for a rail guide ...really? I grew up riding the tarin in America. My parents, my brother and I had monagrammed luggage. We, as children knew the proper protocol by the time we were 5 years old. One thing you MUST do is tip the RED CAPS $10.00 per person in your party means $40.00 for a family of 4, and ROOM attendent generously $20.00 for an overnight trip. $3.00 dining car each meal. Globalization is turning America into a cess pool and train travel has already begun to suffer because of it.
I'm taking the auto train on May 4th from Florida to Virgina, and I'm going to be in the roomette car for the first time and wondered how I can covert the seat to a sleeper bed. This video was extremely helpful. Thank you so much for the helpful information and how to convert the seat to a sleeper bed!!
This is a good honest review of a Roomette. I'm taking my first Amtrak sojourn in February from St Paul. I take the Empire Builder to Chicago and from there I'm on the City of New Orleans, to New Orleans in a Roomette. I'm flying back to MSP with Delta Airlines. I'm 6'3" I'm traveling solo. Your husband looks to be the best type of traveling companion, he's very easy going?
Your video would have got more views if you would have narrated the key points yourself instead of just showing them as sub titles which appear only for a second. I had to pause the video sooo many times just to read them 😢
It depends on the day and time that you go and what you want to do. If you go on weekdays, probably 1 day is enough but I heard weekends are full so you might need 2 days depending on what you intend to do. Be there early and you will get to do more things
Connie, loved your video. I am planning a trip from NY Penn Sttion to West Palm Beach and I'm intrigued by this roommette. I am retired, no rush to get there, and I'm skittish about flying from NYC in the winter. Were you bored? Is it comfortable? How about water? Would you do it again? Gardis, in CT
@@connielovesnycnewyork4851 Thanks the reply. Were you bored at all? Did the time pass quickly? Also, are there car rentals available at these Amtak Statioins in FL? It's quite expensive, if I go RT in January, it's $1167 r/t/
actually, the ride could have been longer as the bike trail wraps around the coast. but from a distance, there is not much to see if we had gone farther
