Hi! Thanks for stopping by. I'm cellist, Shinyoung Kim and I will be your host of the Whole Note Podcast. In this podcast series, we will explore the different hurdles that one may come across when navigating the world of classical music in the 21st century. Along with the challenges, we will also indulge in the joys of the art form and discuss why music is more essential than ever before. With my many esteemed guests, we will cover a wide array of different topics that are pertinent to the modern musician. I hope that you find these discussions educational and helpful towards your own journey and pursuit in sharing your artistic voice.
I also think the same thing as a trumpet in my high school wind symphony I’ve played with plenty of people even the exchange students that don’t even know English still fit right in with our class and enjoy it just as much as the rest of us without even understanding what we say that’s just how powerful music can be it allows us to break the language barriers and just enjoy doing what we love
Just came across this, so glad. In Gateshead, in NE England, he was revered and much loved, always receiving waves of applause whenever he performed at the Sage international music centre. My heart broke when I heard he,d died.
There’s actually a really interesting history to the reason they started the marathon. I can’t remember all the details now, but the guy basically runs to deliver a message in war time and then dies.
I’d like to add to this that Zsolt was not only in the right place at the right time, but it was MEANT to be that way. Very few people have the empathetic intelligence of Zsolt Bognár. What a lucky ‘coincidence’(?) that he was positioned to pass on the beautiful legacy of Lars Vogt .
Radiance is the right word. Something was burning very brightly inside him and radiating out in that interview. It affected me very deeply, for what that’s worth.
Loved this insight into studying with the great Sergei Babayan - Zsolt is so articulate and intelligent in his observations it really makes the experience come alive. Really hope we will see SB feature on Living the Classical Life!
