I'm Amanda... a writer, artist and wanderer. I love to learn about new people, places and things in order to grow intellectually, creatively and spiritually. I also love to share my adventures - and what I learned from them - with others. Welcome!
Having a RU-vid channel is a creative release and a stress reliever from my busy life. More importantly, I hope to use this space to help others learn from my adventures traveling, writing, and pursuing creative projects like podcasting.
On this channel, I hope that you will enjoy watching content related to what inspires me: - Travels - Technology - Finding meaning in busy lives - Appreciation of the natural world.
Please don,t call us berber. Because Berbers entered Morocco via land and sea. As for the Amazigh, they are the original inhabitants of Morocco, and their name is Amazigh, not Berber
I've experienced different with plastic containers, especially big ones, all my tomato plants grown from seeds (real fruits), comes with lots of suckers, flowers and fruits. I only use fertilizer sticks for vegetables. Normally I start planting them in the end of April and they get 8-12 hrs. of sunlight each day. Works well.
I have the same regions highlighted on my Ancestry dna test too, but my ancestors left the area around the time of the civil war. I hope to do a trip around the area one day like this too. Nice video!
Im always so pleased when you upload a new video. I adore your style of videography and how you compile footage. I love your minimalist commentary and how the words you do say are thoughtful and inspiring. I wish you a healthy and enriching winter and a happy new year 🧡💚💜
Thank you for this very kind message. I have a few more things that I filmed in the past few months so I hope to edit and post a few more videos over the winter. Seeing messages like yours keeps me inspired! Same to you - have a wonderful winter and New Year!
Yes, us kentuckians are very proud of our history and heritage and beautiful state. I feel lucky to have grown up hearing the stories and learning a self sufficient way of life, especially from my mom. She came out of the mountains and knew about so much of the ways to do things to survive . my dads family wasn't mountain people. They were business people. My dads dad had owned a logging camp, sold it when coal became big and brought coal trucks that his six sons drove. Actually his family were mostly from Ohio. But, had came south for some unknown reason. Because, coal wasn't big til later on. But, alot of them ended up back in Ohio.after the coal played out. Some stayed due to already establishing businesses. Moms family was born and raised there. Shes is about 3/4 Cherokee and belongs to the Cherokee nation. I hope you enjoyed our beautiful state and realized we're more than just " hillbillies " theres alot of very modern cities in Kentucky. Its a mixture of the old fashioned and the very modern. One of the places that still is. You still find the country people and then you got colleges and big cities and our famous Ky.Wildcats basketball team!! Horse racing. Good luck on your journey to finding some of your true family and maybe getting to.meet them. They'll just love and welcome you in. Thats how we are.
I also found out I have ancestors from Kentucky on my mom's side. Beattyville was named after my ancestor Samuel Beatty. I'd love to take an ancestry trip like this. I was born and raised in California but I've always felt out of place here lol
Good video , thanks for sharing , I also take landscape videos in UK and sometimes abroad, so it's very helpful amazing I subscribed to the channel, so I'm looking forward to it. Thank you for the good video
My father was adopted and I found out his biological father was an Ison. I actually was planning to drive out to Elliott County to explore around the Sandy Hook and Isonville area and was trying to find videos about the area. I stumbled upon this video by accident but it looks like the exact same scenario! How neat
I just saw this comment now, I hope you get a chance to visit and best wishes researching your family. If you look through this comment section, quite a few of us are related to the Isons! They were my first confirmed relatives after I took a DNA test.
.? Question? Since I have dabbled in RU-vid and have uploaded a few videos which do you suggest a video cast or pod cast, as fas as ease in getting it out there! All this other messing around with RSS and hosting and storage and self promotion seems a little daunting!
So I listened you touched on things like no others in this hobby / media are pushing, thank you for be this way! Ok so I’ve got an idea, plus an idea for a graphic design and let’s say that I’ve found a way to put it in a file, then let’s say that I’ve recorded and edited this masterpiece, how do I get it from my PC “because at this time in life I can’t afford an apple laptop”, onto stitcher or apple podcast or Audacy and all other platforms? Right now that’s my main concern plus my stage fright that I won’t go into?!
Having lived all around the world and retired in Florida I longed to return to my roots…..Kentucky. I finally gave into my heart and came home to My Old Kentucky Home. My family is also from eastern KY, Pike County a little blip on the map called Elkhorn City. I loved your presentation, perhaps more to come later.
Congratulations on moving back home! I have lots of extended family from Pike Co. I've learned a lot more about my biological family since this video was made, and yes, when I go back to visit someday I will make more videos. It may be a few more years but it will happen! Thanks for watching!
Beautiful gardening space! I'm so inspired at what you've grown from seeds. I've ordered some of the same seeds this week; so your video gives me hope. Question, I've also bought some galvanized containers, did you drill holes in the bottom of yours? jc
Thanks, that's so nice of you! I hope the seeds work out for you! Yes, I always drill a hole in the bottom or make sure there is some way for closed containers like galvanized containers to drain. I also tend to put something under them just to lift them off the ground if they're on a balcony, otherwise water can get trapped and damage decking underneath.
Thanks for watching! We have learned a lot about his biological family since I did this video and he has met his closest relatives since then. It's been great for him, and for all of us. I haven't been able to get back to KY yet but I would like to do an update video sometime to share more.
Awesome work Amanda. I enjoyed watching your vid and subscribed to your channel because I adore gardening . Keep up the green work and share, Cheers from CA
