I don't believe in soaking a catching glove or putting it in the oven. Here's a pro tip. Throw it in a garment bag and then throw some towels in the dryer and throw it in there on the high setting. It'll get nice and warm but not too hot. Then put a puck in it and tie it shut overnight. That'll be the start to your break-in. But just keep heating it up in the dryer and working it and it'll be butter in no time without any damage.
You said that you screwed the pucks in. What type of screws did you use? Did you screw them all the way through the puck and the melamine board? Did you use some type of a nut/bold combination? If you just used a screw, did the pucks loosen up after a bit of time as the particle board is not that durable over time; I would imaging the screw would loosen up after a while.
I'm 30 years old, and after 10 years of not playing the position, I'm entering a rec/beer league next spring as a goalie. These drills have helped rebuild my confidence a lot.
Just regular tennis shoes, I pulled the pad covers over em tho so they slide better... takes a little bit of coverage from up on the top of the pads, but slides way better overall.
Just stumbled spin this video, look amazing. Do you have a image or another video with a overhead view to kind of get a better look at where the picks are located?
If you are just shooting pucks then I would say that it doesn’t matter... if you are taking shots from someone else and are wearing skates, I would look into getting some high quality synthetic ice. But if you are taking shots and just wearing boots with something to protect the feet and ankles I’m guessing it doesn’t matter to much. I would probably get some leg pad covers although.
Ice Bear melamine... I believe that’s how it’s spelled lol. It’s basically plywood with a hard surface that slips well when sprayed with car leather cleaner
Hey Darby, Thanks for the review. What type of pads were using before moving to the Warriors and how do they compare? Also can you address the durability factor down the road, after you put some mileage on them.Thanks JP
Hi I set it up for my son. Only slight issue I have is one side of the middle seam has a bit of a lip or edge. Can you let me know how to make it flush so he doesn't hit it while sliding? Thanks!
LifesMemoriesPhoto Yeah we had the exact same problem so what we did was we drilled two boards on both sides near the edges to hold the slipper boards together and then we actually took clear shipping tape and ran it over the seam. We then sprayed armor all on it to get it slippery. It isn’t perfect but it worked for us! Hope this helped, lmk if you’re confused about something.
Honestly I would say that the area around the wrist and palm was a little bit tight, but a size larger would fix that. Other wise no real complaints....
