I love Seattle! I miss it. My wife and I have done some silent book clubs through our library and they are so fun. Last time we did a book swap after we read so we got to share some great books with each other!
Love your excitement over your new books…I’m exactly the same! I have wanted to read Leeva At Last for a long time so thanks for reminding me of it. Can’t wait for part two!
Holy haul! That was amazing! I love the chair and you bought so many books. Thank you so much for the Asher Lev sequel. I read the first one, but I haven’t found the second one yet and everyone has told me I need to read it. That is so kind of you. I think we now need a video of you reading in the chair. Happy reading, Gina! It was so great this week to see these videos from you. 💛
I have Kathleen Norris on my Kindle but never read any of her work. She sounds delightful, though! I’m interested to hear what you think of her books! ❤
Oh, Gina! What a perfect reading chair! I have read 3 of the Beatrix Potter Tales and love them. ALWAYS have to put on a hold list because our library has very few and not in order, which I prefer to read. I have Rose Cottage and I can't remember which of those 2 Barbara Pym bks. Have 4/5 of hers. I ordered 2 Marcia Willet bks. and Jen( Jen Reads) said she did not like those particular 2. When I find them, 😋😂I'll let you know. Want to read the Agatha Christie's you mentioned. I've heard of Tommy and Tuppance; but don't know what they are. Are they an older series of hers? I REALLY WANT TO GET the No Fear Shakespeare bks. I'd like to find them used to save money, as well as lots of other bks. Very few used bookstores here or the area that I know of. There are some in Detroit, but don't have a friend who would go w/ me. They're all chicken. Detroit has changed so much! LOTS of cool, fun places to go, but can't get anyone to go w/ me. No fun by oneself and I am usually by myself. My one friend who is usually up for ANYTHING (and most fun), lives in Georgia. We don't see each other very often. There is a famous bookstore in Detroit called Kings; think it is all used. Many floors!!😁 This was just great Gina, thanks for sharing all🤗
Oh my goodness, one of my subscribers mentioned Kathleen Norris to me just a few days ago and I found a couple of her books in great condition at a thrift store! Hope we both love her. I'm always looking for a new "vintage" author to read.Yay to finding those No Fear books! Such a great price! I love Nemesis, too- GREAT find!! 😍I never see the hardcover Christies, either, so you stopped by at just the right moment.
Hurry up and read Louise Penny's "A World of Curiosities." That is the last book in the series ... and the NEXT episode is being released on October 29th. So you have a month and a half to catch up and continue seamlessly into "Grey Wolf."
Hi Gina, Wonderful book haul part 2. I have some Marsha Willett books on my TBR. I found them at my local used bookstore, which she is a new author for me. I am adding Rose Cottage by Mary Stewart to my TBR. Love the green chair. 😊
Hi Gina, The Courtyard is going on my TBR as a starting point for Marsha Willet. Now that my brain has opened to some cozy mysteries I'm curious about the Betrx Potter series too.
ThAnk you! 🌸 I had to pause to order the no fear Shakespeare for my son who will take an exam about the Midsummer Night‘s Dream in his English as a foreign language class, soon. 👍🏻😃
Hi Gina! What a lovely summer and an amazing haul. Ha, I also have all the glasses! That Jamie Oliver cookbook looks great. Lovely to see you and your sweet kitties!
@@spreadbookjoy it really has been Jack. Did Sandy tell you about camping? It was a hoot and we got rained on, but I got to go kayaking for the first time which was incredible.
@@davidnovakreadspoetry it was such a fun week! Seattle is really a cool city. I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with it (primarily due to the gray weather). But the bookish scene is fantastic.
YEAH!!! WOO-HOO!!! What a fabulous summer you had! Happy for you! What a fun time w/ your friend in Seattle at all the bookshops.😁 I don't remember the name, but Seattle is supposed to have the largest bookstore in the U.S.! Did you go there? I recently read a fantastic book w/ an old grouchy lady as the main character, YOU will love it. Nosy Neighbors by Freya Sampson. Might be my favorite bk. of the year! You've GOT to read it. Why can't you go over 10 min?? That's nothing and we ALL enjoy you so much!🤗 My entire summer has consisted of P.T. on the 2nd Shldr. Replacement and PAIN, very bad pain. Hurts my shldr. to even turn pages!! Very discouraged. See the surgeon tomorrow. Can't wait for Part.2!!😁😋😍😘
@@eileennielsen5165 Hiyee! You might be thinking of Powells books, which is in Portland about 3 hours away. We don’t have a huge store like that. But our great used bookstores make up for it! I just put a hold on Nosy Neighbors - thanks for the recommendation. I know, I know, I like to keep my videos under 15 minutes - it’s just my preference. I have a lot more used books and it would have been too long for me. Eileen thanks so much for your support and your wonderful comments. I am so glad you are here. ❤️
Gina, you look so well, rested and lovely! Happy birthday ❤. I have such a thing for illustrated books, middle grade and classics, just so great looking at them. Can't wait for part 2 😊.
Was just thinking abut you Gina. I read two of Nina Le Cours YA books when I first joined Booktube. They weren't for me. I'll be interested to see what you think of her MG.
@@GinaStanyerBooks I found a way around being a trailer truck driver since forever. I combined my love of cassette tapes with audio books. So I get to use my vintage walkmans have the ritual of using cassette listen to book and its all vintage! and looks good on the shelf at home. I ventured some into VHS as well
I love your collection so much, Gina! 😊🦋💙📚 So happy that you love the magazine I bought for you! What fun it was to find those golden books together! 🤩 Maybe we’ll find more this visit! See you for morning coffee! 😅☕️💞 Awesome video!!
Hi Gina…I just recently found you…you were raving about Pilcher and Miss Read, so you got me…I immediately ordered 2 Thrush Green and September. I dug into September first. Oh my goodness, what a delight. I have not been much of a reader…but got stuck on psychological thrillers…you know…the girl on the train in the window of the couple upstairs😊 But you delivered me! Now on to Miss Read. Thank you for my introduction to cozy books and to booktube.
So happy to have discovered your channel. I've just done this tag myself, lots of fun, this BookTube is a wonderful lark. I struggle with the idea of cancel culture also. It's a pickle, isn't it? I wonder if women suffer more hate comments than men? Is it a gendered nastiness, I wonder? I really like your open, friendly tone of voice, intelligent and engaging. I really look forward to following your bookish adventures.
Hi Gina, I love Winter Solstice and Elfrida too, although I would not call her elderly because I suppose I am elderly but I do not consider myself that way either. Ha. Anyway my all time favorite has to be DE Stevenson and Miss Buncle. I love house stories and Miss Buncle Married told a real dood one. AIso love Elizabeth Goudge and recently loved The White Witch a great historical novel. Now I want to reread some Norah Lofts. Her historical house books were great! 😊❤
I loved Sense and Sensibilty--can't believe it's been nearly 30 years since the film was released. Wow. I just started Vintage 1954, on the recommendation of Jen's Reading Life. Enjoying it!
