I had heard that Robert had problems with Red Kelly in Pittsburgh. Punch Imlach was on good terms with sportswriters/media people in other cities - he was always good for a quote - and I'm convinced they kept Punch informed on which players were on the outs with their coaches. Imlach got a 23 year old Rene Robert for a 35 year-old Eddie Shack. What a steal.
