I have the BT01 I started a few months ago that I need to get done, basically the bigger brother to the MB01 from what I have seen. I have never had an M chassis so I have been looking at this also for the collection. as for diffs pretty sure anything tt02 works for the MB and BT chassis. is that an original Clod buster I see on the floor?
If you want to run it in rear wheel drive, you’ll need to pickup a set of 53254 and inserts. These are the standard rear tire on m06 the tires included in the mb-01 for front and rear is whats used on the front of the m06, the kit mb-01 tires work ok in front wheel drive, but a waste of time as a rear drive build. Although with the drift steering setup stock tires might be ok. Nice to see some West Aussie tamiya content!
The flickering is only sometimes. Nice kit, I usually get my bearings from Plaig. I have a Mini on an M03 chassis, I also have the Lotus Europa on the M06. Need to finish the body on that one. I have to say, I'm not really a fan of the M06, is just seems overly complicated to me. I have no experience with the MB-01. Enjoying your work mate.
Dynastorm-- But when I was a young kid browsing through a hobby store, I would have said that the Bigwig was badass! Loved the looks of the Bigwig and the Boomerang 😍😍 And then when the Avante was released, it was love at first sight-- Still one of the slickest looking cars to have ever been released 💯%
The fav was my basher back around 84 with my mates frog. The gearbox was so worn it was full of washers and went through multiple hex drives. Great to get hold of one
Hot tip: The Super Astute rear suspension arm mounts can be replaced with the full length diameter plastic Madcap ones, which are a leftover piece on the upright/hub sprue when you build a Blitzer/Beetle/Thunder. C-Parts sprue; 1005431, C - 1 Yes, the 'Cheaper Kit' parts are stronger, lol. I never felt any interest for the Tamiya Astute or Super Astute, then I built one..... I now have two and with this potential release.........more! I believe there is a thread on Tamiya Club(?) that lists a bunch of worthwhile strengthening upgrades for using a Super Astute as a regular runner that fixes nearly every potential headache. Such a great buggy.
I loved the video you done traveling around Asia. I have found them helpful and been to many of them. Most recently was Tam Tam and Super Rajikon in Tokyo, before that was Tamiya in Asok Bangkok cheers 🍻

The Hornet evo and super astute are 2 that i will deffo be getting, and the super astute will be going racing. I can allready the breaks from crashes. But will be good to see how durable it is.
Tamiya doesnt listen to what the customers want or they are completely out of touch. They could re re the 959 and everyone would buy it. I mean everyone. We have been screaming for it for years. I dont get it.
Tamiya is not so foolish and they know what they are doing. There are only a limited number of really iconic kits left that haven't been re-released. To re-release a product such as the 959 in original design format would not be straightforward. The original chassis was not without its flaws after all. I am sure there are also lots of licensing issues to resolve, especially since the rally livery has quite a few sponsors. As for saying that everyone would buy it...to replicate this kit with an original chassis rather than destroying the image of the iconic vintage version with a modern-day chassis would be extremely expensive. The market for people spending that sort of money just for nostalgia purposes is limited to dedicated enthusiasts. Sometimes, products are best left untouched, to cement their place in RC history. If you are a serious collector, then there are still vintage originals to be found.
Yes that 959 looks great I wanted one when it first came out the first time. I couldn’t afford it as a teen but loved the look. I would like to see the varieties of the TL- 01 come out of oblivion, the on road and off road varieties. It’s a great beginner car and intermediate runner. I agree 100%. Who needs another Hornet when there is no rerelese of the 959 yet. PS: YES, we want the blisterpack back!!! ;-) Like christmas 1985. But this ist Tamiya: Genial and weird at the same time...

Hornet Evo < Super Astute I know which one I want and will be buying. I might be the minority on this, but I don't want a fragile, over-complicated, outdated kit (cough, 959). Even though the Porsche 959 is my favorite car of all time 🤷♂️ Much rather see re-releases of the Dyna Storm, Dyna Blaster, King Cab, Monster racer, TXT-1 (not the Agrios), and maybe even a King Blackfoot
