...I've been working on a project just like this for a while now, and here you are doing a lot of the same stuff. Argh! Ah well, I already started, so now I get to pretend ur my rival in some weird anime shit.
ACVI garage theme, based. It's obvious really, but thanks to you I just realized AC garage music is most fitting to be played as ambience during gundam customization works. My monke brain gets activated by anything "full armor", I'm a full armor lover. My wearable accessories are missile pods, and I sleep with multiple bazooka pillows. I also adore kampfer. So I couldn't help but check out. Really digging the "grounded" look and dem nets, if you aren't sure about the plain brown (i like brown tho), you could add some sandy ochre on the edges as both a weathering effect and a highlight to offset the dark brown. The whole setup of twin weapons x twin shoulder add-ons is really armored core-y, so I guess a little dirt wouldn't hurt.
HOWEVER. This one is not worthy of being called a FULL ARMOR Kampfer, I'll be frank. I believe there are two things essential to the fullarmor-y robots: the "armor" part itself, and also the concept of giving a mech the firepower capabilites of a battleship. And an IRL requirement is for the model to have sever balance issues from all the silly amount of weaponry it has. If it's capable of standing straight and not rest on some gun barrel or an actual action base, then it's not FULL armor enough. Sorry, this is the sad truth. A true insane engineer would: Put additional armor packs with missiles at least on thighs and chest. The chest is already protruding, but not CC-2000 ORBITER levels of protruding. Still enough space for add-ons. Thighs, on the other hand, are quite free due to absence of skirt armor, just begging to have some missiles on it. To not make it overly busy, the grenades from the legs are probably better off moved to the shield, geara-doga style. Give it at least one BIG GUN. HUGE CANNON, even. How can one rival a battleship without at least having a bazooka. Remember, even Char on his light, slick zaku only took 5 ships on his own because he had a BAZOOKA of his own. A shield could be moved to the right shoulder and get replaced by the necessary cannon, or better yet - put the cannon on the backpack and make it swivel to the front from under the arm (kinda like buster gundam twin cannons). The head - the head is an issue too. Either need to place some kind of armored collar around it, or reinforce the offence. Put some small cannon on the side, maybe 2 missile flares, or maybe even replace the horn with yet another cannon. And finally - give it metal crocs. I don't think it needs an explanation. Kampfer's feet are already chunky, and it wouldn't hurt to accent that even further with some fullarmor crocs. Maybe even put palebunkers in them, like they do with scopedogs in Votoms.
I know it'd take a lot of additional parts tho, which is expensive. I wouldn't dare to buy another FA ver. ka just to take him apart for grafting. If you're not in a hurry I'd suggest looking for used parts. Idk how good it is on ebay, but browsing japanese marketplaces through proxy services yields with results of replacement parts for every popular kit of last 20 years. Cheap too, since it's all either sold in bulk as a junk, or assembled already therefore not as sought after. (yeah I know you never asked for advice, I'm toxic tho sorry)
Damn, typing all that bs really made me want a FA kampfer of my own, I guess I'll start hunting for kitbash materials to overload this old kampfer enough it's waist at least bends, preferably even snaps from all the weight to the point I need to reinforce it with a metal rod
Came out amazing! Almost has a feel of like a "ground type" variant of the suit or something. And I was super impressed with how clean it came out. I always have trouble with that on my own kits, probably why I like weathering so much. lol
Like the waterslide decals, I assume you're referring to? Well after I was done painting I used Mr. Hobby Semi-Gloss spray on the whole kit, which makes applying it easier than doing it on bare plastic IMO. After the semi-gloss coat, apply them as normal, cut out the decal, in water for 10 - 15 seconds, out of water for 15+ seconds, and apply with a Q-tip and hobby knife. Then I sealed it all in with Mr. Hobby Matte topcoat.
It not having a chainsord Is literally my only issue with this build, In the future if you ever purchase the perfect strike gundam And you don't ever plan on using the sword for it Just remove the beam blade and make Teeth for chain Saw And glue it in You have a giant Chain sword, And you could even paint the teeth like a Glowing orange with a little bit of red To make it seem like it's actually a heat chain blade to cut thru enemy mobile suits and would use less power than a beam saber to allow more usage of the beam rifle and longer combat time deployment
I love the name I love the design I love the concept. And while it may not win the world gundam Competition for models It is definitely something that I would be proud to have on my own shelf. And when it comes to air brushing it's an expensive at first introduction Because you gotta buy the air brush you gotta buy the compressor But after a while it eventually pays for itself if you do a lot of work with it But you can get by with just using spray paints and hand paints And still make really good looking models. I mean I use a crilic paint that I get from Dollar Tree And cheap ones from Hobby Lobby Like the brand anitas, The only expensive paints I personally get are the matte or semi gloss clear coats And the Gray primers
I once tried something like before in the past, and I can safely say you did WAY better than what I did. It look super cool! Awesome Job! I also like the intro you did (made me laugh a little). Keep up the great work.
For the pooling in the shield unfortunately it happens when your spray painting One solution if you dont want to go with weathering is to strip it with 99% isopropyl alcohol Recently stripped a WFM kit that i kinda ruined with clear spray and it worked pretty well There are a couple videos that show how its done
Noice kitbash I like the military tan and red shoulder pops. Makes me think of a mech that was kitted out with what they had to act as direct fire support.
As someone who ALSO only really does customs with Mono Eyes (and IBO cuz they just kitbash so nice) really dig the custom overall, cant wait to see more. my last full custom was Gerbera Tetra X Farsia
