i’m not sure if you’d see this but i was wondering where exactly i should put my weights i’ve made a couple mock ups on paper for different types of lures i just can’t figure out where my weight should go towards more in the front of the lure or kinda in the middle of the lure
this came out very nice! I started making lures last summer and I've been making similar poppers but with a through wire. I'm a big saltwater angler so the hardware really needs to hold up! keep videos like this coming! My only concern with this design would be how it sits in the water. With my poppers i tend to put weight farther back than forward so it has a 30ish degree tilt on the water surface. it helps with the popping action!
Again amazing wobbler for saltwater, really tight action. When you twitch the rod, do it vertically towards your legs, so it will slash more randomly. Side twitch will always move lure to same side, if lure would change side it would mean its not ballanced and with really fast retrieve the lure would swim out on its side
Is there any truth to the idea that fish hold on to the bait longer when they smell/taste the salt (mimicking the taste of blood)? That’s the primary reason I’ve been putting it in vs. sinking power.
@@TheMediocreFisherman No idea, I cant say that i've honestly seen much of a difference with salt impregnated baits vs unsalted. I know some guys SWEAR by it. I cater to what my guys want when they order. I dont use it personally, I just use whats on the menu in regards to baitfish, color, and conditions.
You can stick about 4 of those single cavity molds together in one clamp to save space on your desk. Get ready to go down one rabbit hole after another, after another, after another. Im 4k into this after a year and change. If I can be of any help, hit me up.
Here's hoping :) The bad news is that I'm just finalizing on a divorce, so my time has been screwy. But the good news is I'm just finalizing on a divorce, so I'm about to have a lot more free time...
Very cool! That wood grain is amazing! For Your next one you could make a white belly with an orange lip and leave the wood grain. This one is awesome as well.
Nice work. Is that pine? Over 20 years building plugs and I have yet to make a swim or glide bait. Looks like you use some of the same techniques as Solar baits.

It does… I noticed that if I handle the lure with my bare hands before the clear coat, which I do way too often, the epoxy is repelled from that area. Something about the oils from my fingers transferred to the surface.
You could try putting a lip on those duds they may swim. There are lots of epoxies you could use that are much better. Slow cure stuff is better. Envirotex, Flexcoat, Truecoat to name a few. Nice looking anyway.
I seriously just eye ball it every time. There isn’t much variability to it, just don’t put in too much paint thinner or it’ll turn into a sticky mess. I guess if I were to recommend measurements, I’d start with 2 parts silicone, 1 part cornstarch, a few tablespoons of glycerin and paint thinner, and a drop or two of paint. The paint is only there to let you know you’ve stirred throughly.
ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-aDCPPqbJ9TI.html More of a time lapse of me building it than a “tutorial”, but I could do another explaining it in more detail if that sounds good.
Hey mate nice work, what app do you use to draw your lures onto if you don't mind me asking, I'm looking for an app where I can design my lures and then print them off with accurate lines etc.
I use Autodesk Sketchbook on the iPad. Really good for drawing, but not great for sizing to the page. It always prints out way smaller than I want it and I have to fiddle around a lot scaling and reprinting.
Yeah, me too :). We just bought a new house, so most of my time is being spent painting, cleaning, yard work, etc. and very little fishing or making new baits I’m afraid :(
@@TheMediocreFisherman hey that's a huge positive. Maybe do a tutorial on a couple things plenty of young couples are just getting in their new place or will be it's coming to the end of the school year and kids are graduating. It could get a good jump in views for you.
