Hahaha I understand! But Iceland is pretty expensive in general. That includes flights, renting a car, a few tours, AND I bought high quality hiking boots. Iceland is so so worth it!!
Thanks for the great review! From Alaska! Amazing! I'm not with Trusted Housesitters, though I'm not ruling them out in the future. I'm with other housesitting websites and I've been busy. I'm booked until early January so looking for 2025 housesits. I've heard complaints about Trusted Housesitters from both sitters and homeowners. Right now I'm house and dog sitting in the UK for a couple who were on Trusted Housesitters for many years but abandoned ship, and so of course I wanted to know why because I might sign up as a housesitter there one day. They have no complaints about the sitters, but they had complaints about the changes to Trusted Housesitters for the homeowners and that's why they left and put their ad up with one of the sites I'm on.
Thank you so much! I’m not sure why other people had issues with it, the hosts I sat for didn’t seem to have any problem with it. I also personally had a great experience. What other sites are you on for housesitting?
@@sarahjeanne I'm with Housesitters UK and their sister site Housesitters Canada. Both cost about $50/year (Canadian dollars) plus members can get discounts for referrals. And new members can get $10 off if they use a referral code. I don't believe the homeowners are capped after a certain amount of applicants. Last year the people I house sat for in London had over 70 applicants - but they loved my profile the best. I'll be housesitting again for them at the end of July for 3 weeks. I get a lot of homeowners contacting me first on both sites. The 4 month sit I have coming up in Toronto starting Sept 1, the homeowners never placed an ad. They saw my profile and I was the only person they contacted. These are 2 big cities that would be in high demand for housesitters. Location, location. But I think Alaska is pretty cool too! Oh, I'm also with Housecarers. I haven't applied for a sit yet. I've had a few owners contact me, but never for dates when I'm available.
Hi Sarah Your videos aren't getting enough exposure. I have also watched some of your video and loved it. I think videos like those should get more views. I've unique strategy for you Sarah. I'm eagerly awaiting for your reply.

2 similarities. I also have a pet named Sheldon but he is a cat. He is named after the character in Big Bang Theory and 2 I also don’t wear makeup unless I am in a wedding. I was a bridesmaid last summer and I did not look like myself. I feel you. Congrats to your brother and his new wife.
Oh that’s so sweet!! I know another cat who’s named after sheldon from big bang 🫶🏼 and hahaha props to people who feel like themselves while wearing makeup, it could simply not be me
If you want to increase your video views and subscriber then you need to work on several issues in your channel that cause your channel videos to not get views and subscribers.
Hank is cute ❤ I have been a standard member for three years. I have had wonderful experiences. I just don't like the maximum of 5 applicants per listing that they have now...
Hank was so much fun to hang out with!! And yes I understand how the limited applications may be frustrating, but I think it’s just so that the pet owners don’t get too overwhelmed!!
Do you have to activate the pass before the conductor gets to you to ask for your ticket or if he sees you activate it then will you get in trouble? You remind me of Ann Hathaway’s little sister!❤️
No you can activate it once you see the conductor coming!! They’re definitely less strict in northern Europe and way more strict in southern Europe so if you’re going to get the most out of your pass (👀) do it in the northern countries!!
The Eurail seemed expensive just 10 p cent reduction for over 60.. my issue is out of season wherever have been is yes less crowded but transport reduced day sightseeing trips reduced or not running weather often really dismal so boats often cancelled or hurricane season etc. It is a struggle without a car or moped tbh. Any suggestions please! Anything welcome. Do you shower at ststions if overnight travel please just wondering ❤
If you individually buy train tickets it adds up really fast! Buying a eurail ticket is definitely much cheaper in the long run especially when trains are your main mode of transportation. You can also use your eurail ticket on certain buses and trams which is super helpful!! We tried to travel only overnight or early in the morning or late at night so we didn’t take away from adventuring during the day. And we were able to get everywhere we wanted to either on a train or with a couple Ubers! Also we mostly just didn’t shower those nights we were on overnight trains - not a big deal to skip a night since we were never overly sweaty!
I did the culture week - and the coordinators were super accommodating when we wanted to go explore other tourist sites and activities! It was definitely worth it
We stayed with friends a couple nights, but maybe it’s partly because we went late spring/early summer so it wasn’t quite prime travel season. But we only reserved hostel stays AT MOST a few days in advance so the prices may have been reduced because of that
My hardest thing is transport to sights as always seems there arent except in big cities so inevitwbly end up booking a trip which is never as good as going yourself and an unrushed time. Any ideas please. I dont use a dtiving licence abroad..
The only time I’ve driven abroad is in Iceland or other really remote places! Learning to navigate public transportation is super important especially in Europe when it’s really accessible. Uber is also readily available in Europe so if you are going somewhere that even trains don’t go to, Uber is usually available. Or find someone at your hostel who wants to go with to split the price!!
If I want my partner to come stay, do I just let them know my partner is traveling with me? Or does my partner also need to create a profile and get a background check through trusted housesitter
That’s fair however this wasn’t a 100% positive video! I would say these things even if I didn’t have a code because want people to have an honest view of what EF trips are like and what to expect.
did you have to pay extra to take the backpack as hand luggage or did it meet the requirements so that it was included in the ticket price? I am going on the budget airlines so just want to make sure I take the right kind of bag:)
On regular airlines any 40L backpack will count as carry on luggage! I’ve never had to pay extra for it, but I would always double check any budget airline requirements since they’re all different and can be pretty strict!
@Thatclimbingirl yes you should always check what the airline’s requirements are!! If you’re backpacking europe though I would recommend taking trains 99% of the time because it’s so much cheaper and easier!! I only flew to Iceland and Greece and my backpack was fine on both of those!
It was so much fun!! It’s definitely worth it. Here’s part 1 of my Belize vlog: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0iawEhi8iNU.htmlsi=SErEotP6BQHqVYHF
My birks are always comfy!! I’ve walked many miles in them - you just have to make sure you spend a couple weeks wearing them in before a trip so they can mold to your feet
Great video! It helps a lot, thanks =D Tip: As you like to travel a lot, come to Brazil. It’s a huge country, but for you from the US, it’s cheaper, and there are tons of beautiful places to visit.
We definitely stayed in hostels the whole time or whatever was the cheapest option in the city center. Usually the hostels had breakfast included for us, we bought sandwich materials from the grocery store for lunch to eat on the go, and we’d eat dinner out!
Also here’s my how to backpack europe video for more details on everything we did! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cx2byMGdJoY.htmlsi=Mb8pWI-zmiFJ-RBp
Would really appreciate your self or any experienced pet/house sitter given their opinion on the following :- I am a 71 years old, British, very fit, a great deal of travelling, working and living around the world and when Airbnb started up, spent three summers staying with owners having a great time seeing Europe. I would be a 'newbie' but was a volunteer at a Wildlife Centre caring and doing presentations for the animals they had, plus over the last ten years have for friends walked, kept an eye on and even have lived with me several dogs and cats. Ex RAF, Civil Engineering, DH Teacher and IT Trainer meeting a wide range of people in my time. A gardener, house renovator and good at dealing with problems or a crisis. Recently learnt nearby for maybe two years major construction works which will negate me sitting reading, writing and painting in my very quiet garden, thus the idea of pet/house sitting now appeals me. Trusted House Sitters have told me, I would be in great demand but research in reading many 'sitters reviews' are ALL females or couples, as yet have NOT come across and oldie and a male like me. Thus even though very much like the idea of house sitting, i.e. lounging about, painting in the garden and taking dogs for a walk and cuddling cats, I now suspect I have been 'naive' in believing I would be a popular choice by owners and even though the company 'say' they have a money-back policy if after 14 days a new sitter gets no bookings - I am not convinced I would get my money back plus the time and effort in applying to sit which would be places that were not popular, i.e. non-tourist type places as in most cases, been there and done it. Thanking anyone, who spends time reading my comment and any opinions or experiences would be most gratefully received.
I know you said you dont get paid but im wondering if people still offer payment or if there's an app that is more geared towards being payed. Im trying to sit within my home town to make extra money on the side and although i have family friends that offer, its not as often as i would like..my goal isnt to replace my house with others as "free" accommodation. My goal is to just make extra on the side. Any suggestions?
I’m sure there is some app or maybe even just a Facebook group you can join who are willing to pay! Or even just put a message out on social media or email anyone you know and say you’re willing to housesit - most people will assume you want to be paid!
