This channel will be skewed towards the Commercial, State Local, and HiEd users and include client device walkthroughs, tips, tricks, and unboxings, basically a version of what you might see if I was sitting across a conference table from you. Yes, #Iworkfordell but I want to emphasize this channel is separate from any official Dell site. Hope you enjoy and maybe learn a thing or two!
I have spent over 25 years in the Client Technology/End User Compute world, working for companies such great companies as, IBM, Lenovo, MCPc (regional technology partner), TEKsystems and now Dell Technologies. I am enthusiastic in finding ways technology can improve how we live and work.
If Technology is my Yin then Fly Fishing is my Yang.
@Razear I just tested this on the S2724DS with my Alienware M18 using the HDMI cable provided in the box. I was able to get 100Hz by going into the advanced display settings and selecting the 100Hz refresh rate. Hope this helps.
I wish the color of the stand was silver and not white. It would be the perfect allround monitor for me (100 Hz, good speakers). All other Dell models in similar price range have the silver stand but no speakers and not 100 Hz.
This is the most informative video. Thanks. QUESTION to Mike O'Hanian. I have a similar setup with one tweak. I have two XPS 13 (Personal and Work Laptops) and two QE monitors. I want to use both laptops in a dual monitor setup with KVM. That is, when I am at work, I want a dual monitor daisy-chained with a keyboard and mouse. When I toggle to personal, I want the same setup: two monitors, KB, and Mouse. Can I do that?
@ramr9348 You can do this. Only issue you will have is one of the XPS13's will need to use it's own power supply and you will need to run a video cable & USB cable to the display.
If the laptop does not have Thunderbolt, just regular USB-C, (HP Zbook Firefly )does the hub stil work with this monitor ? At work I have usb-c station. I wonder whether the monitor is suitable for the home office work. I prefer 120 Hz to 60 Hz and 1440p to 4K at 27 inch.
I see the monitor has one Ethernet port on the back. How does that work when you have both PC's connected to the monitor? I'm guessing the USB-C cable will use the built-in RJ45 connection for the laptop network and your Workstation will have a separate network connection via Wi-Fi or Ethernet cable?
@@MichaelOHanian Excellent ... I heard the rumors before I heard the news...I'm glad my favorite Dellite :) (except for Susan which I can get away with saying is delightful ) remains on the field.
I found info about thunderbolt4 that it's support 2 monitor 4k at 60hz but i need one witch is this model with 2k and 120 i'll get 120hz and charge my mac at same time???
hI! I want to buy this monitor for my Macbook pro 2018 but can only afford the non hub monitor (U2724D). Would you recommend or will I be facing some issues? I'm planning on using a usb c to display port 1.4 converter
@@abhinav1860 only thing of note is that you will not be able to daisy chain a second display natively. You would have to get a docking station that supports NVlink.
@@MichaelOHanian noted! Thanks a ton. Also I have a question that has been bugging me about the monitor. I mean this ips panel has better contrast ratio than some of the benq designer monitors in this range. Yet they are hdr10, vesa display HDR400 rated. I mean why not this monitor?!
The one thing I love about my laptop keyboard is that the keys light up, I just bought the Dell keyboard but I don't think it has that function, but still a very solid keyboard.
Hi, again. I'm using the Dell Inspiron 3030S Small Desktop with this monitor. I don't see any way to get to "effects and avatars" so I can change the background on Teams. Also don't see a way to make a test call. What am I doing wrong? Thanks!
I own an m18r2. My biggest complaint is cooling. I've got the largest IETS platform cooling unit I've used since the m18 arrived. I put that bad boy on max fan speed (2800rpm) and still have crazy temps and variation in temps. I'll have cores 100* and 65*. Tbh for a 4k laptop I was pretty let down at the cooling issues. Besides that though, pretty beefy "laptop". I14900 Rtx4090 64gb ram 5 tb storage (1tb from Dell, 4tb WD black).
Very infirmative, didn't know of working together on home and office laptop. This model is not available now, does this newer model S3422DWG have the same feature?
Good afternoon. I have a dell 7-in-1 usb-c multiport adapter - da310 connected to my notebook and trying to use the HDMI output to connect a Samsung monitor. It does not transmit the video.
@@MichaelOHanian 12" tablet is a better fit for me, 13" notebook is a little big and more money too; i would prefer a faster processor; this one will stay with me for a few yrs <3
Hi Mike. I got this monitor last week to use with my older U2720Q. I feel this one has much warmer colours. So white pages feel paler compared to my U2720Q. Is it how it’s supposed be?
@imranDawood If you go in the the menu of the U2723QE you can adjust the color temperature. I use this same display for work. I have mine set on "Game" color temperature.
@@MichaelOHanian Thanks for the response I’ve checked that and Game profile makes no difference to temperature or brightness. My question was more about the display on Standard profile. If these monitors are designed to be bit paler out of the box?
Has anyone had issues with it suddenly not working? It worked just fine for me for about a month and then one day I hear this weird sound coming from it (Almost a static sound). Then suddenly, no sound was coming out.
@50speedx Sorry to hear you are having issues. I own and use three of these (1 for work, 1 on my Alienware battle station, and 1 on my personal notebook), and I have not had any issues. There is a firmware upgrade for the SP3022 but I don't think it will fix your issue. The SP3022 has a 3 year warranty, give a call to Dell Support and they will take care of you.
I don't know about the '24 model, but with the U2722DE I have hooked up to a desktop and a laptop, I can't use the desktop if the laptop is still plugged in and turned off. Hope they address problems like this...
Good review. We have these at work. Problem is that Dell monitor quality has dropped over the years. I deployed one of these 2 weeks ago and the backlight on the left side failed shortly thereafter. We've had other problems as well. Good innovation but Dell needs to up the quality part of the equation to what is was previously.
I just installed two of these U2723qe monitors connected to a Lenovo Thunderbolt dock which is connected to a Thinkpad X1 gen 7 laptop. I have each monitor connected to the dock via DP. Only one monitor is showing the full 4K 3840x2160 (60hz) resolution, the other maxed out at 2048x1152 (60hz). When I turn off the monitor that has the full resolution, the other one resets and comes back at the 3840x2160 (60hz). When I turn the monitor back on the one that had reset to the full 3840x2160 reverts back to 2048x1152. What am I doing wrong? Should I be daisy chaining the second monitor and ditch the dock completely and connect Ethernet directly to the master monitor along with a USB C cable from the laptop directly to the “master” U2723qe? I’m trying to figure this out using documentation on the Dell website but it’s very confusing. Your RU-vid on the Q2723qe is really excellent and I figured you might be able to recommend the best set up. I don’t know if the ThinkPad X1G7 is what’s causing the problem. It’s fairly new, purchased about 3 years ago. Thanks so much for any help you can offer.
Do u think these m18 r2 specs are still good for gaming and streaming? I bought this monitor and when I connected it to my laptop the only thing that happens is that I get a message saing there is no signal to the USB C port. It seems like Iäm not the only one with that problem.
Sorry to hear you are having issues. See page 90 on this link. dl.dell.com/content/manual12109242-dell-u2723qe-monitor-user-s-guide.pdf?language=en-us There are two common issues to cause this. 1. not having auto select on the display setting or 2. not using a good USB-C cable (you should use the one that came with the system). Hope this helps. If not, call Dell support. The monitor has a 3 year advanced exchange warranty.
@@MichaelOHanian Thanks for a fast reply. I have tried every setting including "Auto" and I'm using the USB-C cable that is included in the system. Guess I have to contact Dell support and that they will find a solition.
Is it possible to daisy chain 3 of these monitors in total (2 extra)? I want to connect first monitor using thunderbolt to laptop and using display port (DP) to PC and use this as KVM, second monitor using DP to first, and third using DP to second? U2724DE + U2724D + U2724D
The Intel version of this laptop failed: the battery lasts a short time. I hope that with Snapdragon that will change. We will have to wait for the independent tests to see if the battery really exceeds 20 hours.
