Others have said it was uncharacteristic of Butler's lines. It'd be interesting to know if Butler adapted these or if Nicholls did more to work the original.
Holy fuck ! This is like Ronnie coming out of his Cadillac after writing the song in the driveway of the House where Sabbath were renting and trying to write with Ozzy ! To no avail ! It was magic ! For sure ! This is a gem ! You can feel it !
So who knows the changed lyrics sung here at the end where it's supposed to be "the moon is just the sun at night...and when you walk in golden halls..."? I can't make them out.
I don't understand then either, but I've heard demos of other songs where the singer will know what rhythm he wants the lyrics to have, but hasn't written them yet, so they just say random things or even gibberish.
I wouldnt call it a demo really, its clearly a live rehearsal tape, its fantastic either way though. I actually wish they kept some of the stuff they did different here when they recorded the album, not that the album isnt an eternal classic but i really liked this tape.
@@aidanlynn Then you dont understand what a demo is, a demo is usually a studio recording similar to an album release, recorded in the same fashion and similar production/sound and also doesnt have to be any different to the album version regarding the songwriting, this recording is probably done on a boombox or similar mostly to remember the song. I have been in the studio myself and recorded demos with my bands.
This is a band practice tape. Not a demo ! A demo is presented to record company like an audition to try to get them to sign you and invest in your real recording.
Whatever it is, it is so cool hearing different versions of songs. Some are bad, while others can sound amazing! Glad we get to hear at lest two versions!
Loved Sabbath with Dio. They never sounded better. Heaven&Hell is the best Sabbath albums ever and one of the greatest metsl album's of all-time. Dio! Dio! Dio!....
I agree! My buddies older sister had Master Of Reality on 8-track when we were 10 and we played the crap out of that. Other than that, she had old KISS, Van Halen etc,. But when I was 13/14, Screaming For Vengeance and Number Of The Beast came out in '82 and those started a lifelong adventure as a headbanger! My neighbour then introduced me to Heaven And Hell and Holy Diver. I was hooked on Dio from then on! I love all the Ozzy and Dio era Sabbath, but must say I love H&H the best!
Sounds like vintage Elf from the early 70's. I dig Elf. Elves. The Electric Elves. Rockin boogie rock from the very early 1970's. Just need some more rollicking piano here.
Ronnie is supposedly on bass .this early demo was done, when geezer had quit the band so Geoff Nicholls and Ronnie both took bass duties, until either geezer came back or til they got a replacement. it is also rumored that dios bass player from elf craig gruber played on some demos as well. the heaven and hell demo thats circulating is rumored to be geoff nicholls but it could be any of the 3.
From what l understand about this session is Tony ,Ronnie who is playing Bass/Vocals & Bill who is playing on a small kit not his full size kit, they are the only ones in the room forging the riffs & words for Heaven & Hell, Geoff & Geezer are aren't in on this session, although l could be wrong it might be recorded at Geoff's house
