Hello friends, my name is Carlos, i am 27 years old and i have been in the HVAC field for about 6 years now. I live in a small town in AZ. The temperatures here tend to reach the 110-120 degrees and we have the sun shinning all year long. As a result my town has been labeled "the sunniest city in the world". The demand for air conditioning is very high here. Unlike many tradesmen who did not choose to do this as their career but found themselves in the trade and just stuck to it, i purposefully chose to learn this trade, first going to a trade school and soon after that, all hands on experience out in the field. Strangely enough i love this trade and i will never leave it! I made this channel to encourage, motivate, help and share the little that i know. Sometimes the videos will be nonsense, just for fun, so be aware haha! I will start uploading soon. If you would like to reach me you can contact me by email, thanks :)
Getting a new packaged heat pump warranty seems great company is good, the copper wires just turned me off here, how common is that? Is it the same with the tranes?
@@sants.602 Not with Trane its the opposite, everything is nice and organized. 😎 So far every single runtru i have installed will come with the copper all jacked up, i always fix it but yeah it is annoying.
@@sants.602 It can cause a rubout with vibration and a leak. If you take the time to make it neat from day 1 when you install the unit, then that issue is gone. Its what i do everytime. I think Runtru and Goodmans are going to be around the same category (if we are talking 14 seer equipment) Get a good labor warranty, and a good installer, the installer is actually the most important factor 😎
The previous company’s failure to revamp the curb and ducting is shameful. Your work is impressive….neat and thorough. I hope you showed some before and after photos to the owner!
Wow that termite stuff is scary/ disgusting. I don’t think I’d stick my hand into that lol. Termites are super common and aggressive in the valley but wow to let it get that bad that they are on the roof sheathing of a sloped roof is crazy. You’d think there would be obvious signs in the house before it ever got that bad but since you said it’s a rental that makes sense.
@@HeavyPressureHvac Actually I do. The blower motor on a Rheem 5 ton package unit won't stop running. It seems I need a new $ 400 motor it's the x 13 motor. Where else should I check. The wires are good and so is the board. It has a new capacitor too.
Cut the power and unplug the low voltage from the motor, bring power back, if the motor spins without the low voltage hardness then yeah you will need to replace it 😞 Check that the thermostat is not sending 24v to the G all the time. Some of those have a relay, check that its not stuck closed. 9 out of 10 on those x13, its the module 😑
I used your recommomdation when I went to replace my HVAC. I had a 20 plus year old RUUD package unit R-22 and probably R-1 ducting and went with R-8 and a Bosch IDP 5 ton inverter unit. I also removed my Mastercool ADA70 swamp cooler, my wife was not happy with all the moisture. We live in the high desert near Victorville, Ca. I do love my Bosch heatpump.
@@amsoiltek Thank you for considering and congrats my friend 😎 with R8 ducts and a Bosch, that power bill is about to go way down! 👀👀🤩 If you have any questions in the future reach out to me on here💯💯💯
What I've seen here in phoenix is many ac companies don't increase return air when upgrading from 22 to 410a, also alot of undersized systems, good to see there are companies like yours still out there
Yes I agree. I had two four ton systems for a two story 4,000 sqft house. I think that’s pretty undersized. There were only two returns in the house one upstairs and one downstairs and no zoning/ jumper ducts or anything of the sort. The house was built in 1997 and I think that was common for the time.
Went to a call once where people installed a unit 3 years back before i was there and both units of the house was down one was the capacitor and the one they installed 3 years ago never actually ran. The service valves was still closed. The home owner had no clue and just assumed it worked lol
@@tommymatthews4984 I got a friend that does tech support for our town, He says majority of the installers/techs that call dont even the know the basics 😬
I have this very unit here in Phoenix. I am on year 5 with no issues. Humidity removal during monsoon season is fine, I haven't had any issues. It's an awesome unit and so energy efficient !!
Hey man, thanks for the video. Did you happen to (or can you still) take any running amperage readings from condenser and air handler? Would love to know what they pull while cooling for energy savings cost calculations
Hello, What is your opinion on Gree ? Most of the contractors are trying to guide me away from Gree and Midea and push what they carry like Mitsubishi and Carrier
I have installed a ton of them, never had an issue. If you can afford it go Mitsubishi, but if not then theres nothing wrong with Gree. Find a Gree "Select" dealer, and you will get 10 years warranty. 😊
I'm on my 2nd year with a Flexx 3T. Still whisper quiet. Still blowing cold (AC only). Service was nothing but cleaning, double checking. I was on the fence about taking a risk, but so far I'm happy. I did not do DIY and AC company already had experience with Flexx line. 🤞
Thats great! I have only installed this one and my customer loves it too! I want to install the 4/5 ton, and see how it does. Thank you for sharing 💯🤜🏼
I have a bosh package unit. The unit comes on, compressor comes on and stays on while the blower motor keeps turning on and off. Tstat is Brand new, filter are new. I'm out of ideas.
Hi, can you pls give more detail info about the capacitor issue with this machines, you mention the herm and fan are switch. Is that correct? I just instaledl a Runtru heat pump package unit 5 ton, and I feel the compressor is making too much noise, I did order a noise dumping cover (blanket) for the compressor, hopefully it will reduce the noise. The other issue I am contemplating is that the unit is not level. But, like you said it does have more airflow running inside the ducts. Thanks for such a great video.
The fan will come wire incorrectly. i haven't seen this issue anymore but its super easy to catch. If you go where the outdoor fan is, and you can feel the air blowing out towards your face, then more than likely youre ok, if the air is pulling towards the unit you have a problem🥶 The compressor blanket will definitely help 😎
We are waiting on an estimate for a 4 ton, 13.4 SEER2 Trane package heat pump for our house that will go on the roof. You mentioned that you like RunTru, but what’s your opinion on the regular Trane packaged heat pumps? Is it worth paying the difference and how reliable are they? We want a heat pump that will last 15 years if that’s possible these days.
If youre planning on living in that house for a long time then i would definitely recommend the Trane! I know i just made a video talking crap about one (it came defective) 😂 Its super rare they will come with issues. Overall its a great product. Find someone thats a "trane comfort specialist" , to be in that category you gotta be a reputable company💯💯
@@HeavyPressureHvacWe will be living here for a good while, so it sounds like Trane is the way to go. This will be the second estimate we get for a Trane packaged heat pump and both HVAC contractors recommended curb installations. We currently have elbow ductwork connected to the side of the old Tempstar heat pump. I hope we won’t have any roof leaks after the curb installation. Thanks for the reply and have a good one!
my dad was a plumber... those solder joints look ugly.. no wonder its leaking ... when i was about 12y old i could do them better ... dad showed my all his tricks (Rip)
This happened to a very strict customer. I was upset because i was going to have to deal with her. Lucky i had the unit running soon after she got home 😅😇 Dont worry this rarely happens, Ive seen it maybe 3 times in 9+ years 😇
it'll last for as long as you need it to as long as you're properly maintaining it. (cleaning filters, external, etc) and making sure the pressure is adequate. I'm assuming these units come with a charge from factory, as long as you don't have any leaks or loose any of it while installing they'll be fine as any other split unit.
Microchannel has better heat transfer but its more fragile, it has reputation of leaking too soon, i would stick with tube fin coil, aluminum or copper. 👍🏼💯
How have the Bosch Package heat pumps turned out so far, and are parts readily available? The inverter would keep things warm during the winter here in our part of AZ. However, I’m wondering how long the Bosch packaged units will last and how reliable they’ll be.
For Bosch parts i wouldn't know, i have never repaired a Bosch 😅 The 20+ i have installed have been good, im sure thoe sooner or later one will fail. For how long they will last, im assuming 10-15 years, but more like 10 hahah
10 years seems to be the new normal for packaged heat pump longevity. I think we’re going with a budget model, and maybe in 10 years there will be more HVAC manufacturers producing inverter heat pumps. Until then, I hope we get 15 years out of whatever budget brand and model we choose, which will probably be a Day and Night or Rheem/Ruud because that’s what’s most available in our part of AZ. Thanks for the video and reply!
@@archstanton9703 The day and night 2 stage packaged unit is actually really nice, and they have copeland compressors. Maybe you can do a 10 year labor warranty and have total peace of mind.
@@HeavyPressureHvac I appreciate the recommendation the day and night unit has a five-year replacement warranty, which is pretty good. I’m wondering with this unit if it’s possible to put a larger filter in it so it doesn’t have to be changed like every three months because I have to get on the roof to change the filter and I’m trying to avoid that, HVAC company said they could install a new return inside the house but they’d have to perforate the roof for the ductwork which would be much more expensive as well. Thank you and have a good day.
@@archstanton9703 A return inside the home is ideal, but i understand sometimes the homes structures will get in the way of the upgrades. If your budget allows it go for it 😇 What part of AZ are you in?
How have these Run Tru heat pumps been holding up in the Phx heat? Has the quality improved? I read these will heat down to 17 degrees F. Is that true? Are they made in China? How does Run Tru compare to Rheem/Ruud? Thanks for posting this video!
So far so good, they fixed the capacitor issue. At 17 degrees to be safe, i would recommend a dual fuel set up or backup electric heat, at that temp im sure the runtrue would struggle a bit. I hate rheem and ruud man, i feel like the AZ heat just kills them, I fix them daily! I only sold 2 rheems ever, and 1 of those customers calls me every single summer with complains, i have sold like 20 of these runtrus and they been solid. I stick with trane products, ICP, and im starting to like Bosch products. 😊
@@HeavyPressureHvac From what I’ve seen Rheem/Ruud are pretty common around here maybe because of the price. I think heating to 17 degrees was a typo on HVAC Direct’s website because our Tempstar heat pump stopped heating well once it got close to freezing. We’re going to have to replace our RTU before the AZ heat sets in, so maybe the RunTru might be an affordable and reliable option. I appreciate the reply. Have a good one!
Maybe we have something similar? Our fuse flips off randomly. When the house gets hot, we go flip it on and the a/c runs again. We hired an electrician to look at it but he said he found nothing.
Could be a bad breaker, if the breaker is sized incorrectly that could be it too, could be your AC pulling too much power, compressor is starting to go bad, 2 wires are rubbing against each other intermittently with vibration. These are some of the few things that could cause your issue, Hire an HVAC company and get a second opinion 🙂
Mini split tip . I installed zip ties on the line set cover before I bolt it down to the wall . Makes securing the line set so much easier .nice install .
It is hard work. So you can make over 100k when you are young, but what will you do when you are >50? Now I recommend to go into IT. Less tough on the body, more challenging than HVAC wages are also higher than in trades 😊 By the way, have you try hard start kit before condemning the unit?
Thankfully there are plenty of HVAC careers that dont require lots of physical labor, so those are a nice option. Regardless, the most important thing is to have long term plans/goals 😊 I added a 5-2-1 start kit and it didn't do the trick🥲 You can see it at 2mins 10 secs 😊 I have a brother that does IT and he loves it 🤯🧐🧐
