Joshua, when you do spaced out subjects photos like this, I understand that having a small aperture like f11-16 helps, but where do you focus? Particularly in the shot where they are in a line at 45 degrees to you(2:22)? I struggle with depth of field on these type shoots. Any advice is much appreciated!
Dale Edwards my focus was on the first girl wearing the black dress. I was using a 35mm so there isn’t much depth of field when shooting at a distance. I think I prolly that that at about a 2.0-2.8. The first few girls were is decent focus but the ones in the back weren’t as sharp. Did that intentionally tho. I did get other shots off the other side which were not posted in this video. :) Shooting with a wide lens sure helps with background blur. If I Shots this with a 50 or 85 the depth of field would have been much more compressed. Hope this helps 👍🏼
Without looking at any of the names (I just covered up that part of the screen) my favorite photos from escch location were: Location 1- First Photo. Location 2- A tie between photo one and photo three. Location 3- Photo two. My favorite one of all goes to: The second photo from the third location!
Joshua Lopez Oh nice! I just find it a little awkward on the last part. However, the video was fun. I saw other videos like this, but yours were less patterned and took me to a guys perspective of taking photos. That was refreshing. Make some more! 👍👍👍
Good stuff guys. I liked Tom, Josh, Tom and Tom, your field shot killed it! The laundromat is a cool idea I'd like to try now. The last outfit was the best. Sorry Marcus I was rooting for you being a Sony shooter myself (I did like your laundromat shot though). Only complaint is the marginalization or lack of respect for Miranda in the whole process. She is not shown until you start taking pictures and you don't mention her until the end when you say " this is Miranda something". That wasn't very nice, she made your shots. Photography is not all about the photographer its about the subject and she is beautiful and a real trooper who did a great job for you guy.
The pictures turned out great! All three photographers had their own style which was interesting to see. Do more videos like these! Also, can someone please tell me the title of the song used in the first part? It's been stuck in my head for hours now. Lmao
Beatrice Lim haha thank you I hope to have new content soon! The song I honestly have no idea. The songs used for this video are royalty free tracks so it's not off a huge label.
Joshua Lopez thanks god dude! Couldn't get that song out of my head, but at the same time I couldn't find it, so in order to listen to it I needed to watch your video, so I think I gave some extra 20 views :D
