Wow, if those increases in power are like that then I must rejet. I’m running stock jets with foam air filter, high airflow exhaust, and smog junk removed.
You should show from takeing gast tank off all the way to this bc I'm a monky w a wrench u show just a motor on a table most newbies t like tf how do I get it off the bike quick without damageing it lol
if you go too far,,, you get over tdc ,,, then you have to kick over the ignition stroke and the exhaust stroke before the next ignition stroke comes ,,, if you step hard enough it can ignite ,,, and kick back and break your foot ,, never do that
the right way to start xr 600r without auto decompressor, use of manual decompressor on the handlebars ,, forget all other videos .. machines newer than 87 has auto decompressor is built-in chamshaft ,, 86 - 87 with cable down to kickstarter ,, mechanical decompressor
I’ve owned my XL600 with an XR motor for almost a week, and I still can’t get it down. I had one good day where I was able to start it. But for the most part I just kick this thing in the heat till I just give up an hour later. Frustrating.
Mine was hard to start. Turns out I had a bad cdi. Now it's a 1 kick bike. Try holding the decompression lever and kicking it through about 5 times. Then find compression stroke and go 1 click past it with the decomp. Bring it to top and kick like you're trying to spin the engine as fast as possible. No throttle the whole time. I went through all the electronics on my bike and nothing helped until I replaced that cdi box.
billy ???? I was able to get used to it after awhile, I adjusted the idle screw because I would always have it all the way off. Got it on the first kick every time once I figured that out. It’s currently not running, I cleaned the carb but I just have to put it back on, and it’s a mission to do so. Hoping that’s what it needed because I was on the freeway and it bogged down like how it would if it ran out of gas. And it wouldn’t start after that. Hopefully not a top end issue. I just got the bike and was hoping to get more out of it, but I still have no regrets for a first bike.
This bloke knows nothing about the XR600R. What he needs to do is pull the decompression lever, turn the ignition off, kick it over gently 3 or 4 times, turn the ignition back on, find TDC with the decompression lever roll it gently passed TDC, let the kickstarter return to the top and then kick it like you mean it all the way through, it will start every time. 👍👍👍👍
That timing chain is badly worn. There should be minimal slop on the gear. No matter how tight the tensioner pulls it, its not gonna ride on the teeth correctly. The links are too far apart from eachother now that its worn out.
if you have an older bike like this make sure you replace the spark plug boot with a new ngk non resistor boot. then go for a non resistor plug. I went for a newer technology fine wire champion 8809 spark plug. always kick a few times with dcomp on to prime the motor first
ya see my 400 has a hotcam so the auto decompression isn't there.. I didn't know-how to use the manual.. so I didn't use it at all.. and snapped the kickstart spindle . ... least now I will know how to use it when I get the new part
Ahhhhhh Haaaaaaa......I found the same video on 4Strokes.com .... Where he does give the before and after Dyno run numbers..... I haven't watched the video yet....going there now
