Yep, we have a lot of Asian immigrants here, which of course means lots of fantastic Asian restaurants. I'm very lucky and have 1 carer who's a Filipino, and another who is from Thailand, so I get very spoilt with Asian cooking 😊

The road landing strips are about 25 kms apart in the less populated parts of the outback. They numbering of these strips is so they can land as close as possible and land vehicles transport the injured to the plane. The regular ground based Ambulance Service has access to helicopters as well. These can be used to ferry patients from regional hospitals or accident sights to major city hospitals if need be.

Echidnas are 1 of only 2 monotrenes ( egg laying mammals) in the world , the other is the platypus. Both are Australian. That wasn't a grasshopper, it was a stick insect ( we have many different varieties of them here) - Google "new insect discovered in Laverton Western Australia" this insect will blow your mind lol

OK. Lets what sort of nonsense this 'click-bait' collection has dredged up from the swamp that is 'social media'! 1. 'Wave Rock'. It is quite spectacular but then do a google search for 'wave rocks' to see even more spectacular rocks. 2. The birds on the picnic table are Rainbow Lorikeets. They are found all down the Eastern Coast of Australia and throughout Indonesia, New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, and New Caledonia. 3. The 'On Australia' quote is a translation from the Dutch Explorer 'Dirk Hartog' not Willian Dampier. 4. 'Leaf' and 'Stick' insects (Phasmatodea) can be found all over the world except for the Antarctic and Patagonia. They are most numerous in the tropics and subtropics. The greatest diversity is found in Southeast Asia and South America, followed by Australia, Central America, and the southern United States. Over 300 species are known from the island of Borneo, making it the richest place in the world for Phasmatodea. 5. The egg could be a cassowary egg. They are green. Cassowaries unlike the Emu can be found outside of Australia (Papua New Guinea and Indonesia). 6. The bird 'drinking' from the can is a 'Sulphur Crested Cockatoo' they are found in eastern and northern Australia as well as New Guinea. 7. Toads and python - more here: au.news.yahoo.com/real-reason-cane-toads-latched-onto-snake-114149481.html 8. Pink Lakes. Not unique to Australia. thegreenvoyage.com/pink-lakes-of-the-world/ 9. Unless you are interfering with or threatening an animal in some way, the only animal in Australia that 'wants to kill you' is the 'Saltwater Crocodile' (which is found in estuaries in far Northern Australia and throughout S.E. Asia and as far as India.) Note though that this about twice as many Americans have been killed by American alligators as Australians have been killed by Crocodiles.) See: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_fatal_alligator_attacks_in_the_United_States AND en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crocodile_attack 10. Assuming the snake in the shoe put itself in there, note that each year about 1 in every 13,500,000 Australians (for a total of 2) die each year as a result of being bitten by a snake (with most of those having interfered with the snake in some way). Note too that Australia has the3rd highest 'Life Expectancy' in the World. www.abs.gov.au/statistics/people/population/life-expectancy/latest-release 11. The School that has the whole school now air-conditioned is here: staffordss.eq.edu.au/ is in sub-tropical Brisbane. 12. The 'Rose-Breasted Cockatoo is usually referred to as a 'Galah'. 13. Having Kangaroos as pets is not allowed in most of Australia. www.petful.com/other-pets/kangaroos-as-pets/ 14. Frog eating snake is REAL!! www.9news.com.au/national/green-tree-frog-eats-a-taipan-snake-in-townsville-queensland/259eab13-1df0-452d-9a3c-c0ae6c0f2b7f 15. The animal that ate the bananas in the house is a 'brush-tailed possum'. (A marsupial but only very distantly related to 'opossums' in the U.S.A.) www.australiangeographic.com.au/fact-file/fact-file-common-brushtail-possum-trichosurus-vulpecula/ 16. Rainbow wrasse (fish) are also found in the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. 17 The Gecko (Lizards) are 'warming' up in the person's hand. 18. Do not expect to see wild kangaroos 'everywhere' in Australia. Where 90% of the population live, seeing kangaroos is rare. 19. The tree in the Daintree Rain forest is a (the oldest in the world). It appears to be a 'Strangler Fig' (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strangler_fig) 20. The lizard is a 'goanna' (monitor lizard). See: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goanna 21: The weird moth is a Creatonotos Gangis. It can be found in tropical Australia but this particular one is from a video made in Indonesia. 22. Australian 'hail stones' out done here: weather.com/storms/severe/news/2021-05-02-texas-record-largest-hailstone-hondo-possible 23. 'Blue Ringed Octopus are found in tide pools and coral reefs in the Pacific and Indian oceans, from Japan to Australia.

Hi mate. The huge white cockatoo birds have discovered bin diving. It started in Sydney with them raiding wheelie bins. It spread north to Queensland to the south to Victoria within a month. The birds taught each other. It's been mointerered by the CSRIO, so please check it out. Love ya, cobber.

Sulphur-crested cockatoos are 44-55 cm (17.5-21.5 in) long with the Australian subspecies larger than subspecies from New Guinea and nearby islands. A relatively large bird but hardly 'huge'!

1. Who still listens to 'Commercial Radio'!!?? (She may fallen in with the 'wrong' type of people!) In Australia if you want news that you can believe from the radio, you listen to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (Australia's national public broadcaster) stations which have NO commercials. 2. Petrol prices. Basically prices are cheaper earlier in the week and increase before and during the weekend (when people are often going to need more). There are number of apps. you can get for phone which will find you the cheapest price near you. ('Petrol Spy' is one.) 3. 'Lolly' can be any sweet confection. In the U.K. 'lolly' can be slang for money and what Australians might call an 'icy pole' in the U.K. is an 'ice lolly'. 4. In the lead up to Federation it was agreed that neither Sydney nor Melbourne could be the Capital. The Constitution that came into effect on the first day of the 20th century (January 1 1901), had this in Section 125: "Seat of Government. The seat of Government of the Commonwealth shall be determined by the Parliament, and shall be within territory which shall have been granted to or acquired by the Commonwealth, and shall be vested in and belong to the Commonwealth, and shall be in the State of New South Wales, and be distant not less than one hundred miles from Sydney. Such territory shall contain an area of not less than one hundred square miles, and such portion thereof as shall consist of Crown lands shall be granted to the Commonwealth without any payment therefor. The Parliament shall sit at Melbourne until it meet at the seat of Government." (Melbourne had buildings which could accommodate temporarily both the Victorian State Parliament and the new Federal Parliament.) (The Federal Parliament moved to Canberra in 1927.) That it seems odd to our Dutch RU-vidr is itself a little odd when the capital of the Netherlands (the Hague) is the only 3rd largest city in the Country. (I would guess most people if other countries, if asked would guess 'Amsterdam' to be the 'Capital'.

Even 20 years ago people weren't as accepting as they are now. So a same sex couple trying to get a double bed in a hotel did still raise a few eyebrows. Have you not heard of the term 'coming out'? Which is shortened version of 'coming out of the closet', which she was trying to do in that event. Check our the skit 'straight mardi-gras'. Different show (Fast Foward), but has the same ladies in it. That might be more your cup of tea 😂!

Nothing surprising though if you look at it per capita it paints a different story. On the gold most of ours is still in the ground. We even have a whole region in WA called the goldfields region plus some like Boddington in the Darling Ranges just South of Perth. But like most of our nation's wealth it is owned by multinationals, mostly American British, Dutch and French. Royalty payments are around 14% and for that the multinationals get kickbacks in the form of Australian taxpayers paying for infrastructure and subsidies like energy whereby some American operations pay only 1% of what locals pay. Or allowed to take all our gas production equal to around 1 cent per litre Royalty and sell it back to Australian's at around 15 cents whole sale. Australians pay around 75 cents per litre for gas (LPG) at the pump. I know, our politicians are every bit as stupid as yours.

I think the linked below is the most insightful interview with Chopper Read. His mother was a devout Seventh day Adventist and rejected him from birth. She attempted to kill him a number of times and when he was 15 he left the church. As a result, his mother (with the help of a seventh day Adventist church psychiatrist) committed him to an insane asylum. Within one year at the age of 15, he was subjected to over 50 electroshock treatments and brain changing anti-psychotic drugs. His father ended up by breaking him out of the facility. There’s no sound on this interview sadly. It’s the only copy I could find… it used to exist in both video and transcript but it’s no longer available. The interviewer is named Andrew Denton. The show was called “Enough Rope”. Denton was a clever interviewer. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HrV7SXXecpo.htmlsi=_dx9NIkQw-DZsSNf 8:40
