Hi Mat. Facebook friend-of-a-friend, fellow disabled person and insomniac here. thought Id share my thoughts on manhood if you dont mind? Manhood is more than just having hair on your pits and your bits, or having a strong back or a potential for violence. You said yourself that that is the popular, superficial view of being a man. A man is more than all of those things. A man is every childs father at need. A man knows his responsibilities and lives up to them as best he can. A man's shoulders are more important than his back because his friends know they can depend on them to lean on when needed, regardless of how far from the floor they are!.You talked about not being able to "protect women" but that is exactly what you are doing by being a friend, being a Man. You are not being "friendzoned" (I think you know, in the cold light of day that that is just self pity, not something that a man should even be considering) you are being a friend. A man is self aware and sensitive to others but knows too when to ask for help or when he needs to just have a damn good whinge! :) Just from watching your short video I can see that you fit all the criteria. You are a man, don"t let anyone, not even your 3am self, tell you otherwise.
Hi there. Thank you for for your comments. I think the more rationale side of me knows there are many more facets to being a man than the things i touched on in the video here. I guess i just over analyse things too often and that's when i start thinking about all the things i feel i can't do as opposed to all the things i can do

Oh man, tell me about it!! I can convince myself of anything in the small hours aslong as it is BAD lol. I find I have to get up and do something creative, and I am a big fan of chatting on the internet. After all it is always Happy O'clock somewhere :)
positivity certainly brings positivity, your right about that and i do try my best. I have been meaning to do more videos on different disability and life topics to make people more aware :)

I struggle with this a lot due to society's view on those who are disabled and my own perception of myself. That got better,but seven years ago I was cheated on by my boyfriend of 4 years who happened to be an able bodied. I had to go to counseling for a bit because of that and other issues. Last Memorial Day my boyfriend of a year broke up with me and I haven't been with anyone since.
Very true, it is easier for others to see the positives in ourselves. I go very up and down but most of the time i am quite critical of myself. Ever since i made this video i've been telling myself its gonna get easier but so far it hasn't worked yet. Thanks again, you are pretty amazing yourself.
