Hey cool video :) since i assume that you have read the book - is there anything in it up to which year cartier used real sapphires in the reference 2961 and not synthetic ones? I own a Cartier Santos 2961 in which the sapphire is rather green or a very strong dark blue instead of the usual blue of the synthetic sapphires. unfortunately, there is almost no information on the internet about when real sapphires were used.
You mentioned that VC is bigger than JLC. Which is true based on actual size but if you put side by side like at the start of the video the VC looks smaller due to the case details and dial size. And the JLC dial looks flat and lifeless. But anyway not fair comparison because there is a price difference.
I have the Or Massif $2960 and I love mine. I have a question regarding the crown spinel. My question is if the sapphire cabochon an actual sapphire? Wonderful video - thank you.
I have a watch that belonged to my mother that she bought in 1983 and it looks very similar to this one, if it's not too much trouble I'd love your opinion, could I kindly show you some photos?
Very nice piece! Can you kindly write here where you purchased it? From your video I heard ‘Cartier preowned program’ but when I google that, I cant find anything .. I would appreciate a link or some additional info, thank you in advance!
Bucherer has a certified pre owned program. The Cartier watches are actually serviced and refinished by Cartier. I was surprised when I got a Cartier Certificied Pre owned warranty card with it. Your right - it seems to be limited through Bucherer by Cartier and not advertised widely by Cartier.
I owned the Jaeger LeCoultre Master Control but I have sold it after 1 year. it was not for me. Very plain watch, no lume, very light. Dial is nice in pictures and video but in person after a while it is lack of personality to me. I replaced it with a GS GMT and it is definitely a better watch to me, at least better finishing of the case and dial
Zenith is a fantastic watch brand... renowned, it's one of the top brands. but for those prices of Zenith, IWC, Omega, Grand Seiko, Hublot... I always prefer Rolex. I have always been tempted, but in the end I always opt for Rolex. yes, one day I would like to have some AP, PP, JLC or Breguet
The date on the VC looks very cheaply done, more of an after thought really. JLC great value for a full in house movement from arguably a brand that should be in the holy trinity
Sure, we all want our watches to look brand new but polishing the Carree doesn't make it look new but just polished. The factory brushing done by Cartier has a unique industral roughness that is almost impossible to restore properly. Becasue right now your Carree is finished like a smooth Galbée. The drama of the Carree charme is missing. Christian from the Theo and Harris RU-vid channel made a good point about it when he presented his "Or Massif". Still a great watch though enjoy.
Do you know the main distinguishing features between the Carree and the Galbee? Trying to find more information on these watches. I would also appreciate any resources you can link me to.
@@1trife90 The main distinguishing feature is that the Carree has a flat surface, while the Galbee is all the way curved, also the date on the Carree is at 3, while it is at 6 o clock on the Galbee. The Carree is automatic, while the Galbee is mostly Quartz. The Galbee is more streamline in a sense, while the Carree is very rough industrial. Here: /watch?v=C4K8Z0bNA2M /watch?v=yQkqGlO7Ei4&t=839s
I held one in my hands and it felt heavier, much heavier than stainless steel watches. It is relatively small and I kind of like the weight of it. It reminds me of wearing something really special.
I love sector dials. I sourced the JLC in the secondary market at a great price. I went to view it and loved it but I wanted to have a few days before deciding on the purchase as I already have the VC in rose gold and didn't know if I wanted another sector dial watch. Went back for it and it was sold. I wished I had purchased it now 😫
What a nice piece. I never knew this existed. It looks like the original first GS case, but with a modern automatic movement and modern GS dial design, very unique The engraved dial is a special feature only given to rare metals at GS because of its low yield. Congrats on the ownership.
