What happens to the fish that die naturally? Do you have a scavenger or do you just sweep them out?

Wow, what a fantastic project! You must be such brilliant people. I am so envious! Good on you for taking such incentive to transform something so ordinary into something so remarkable. I wish I saw more of this. Unfortunately, we would never see things like this in Vancouver because it is too rainy and grey here (it's June and we've only have 1 sunny day so far) :(

Thank You! It's hard to find reliable info on RU-vid specific to Arizona, so this is a great find. I appreciate the fact that you took the time to record it for us. I will be visiting Tropica Mango in the near future. I also hope to tour the garden pool before the end of the year. Recommendation for all your meetup videos... have the speaker repeat all the questions. I can hear the speaker, but I can't hear the questions from the audience at all.

How large would you estimate one of these would have to be to feed say 100 people? I imagine to a great extent it could be used to solve problems of hunger and water conservation in places like Africa.

I might get a little kids pool to put on my balcony when I move. I'm moving to a high rise and I won't have a lot of room to farm so I'm gonna grow Duck Weed to eat. Any suggestions?

I would be worried that if anything happened and being in the city like that you would be the first target of rioters and gangs looking for food and supplies . I use to live in mesa and moved to tucson 19 miles out in the desert. I surrounded my home/acre with 2600 feet of barbwire and cattle fencing. I'm currently growing 12 fruit trees and stocking a room with food, water, guns. I will be working on a pond and garden soon.Don't get me wrong you inspire me to do more. Just be cautious if shtf

@deestavo Don't worry. The chickens roost above the pool and free-range during the day. They aren't trapped there.
@deestavo

The one thing that concerns me, is prolonged standing on chicken wire, will hurt the chickens. I see you have patches of hay for comfort, which is great, also know why you need the wire for the waste to fall through. How about a net, made of rope? Soft on feet, and waste can still fall through.

@Beehe1337 The first few minutes of audio are not as good as the rest. This was a live broadcast that was outside. I really don't think the audio is worth complaining about. It isn't that bad considering the circumstances.

Hi there... We have just started to use soap nuts (Sapindus) & found they wash the clothes great... Some have more species have more saponins than others but well worth looking into... Looking at doing the same with ours for the Self watering / wicking garden beds... Have a great one...

@ConcernedMushroom We use a stainless steel mesh lint trap where the water exits the washing machine drain hose and enters the wash tub. The lint trap can be seen in the video and it works well.

@marthale7 It is pretty easy to move the plants around. You carefully pick them up as the roots do not stick to the grow medium, hydroton. The roots do not grow as large as they do when growing in soil as well. This makes gardening very easy.

I know a school that has a disused indoor pool that hasn't been used in 20 years. I wonder if we could do this in there? It's in New York, by the way, and the windows are very small and face north.
