We had a lot of fun on this trip. It was fun seeing all of the things that I'd seen in other RU-vid videos. The night sky is simply amazing, I have never seen so many stars and galaxies anywhere else. It was fun getting spotlighted by the camo dudes around 2:00 in the morning. I think they're bored and they've got nothing to better to do than to go around and hassel people. You'll on BLM public land so there's not a damn thing they can do about it. I highly recommend it and hope you get a chance to spend the night out there.

Who is behind this, forget the engineering, the builders want the dollars more. The so-called Tustin Legaci Project, signed in 2003 to build. These are the tallest wooden structures in the world, 82 years ago, in 1942; In more than 1,600 acres, in 1950 and 1993, some areas of these wonders were closed; In 1991, it was signed with a leading construction agency in redevelopment LRA, they are Military Hangars of the Air Force and Mirian of the United States, used for the maintenance of military equipment for the Second World War, later they were used to store relics such as Zeppelin that flew the European skies in 1948. They are located in the city of Tustin California, Orange County, with more than 25 stories high they are considered a historical jewels of military engineering. Today, November 7, 2023, one of them is destroyed by flames, before the eyes of its residents, taking with it many ancient treasures that were part of the history of humanity.

You are correct. It's all driven by greed. These beautiful landmarks were doomed as soon as the Navy let the land revert to the city.
@toroterrenojosearturogilbe8961
@toroterrenojosearturogilbe8961 10 месяцев назад
It's a big loss to the history of the city and county, but it's a nice gain for the developers who have already set their sights on that land. For years, those beautiful works of military engineering, for 80 years, were there still and suddenly with a drone they set them on fire??? Or who came in to provoke it? Millions of dollars in monthly apartment rental profits are at stake.
@toroterrenojosearturogilbe8961

More apartments for the city. The builders of Hawaii are also happy... How much would they pay to obtain that juicy business... now they don't care about history because of their thirst and hunger for dollars, they are miserable people, who will rot in hell; with their millions, and families paying expensive monthly fees to please these rogues. What the research says. And those of us who were present saw how the firefighters were fumigating empty areas, and not on the flames. Ridiculous. That they investigate the millionaire builders of California, and that they say that it is the blue project???? Ver enlaces y video s de RU-vid:

unfortunately a third hanger that was identical to these ones burnt down in my home town back in 1995, the site of the old hanger location is now a dump site for construction and demolition materials. The metal sister to the hanger that burnt down, which was built in 1941, is still being used for lighter-than-air vehicles to this day.

What are the coordinates for where you camped and had the bonfire? I’m making a trip there this summer with my pop up camper
@Dabobeans
@Dabobeans Год назад
You just take highway 395 to Groom lake road and travel approximately 11 miles. About a mile before you get to the area 51 gate, you will see it on the left side of the road. You cannot miss it as it will be the last driveway on the left before you get to the gate. There are no other dirt roads or places like it, and it's very easy to spot.
@daveb6019
@daveb6019 Год назад
Been looking at it on Google Maps. I hope the stones for the bon fire are still there
@Dabobeans
@Dabobeans Год назад
@@daveb6019 The easiest way I can tell you to find it is to drive all the way to the gate, get your pictures, turn around and start heading back and within a mile you will find a dirt road to your right that takes you up a slight hill and that's it. The dirt road that takes you up the hill also winds around and will drop you back out onto groom lake road. You really cannot miss it as there are no other dirt roads that take you up to a place that you can camp.

I drove down Groom Lake Rd and got to that new sign you mentioned, but I wasn't sure if that was the border or not, so opted to stop there. Wish I had gone further now that Ive seen your vid. Did see a couple Camo dudes, but not the bus. I did see one alien, but it had a great disguise and looked just like a deer. 🙂 Amazingly beautiful landscape out there! Hoping to get back out one day. That looks like a lot of fun. I've always wanted to do that. It's 130 miles from my home. It truly appears that the threat of serious injury by our government is real. That is deadly razor wire.
@Dabobeans
@Dabobeans Год назад
It was a lot of fun and we're hoping to do it again this fall. Don't worry about the camo dudes cuz they really can't do anything to you other than shine lights on you to harass you. It's public land and your legally okay to be there. Just make sure your vehicle is in good working order as there is no cell phone service out there and if you break down you're going to have a long long walk to get help. That spot where we're camping is about 3/4 of a mile from the gate where the camo dude sits on the hill overlooking the road. I honestly think that the camo dudes get bored and it becomes sport for them to come out and harass people, but it's well worth it as the area is very beautiful and you can see some strange sites in the sky at night.

US Navy 1942 Tustin Airship Hangars As an Orange County resident who has seen these massive hangars many times from Jamboree Road and Barranca Parkway, my first thought was that the City of Tustin should save one of them to honor its significance in structural engineering and local history - and keep something in Tustin that will separate it from becoming another boring, faceless, “perfectly” planned suburban development (including an over-engineered mix of housing, parks, schools, roads, churches, and businesses). But the more I thought about it the less historical preservation is viable for a former military hangar and I’ve changed my mind. The Tustin hangars were part of a military-owned and managed airfield that would be a long-term burden for any city ownership and management. The hangars were built for the Navy and taken over by the Marines, and would fare poorly as part of a public park managed by a department of parks and recreation. The massive front doors don’t open by pushing a single button, the electric engines that slide them open require meticulous maintenance and monitoring, the local weather conditions need to be understood and heeded before the front doors are opened or closed, any personnel or materials inside the structure must be vetted and strictly managed (the noise and chaos of an inside skate park is totally unrealistic), these buildings were designed and constructed to essentially be repair docks and would require substantial modifications of plumbing, electrical, fire suppression, and security for public use, and without military management either one of the surviving hangars would age badly. Think of the Queen Mary in Long Beach, since 1968 (that took decades to fall apart under private management as a floating hotel and museum and is in danger of capsizing and sinking). In short, the Tustin airship hangars - now 80 years old - existed in a time and place that is no more and they can be respectfully dismantled and honored with a 1-to-100 scale bronze model placed exactly or close to where either one of them stands now. Keeping even one of them would be wildly impractical for the next 50-100 years. As a worst case scenario what if a surviving hangar caught fire and burned like the Hindenburg airship in 1937 (think of commercial food service inside a hangar!). With the front doors permanently closed, what about evacuation routes for hundreds of people who might be inside! Would hotel-style public bathrooms have to be added inside or on the outside perimeter of the building? What about security and 3 a.m. vandalism? The list of impossibilities and probabilities is long! I know it’s pie-in-the-sky but what about Tustin scheduling the demolition of both hangars and at the same time budgeting $1 million for a design competition of a high-profile structure of equal height and width but 1/100th the length that could inspire memories and imaginations in the future. Losing a local icon is traumatic, but replacing it with something new is an opportunity that can invigorate the City of Tustin and all of Orange County.
@whyarentyouactive
@whyarentyouactive 10 месяцев назад
Well you got what you wished for ( lol ). Was sad to see yesterdays events take place but I have to agree with you. It's hard to let them go, but they are quite unpractical. At least now we have one left, maybe something better will be made use of it or who knows....
@robbriner9575
@robbriner9575 10 месяцев назад
The Tustin hangars are impractical in today's world but I was still saddened to see one of the two obviously damaged beyond repair. No doubt it will be demolished in 2024. What is our relationship to history and historical structures? What's a reasonable investment of public funds to keep the remaining hangar viable? Or just the south hangar's front entrance superstructure, where it is, as an ongoing recognition of very significant local history? Soccer fields and pickleball courts will never be historically significant and I hope Tustin finds a way to balance the present, future, and past.
@whyarentyouactive
@whyarentyouactive 10 месяцев назад
Just realized I said unpractical, whoops! Impractical, definitely agree there. I really couldn't have said it any better, a park is a neat idea but what homage would it really pay to these engineering marvels of WW2? Have you thought about writing the city and pledging your idea? I'd vouch for it. It truly is hard to want to let these go even for me, a 33 yo Army Vet, who never served on this base but somehow feels attached to it because I saw it everyday for years. But a statue in its place, something to get the community involved, anything like that would be great really. Last thing i'll say is while they seemingly quite useless, I do wonder if they inspire others to learn more about history like they did for me. I got curious a few years back and learned a lot about them, and what WW2 was like in California. I worry future generations will lose interest in history and with nothing to remind them of it, will fade away.

I had one do that as well and it turned out to be a bad battery which I had to replace. I will double check all the connections make sure you've got power and everything's connected correctly and if so it's likely that your battery is bad. You can try plugging the battery directly into the charging cable that came with your phantom 4 and if it still does not light up then you know for sure your battery is bad.

I just found out that the blinking blue light on my phantom four charging hub is burning out it is much lighter color than the other ones, so this is the problem. Sometimes it’s on sometime to soft but it is working, kind of a faulty light. Thank you anyway and thanks for the great idea of discharging all these batteries. I am discharging eight of them right now.

The area around groom lake road is all BLM land and can be camped on for free. You just have to be careful around the security gates as the red markers that denote the boundary between blm and government land is not well marked. The spot you see in the video is about one mile from the security gate. Go to the Nevada BLM website and they have a map of all open land that you can camp on.

On May 24th, 2020, Me and three of my college buddies camped in that same spot. We were there for the majority of the day and spent the night. Around 11 o'clock that night we noticed the wind was picking up, and looking off to the northeast (towards Badger Mountain) we saw an array of lights that were very similar to what was depicted in this video. After watching this light show for about 10 minutes, the lights disappeared and the wind also ceased. Throughout the night "Camo dude" patrols were harassing us, on one occasion watching one of them walk in front of their own headlights into the desert. But nothing happened to us and the next morning we went on our way.

I was stationed there in 1977 and enjoyed it. We were tasked from time to time bringing in the Goodyear blimp and towing it into the hanger. The blimp was placed into the corner and did not take up any space at all. There were a couple times that some of us would climb to the top of the hanger and drink beer. I recall one time that the hanger was empty and both end doors were opened up fully which was strange. Then a pilot from El Toro had flown thru the hanger. At another time one of the helicopters was flown into it turned around and flew out. Missed that place
