Jean Michele Basquit one of my heroes, along with James Douglas Morrison🦎👑 I had seen this movie, when it first premiered. WHAT a treat to find this!! Thanx to Soulman for repping this great story of Samo. Basquit went from rags to great riches, in the time of the great user of talented artists & people~Warhol ™!! Sadly we lost this great Artist to a Heroin Addiction. Now, his work goes for millions! At the time NYC was bankrupt; I was there at this time. The City wasnt a pretty place, then. REST IN PEACE SWEET PRINCE!! 👑🥀 You changed the art world!!

Thank you for sharing this incredible film on RU-vid! The performances by the actors were truly outstanding, bringing Basquiat's story to life in such a powerful way. The soundtrack was equally amazing, perfectly capturing the mood and energy of the era. I'm grateful for the opportunity to experience this artistic masterpiece, especially in a commercial-free format. Thanks again for making this available to everyone! 🙏❤️❤️❤️

Ohhhh jeeze she was 14! Yikes I had a huge crush on her when I was a kid. Of course I was about that age then myself so nothing immoral. But I'd always thought she was older like in her early 20s.

This was a good movie why Bowie didn't stay with this type of things in future films bafffles me. After China Girl, his popularity was thru the roof.

Seeing various interpretations I thought I would share how I hear it. I hear two narrators, it starts with "I love you madly .." and strikes me as David talking, perhaps an internal conversation with God. The second starts with the voice change and "I gave them life I gave them all..." and tells a story of a cult turned religion turned ravaging government/army. There are many historical examples in the Judeo, Christian, Islamic and communist traditions probably others as well. In the cult story he's referring to well meaning and well resourced people who are used by powerless opportunists to get power and then use that power for selfish hurtful purposes that are not well meaning and would be (and often end up) opposed by the well meaning benefactor. The well meaning benefactor typically gets cast aside and becomes ineffectual. This is a common dynamic in cults. There were quite a few of these situations going on at the time David wrote this song.

this movie, for me, was quietly life changing. the tragedy of genius, the parasitism of the audience, the doom of talent, brilliantly portrayed.

His music on the soundtrack is underrated. "As the World Falls Down" is one of the best pop ballads of the 80s pretty easily. "Underground" is a pretty great song that has some notes of 50s and early 60s rock.
