This lineup is nice, white widow and US agent could be great co-leaders, although I am missing a few characters. Like, for instance, Baron Zemo. Especially since the big reveal in the original Thunderbolt’s was that it was a ruse initially and some of the team defected because they actually wanted to be heroes. And, if they wanted to show him as a secret Hydra agent, the second pick would be Swordsman. But, specifically, the Andreas von Strucker one. Then again, I don’t think many people want his Flowers in the Attic self there. Or his sister, Andrea. Moonstone will be missed from this lineup. Seriously, she’s a fabulous monster of a Captain Marvel villain. The fact she hasn’t been used is a cardinal sin. Whilst this Val is okay, it’s weird from my Xmen fan perspective because we have a government agent called Dr Val Cooper… and she’s banging US Agent.
@@FandomSage Yeah, I think that Zemo not being a dedicated Hydra member was part of that whole decoupling Hydra from 60 plus years of comic history was very weird. That’s why I’d use the von Struckers to reveal his villainy. Because it happened in the comics as well. Andrea discovered he was Citizen V and he killed her. Then, just for good measure, he brainwashed her brother.
Honestly? I loved Marauders. Callisto had a rough start but I do like how she’s evolved over the years. Her interaction with Jumbo was very touching. Especially when she gave him the knife. Reminds me of those old lgbtplus and civil rights activists who got killed and the answer to “what would we do if we had the chance to talk to them”. The Florida estate makes a lot of sense and I honestly love what they do with Masque here. And the conversation about Kitty using the Marauders name was a nice touch. Hominus Verendi were interesting as villains. More on the economic and financial power side.
The section where I talk about her powers fluctuating over the years was more general commentary on the unstable nature of her powers vs the first half of the video where I talk about her origins. I know she also had Sunfire's powers for a bit too but I just wanted to highlight Rogue's shifting power set
In keeping with your thoughts, it would be cool if she started out as a villain in an Avengers film (maybe not necessarily a Captain Marvel solo film, but a team film that she's in). Then join the X-MEN established when their films begin .
@@maromega honestly I could see them doing a Brotherhood movie or series to flesh out some characters like Rogue, Mystique and Toad who have a lot of complex back story.
@@FandomSage just gotta let them understand that fans have time for a fleshed out story, and there's no need to blow their whole arsenal in one abridged shot. I'd watch a Brotherhood film, or a film where she is a mutant, aligned with whatever villainous faction the Avengers face. Or any GOOD movie they throw at us, so long as her arch works toward the proper destination as an X-MAN.
@@maromega agreed. I feel like along the way the importance of storytelling was put on the back burner and they wanted to create opportunities for spectacle or setting up some future plot.
I've been watching your channel for a couple weeks. Thank you for doing this. I haven't had a chance to catch up on X-MEN comics for 2 decades. Your voice acting / narration is pretty good, and I like your asides.
Since they've telepaths and the fodder-kun didn't have any tech to shield his mind, the torture was unnecessary. On a note to self: Dont piss off Domino.
Yeah and I was talking about the effectiveness of telepathy with a friend and we went down a real deep hole, but the main point we agreed on is that the gift is a tool and one must employ it with skill for it to be effective. The guy most certainly has information in his subconscious he isn't aware of. Every day we are exposed to so much information, sensory, verbal, emotional ect and we really only consciously recall a fraction it's all there
I'm sorry, Marvel lost the plot with the X-Men after" the twelve". And almost immediately after they didn't know what to do, they basically did a Brand New Day and reboot all the x titles with a time skip new creative teams and new directions. Insta wrecking most of their titles. And then out of spite for not having the licensing rights they intentionally stagnated mutants and refused to create new characters they couldn't use.
@@fictionjunkie Marvel/X-Men have had some dry runs like any series but I will say the writers and creative teams handling X-Men have never shied away from provocative storytelling and a pretty consistent continuation of the narrative, even when a soft reboot type situation happens. Those alternate universes/time lines still exist and are referenced and remain canon to the over all history. The Krakoan Era is no different. Introduces some new elements and reimagined others that have been a part of the legacy and gave us something truly exciting and mysterious . It has weight and texture and controversy again I will admit there were some less savory titles sprinkled in throughout the 5 years but as a whole very successful
Technically speaking it was stated that the seat of the Red Queen was filled BEFORE Shaw was made black king. I'm guessing she just want present because she couldn't use the gates and had to sail there. So it wasn't eventually assigned to her she already had it
Kate and Emma had discussions about but remember she wasn't actually her first choice. At this point in the story we didn't know any of that though. Kate's first time officially voting with Hellfire and later the Quiet Council was Marauders #5
Heyo love what you do bro, keep up! I'd like to ask if you could reorganize your video titles so that when going through your channel it would be a little easier to know where they stand within the timeline of the era, which title and issue they're from and all that jazz thx!
yes I understand. So I usually put the issue and number in the description. I try to get an attention grabbing title but I'll keep what you said in mind
Great video, i read the first issues when it came out, but i was unsure of if this was a new status quo, or just a funny story without lasting impact, making it skippable. I am waiting to see which is the case before taking action. Thank you
This is top notch! You do such an excellent job in voice acting and editing together the comic panels to tell their story. You give me the missing context from past series so I don’t feel left behind or confused by where the story is at. Keep up the great work!
you cannot have a character in comic books be intelligent, AND competant, AND morally good for an extended period of time. becasue if they were all three..they would solve the problems, and then the comic would be boring. So they're always smart...but ineffectual due to some character flaw. Pym is bipolar. Stark is an egomaniac and drunkard. RIchards doens't give a rat's ass about the world outside of his family. Peter Parker has a martyr complex and HORRIBLE luck. and Hank McCoy is comic relief because if he were to take things seriously...well...he would either have to turn on his freinds for all the utterly unethical things they were doing....or go down the exact path he went down. never forget: an institution like Marvel does NOT prioritize good storytelling. they prioritize selling comics. they will warp or reboot things however they please to that end. it's not about the product the business makes.. it's about remaining in business. and much like mcDonalds..it's far easier to sell a crapton of mediocre product than Quality work.
X force is often seen as the grimdark book of the Krakoan age… they’re not wrong but I do like it. Frankly, I think it’s because people remember Beast more from the 90’s cartoon and the movies rather than the guy who has been slipping for about 30-40 years depending on your view of volume 1 X-factor. Focusing on the assassination of Xavier, Jean and Domino for the first part is a good idea as well as Beast. Sage is a great one to have; the person most deserving of being a member of the Xmen. She should be… and writers need to give her an actual civilian name and not her literal stripper name of Tessa. Kid Omega is my only gripe because his romance with Phoebe rubs me the wrong way. Poor Sophie when the Cuckoo’s connect because she’d be experiencing that PoV. Teen Cable was better for them. Black Tom is used pretty well in this book. Admittedly, if you know how Nicieza was writing him and Juggernaut during the legacy virus, you know what I want. Lol. Honestly, a decent read through. Honestly, the book I’m looking forward to seeing you do would be X-terminators because it’s stupid, insane and fantastic
yes I do quite like the line up. Sage is low key a favorite of mine. Understated and efficient. I feel she would be a great leader on or off the field. Kid O I like to hate but he grows on you. Black Tom has always been interesting to me. His powers are crazy and I wouldn't be surprised if he were omega
Idk I mean He kinda did questionable stuff: pretended to be gay, made an more lethal version of a virus to wipe out an entire race of aliens just like the mutants right before, had to work with a bunch of villains and even in the Krakoan era Hank was killing "potential" threats to the nation and made "experiments" which were…terrible
@@notredboi He tried to get mess up his ex girlfriend by telling that He might be gay but that backfired when She told this to everyone but Hank didn't told the true so He just pretended and even Scott and Emma were pissed with Him
Hordeculture are very entertaining villains. The fact that they’re based on Hickman’s grandparents makes them funnier to me. I don’t think Emma was annoyed at Gateway. Moreso that she’s annoyed at the bioterrorists and is trying to find something nice to say. I like Gateway. You can easily do a movie on the outback era with him.
It's horseshit, this isn't what he was meant to be. Oh there was dark beast in AOA so that's proof? The AOA had sabertooth being a hero in that and exiles but you don't see him as a good guy in any other version of him. This whole thing is just some hack writers wanting to subvert things for shock value and nothing more.
i actually cite 4 or 5 other versions of Beast that were villainous, as well as pointing out the various things that he has done over the course of his entire publication history. Unless you're inferring that just about every Marvel writer that penned an X-Men comic during the last 30 years is a hack...all I know I presented the facts as they happened in the comics. #sorrrynotsorry
@@FandomSage that's just how marvels done every scientist or smart character, Tony Stark, Reed Richards, Hank Pym, Bruce Banner. They all have elseworld stories of them being evil too, doesn't make their main character focus meant to be evil, despite what hack writers would have you believe.
@@MrOrcshaman many characters have villainous turns or heel turns that's just a hallmark of storytelling. I won't pretend to know what may or may not have been deliberate about Hank's character development, but the proof is on the page and I'm not advocating for him to be evil or good whatever that is. I'd much rather have a character be interesting. Beast's story has sparked much debate as you see so in that respect, I appreciate the writers who actually incrementally and collectively inched Hank McCoy to this point because for me it makes sense and was not so farfetched at all.
That casting for Amelia as Xavier’s Ex? Love that. The Vulcan casting is so good as I loved him on American Horror story. The Henry Cavill one makes sense. Although, now I wonder who you’d cast as Jamie and, everyone’s favourite Omniverse stalker; Opal Lunar Saturnyne.
Russell Brand was my choice for Jaime but he's so problematic smh I haven't thought of anyone else because all I picture is Brand lol. For Saturnyne I need a someone classic so I favor Naomi Watts
@@FandomSage Fair enough. Jamie is kind of a difficult one to do since a lot of guys who could are either a little too old or controversial. Naomi watts is a good one for Saturnyne. Whilst I don’t have many bugbears with modern comics, it does feel like the shades of blonde have been reduced. Eg Dazzler is supposed to be strawberry and Saturnyne is Platinum. Sage would be frustrating to do because no one wants to add the character since she’s seen as Claremont’s baby. I was thinking someone like Samara Weaving would be fun where she could pull off the classic look but would also be down to fight. I feel like some characters may be more on the voice. I’d have Mojo as either a Harvey Fierstein or an Alex Brightman.
Thanks for making those. i can't really read some of those, they're too politics and business heavy for the current me. 😅 But you narrating makes it easier to digest
