this video could go more into depth. There are actually alot of things you can do to "soothe" a babys crying. babys crying is usually caused by one of a few things. Hunger, gas, boredom, over stimulation, tiredness, wet diaper. (they're called "cry babies for a reason" There are cues for these. If youve tried them all, there are still some more things you can do. theres a trick which works with younger babies where if you hold them under your arm, face down, supprt the butt with the other hand, rock them while wiggline the butt, it overwhelms their nervous system and chills them out. Giving a head message or just slowly moving your palm in a repetitive stroking motion on their forehad or temples. Babies have very short attention spand and new stimulus easyily distracts them. Changing environments, doing something unexpected, swaddling, can all stop a cry. If you;re utterly desperate- remove all stimuli. a mask over their eyes and swadling so they cant move their arms. and yeah if all else fails... you can walk away. take a break. even go for a walk. Finally... if absolutely no matter what in a situatiion where you absolutelty are going to "take it out" on the baby, you're better off slapping them or spanking or pretty much anything besides shaking. Not that those are good options, but shaking is the worst. Welll.....there are other bad ones (selling it to the weird guy on the corner who has the trenchoat full of babies) but lets not go there

This is why I don’t want to take care of babies or have anything to do with them due to the criminal system will lock up those who shake babies to death to life imprisonment without parole and America does not do death sentences anymore.
I know a family who is suffering abuse, physical perhaps even sexual. The alleged abuser is my own daughter. I heard about this through a third party, her brother. How do I get this investigated?

Knowing the “right” way to respond to inconsolable crying is difficult. Never Shake a Baby educates parents on patterns and reasons for infant crying, the dangers of shaking, and helps develop a support network. When parents understand crying is a normal part of development and use techniques for soothing an infant it helps decrease the caregiver's sense of guilt, ultimately making them better parents. That is why we say, "No baby ever died from crying, but they have died from being shaken".
@SABRINA: How long is "too long"? When exactly does brain damage occur while crying? After 2 minutes? Or 6 minutes? Or 9.3 minutes? How exactly does crying damage the brain? Your claim is absolutely false, you wish to needlessly frighten parents and you cannot cite a single neurologist who'd support your myth.
they usually cry for a reason, letting them cry it out can cause brain damage too. I agree with walking away if you feel stressed, but dont leave them for too long.
