Reading about part of inspiration for this, the mention of Stephen Stills and Sisyphean....I had to put this here as a public service. Such a great song. His piano on this, and the sweeping choruses (which I think includes Rita Coolidge. ). I'll add it as a reply, I think the RU-vid editor doesn't like links in comments.
I am a huge 80a and 90s music fan, songs from the 80s remind me of loved ones passed away too soon, but also fills us with hope for the future and intrigue, I can tell you now no one from the 00's, 2010s, 2020's has ever made me feel this way....people when they hear my music choices and film choices etc say "you should have been born in the 80s" I tell them...."I was " 41 years old at present
Bruce...This song brings me chills! So thankful to be able to call you a neighbor...My talent lies not in playing - but listening to others, like yourself, who can compose, play, & sing! Bravo!
For some reason this song just popped into my mind tonight. I had never paid much attention to the lyrics, never even seen the video. But I really listened this time and I'm blown away by the song's quiet urgency. A new found sound treasure.
When I was a kid, I heard this song. Then I found out about the Grateful Dead's "China Cat Sunflower," and while that song was cool, Bruce's version is super-awesome.
This song will never get old no matter how many times you listen to it. From the lyrics, to the musical arrangement to the instrumentals and powerful meaning. Everyone I think can relate somehow to this song
One of my favourite songs. I have only ever heard the Don Henley version, but now I can hear the Bruce Hornsby stamp on it. The musical improvisation is playful and full of soul, with surprising and discordant chords. Thank you for this beautiful performance.

I don’t know the reasons for the split from The Range in the days gone past but I miss the old sound. Collaboration albums explore creativity but it’s not the same…there’s an occasional solo sound, again it’s not the same. A reunion with The Range former members would be great but don’t know who’s around anymore
