Thank you Sir, for a great video presentation !!! Even now in 2024, this information is priceless, as some of us "old" tinkerers, we are still upgrading and using the "indestructible" Toughbooks.
Hello Bob! As I understood in this video you speaks about K120 G3 ? I bought G1 with 268 hours total time of work and i like it! Also I'd upgrade it but i can't find exact information. Can you help me please to figure out several things for my K120 G1 i5-8250u: 1. RAM maximum 32gb or 64gb? 2. DDR4 2400MHz ? Or more frequency is possible? After BIOS update may be.. 3. SSD M.2 slot only one (in container) or two (somwhere in mainboard) ? 4. Max supported space of SSD M.2 and NVMe technology support. Thanks you

Hey Bob. I recently found a listing for a Dell Latitude Rugged 5424 thats in good condition: I7 8th gen 512 GB SSD 16 GB RAM For 400$, do you think its a good deal?
Depending on where it's from, we don't recommend purchasing from these types of listings. They don't offer warranties and most of the time it's someone trying to get rid of a computer with issues. If you are interested in getting a Dell Latitude 5424, we do have one to compare it to here: www.bobjohnson.com/dell-latitude-5424-intel-core-i5-8350u-1-70ghz-with-touchscreen/ Thanks for watching!

I have the 5414, I don't know who had the laptop before me, but that the corner screws just won't come out, as that they are striped for a screw driver.. I am going to have to drill them out, all for the purpose of replacing with larger ram. Going to have to get a drill bit small enough just to take the top off the screws.

honestly for me, the whole AI capable processor thing just seems like marketing. there are servers for that which a company can rent or deploy, and that your laptop just pings when it needs to (both the panasonic and getac have LTE so that should be no issue) in my opinion, the build quality and reliability is by far the most important aspect of a rugged laptop and its what we buy them for instead of say getting a regular business laptop that would offer better performance per dollar than both of these machines

The best advise I could give is to take it to a local repair shop and let them evaluate it. Without it in front of us, we're not going to be able to tell you exactly what's wrong with it.
Hey Bob, not sure if you’re still answering questions or not but I’m trying to figure out if I’m gonna be able to link this thing to my monitor running on my other pc using an HDMI or something and use it as a second display? Thanks!

Took out the SATA M.2 drive to swap it to an NVMe drive. It will not fit. Getac F110 G1 version. looks like only SATA M.2 versions for this guy. It looks like it's going to fit, but it does not.

The most important thing from my experience for service work is screen size, quality and its brightness, the ability to clearly see it outside or under fluro lights in building but especially outside & it needs to be big so that you can see technical info in detail, ruggedised is a bonus, but you treat it like a computer not a tool and I’ll take one I can see and use with clean hands than one impervious to grease that’s difficult to use, we’re not under fire, there is time to clean your hands and position them safely if you have the brains, idiots and unlucky guys will wreck anything

Hello, I have a GETAC k120 and the stylus arrived in the post today, I can't figure out why it doesn't work. The touch screen is fully functional and responds beautifully to the touch of a finger, but does not respond to the stylus.

I always go with th Logitech wireless mouse and keyboard. USB C for the phone. Question. Can I go to Verizon and get this tablet hooked up to my data so it's connected online?
On our 7212, no. Sadly if Dell only includes the antennas for the mobile data card on their computers that come with one. This one did not come with one so we cannot install it. On the other hand, we do have a Panasonic Toughpad FZ-G1 that comes with the mobile data card already installed and a swivel hand strap, carry handle and shoulder strap installed. www.bobjohnson.com/panasonic-toughpad-fzg1-mk4-mobile-data/
