Lots of live concert video....mostly of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Mudcrutch, The Zombies, John Prine, Lyle Lovett, Sarah McLauchlan, and others.
Ralph hated The Byrds because they had long hair, He even asked one of them on live radio what his draft status was. Ralph had some of the fathers of country rock on his show and ignored them. The funny part was just a few years later Ralph grew his hair long.
What a tour . Sat next to band that flew in from California in Austin Tx. Hillman said that group of musicians 🎶 were some of the best he ever played with. What a show.
I can't explain how the early 70's captivated me and my guitar playing and also hurt me as an artist. I was clearly lacking. I gushed Blues and missed all that you ladies of the time liked. I made a quick left turn and recovered. A cowboy shirt and some boot. I made the transichen.
I just watched a song from month prior and you can see the pain increase and weariness, but he friggin loved his job and that’s what is importantly for the group. I’m ready for the ultimate front row sear someday…I never got to see him live so woo and Hoo someday..
The semi-original Bryds had Gene Parsons and Clarence White. Gene invented the "B-Bender" guitar that produced much of the variable guitar sounds . Clarence White was seriously one of the best guitar musicians that ever lived. Check it out, my friends.
Tom Petty was gone less than 6 moths after this video was recorded. ~ His Family's statement: “On the day he died he was informed his hip injury had graduated to a full-on break and it is our feeling that the pain was simply unbearable and was the cause for his overuse of medication,” according to the statement from Dana Petty, his wife, and Adria Petty, his daughter. ~ Sad tragedy of an accidental drug overdose. He had needed hip replacement surgery, but insisted on keeping his concert dates schedule.
All the more tragic if the drugs were for pain relief. Hip replacement surgery - though it sounds scary - is easy and speedy recovery for most patients. He would have been back in action a week or so after surgery.
